September Sunday

How is it already September??? I'm not ready for it to be fall yet! The summer has just whizzed by in a blur of events - dMum in he hospital twice, dsis out to visit (her 40th high school reunion, then again when dMum was sick), work, and an assortment of other things - most of which didn't lead to much in the way of relaxation.

DD, her hubby, and the two youngest grandmonsters have just gotten home from a week's holiday on Vancouver Island. Son in law has family there, and they try o visit every year. They send loads and loads of gorgeous pictures, but what I just cannot understand is how they could go that far, and not go to a beach where they could go in the water!!! They saw and did many fun things, but no trip to the beach?? I just don't get it!!

What are you planning to do with this first of five Sundays in September? Other than visiting dMum this afternoon, I'll be continuing to do housework. I honestly need to be doing some decluttering, too. Dbro and SIL are coming over in just under three weeks. I know they're going to want to see the house, and I don't want them to see it like it is. We can't even sit on the patio, because the table out there is covered in all sorts of "stuff".

Nothing will get done if I don't get started

- eat breakfast/take morning meds
- wash the rest of the dishes
- morning daily chores

Thank you for anniversary wishes! We talked to both kids yesterday and made it to the beach and checked in for a week here.

That round is done! Well... mostly. I still have a big pot and a baking dish to wash. There was just no room left on the counter drying area (we don't have a dishwasher), and even the world champion of dish tetris couldn't have fit them in!

It's supposed to be hot and sunny today and tomorrow (high 80s, which is very unusual for this far north in September), so I'm going to get some time outside, no matter what! The front of the house is in shade by mid-afternoon, so I can do some weeding and deadheading out there. First, though, I need to get a few more things done in the house.

- wash another section of the front entry (I only got half of it done yesterday)

Hi!

We went to Niagara Falls to get groceries this morning. We needed some ground beef and some ground pork. We also got a gorgeous steak for tonight. It's a good thing we go to some places early. On the way home the highway heading to the falls was already bumper to bumper! No thanks!

So, supper tonight will be steak. Sides will be mushrooms and a sweet potato for dh, a regular potato for me and a bunch of onions also cooked in a foil packet so everything will be on the BBQ. Dh left some ground meat in the fridge for tomorrow night, which might be burgers. We will decide on that tomorrow at some point.

Opportunities Abound!
Various Monthly Threads are popping up around the village, for inspiration (from YOU), for encouragement (from YOU), recording, perusing, pondering, and general "keeping up" with the fact that it is already September and how in the world did that happen.

One special anniversary explained in The Decluttered Home this month is that 10 years ago, The Cleaning Focus forum began here (although already a concept from Indiana that was well known to us for several years by then). We no longer have every-month threads for that forum, but the calendar is always current, also Cleaning Tips for various rooms in another thread, and explanation of Maintenance minimals beginning with US Thanksgiving time in another (that's an important feature, so that we don't burn out during the holidays!)

Bittersweet - Thank you for the start today.

They saw and did many fun things, but no trip to the beach?? I just don't get it!!

This made me smile. They must be in the very small percentage of people that I am in. I suspect 99% of the world loves going to the beach. I am in that 1% who detest everything about the beach. I don't like the sand, the birds swooping around, the crowds, the stuff (seaweed & trash) that washes onto the beach, the noise from waves, the water movement from the waves but most of all I do not like the smell. I have been to multiple beaches about half a dozen times on two sides of our continent plus the fake beaches that are manmade for those of us who are landlocked. I gladly give my place on the beaches of the world to someone that enjoys it. However, I love to hear about others' enjoyment of being on the beach and looking at their photos.

DH was sick during the night, so we stayed home from church this morning. I strongly suspect it is because of the rich and carby food he ate at the reunion yesterday. DH diabetic meds seem to empty his body when he eats too many carbs/sweets. I have a mental picture of the meds being little green characters that team up to decide they can't process all those processed sweet carbs so they make a decision to expel it out of his body as fast as possible. I might have been watching too many animated cartoons....

I have been up on time as ddoggo has decided when it's lite enough to go out she does a little woof to wake me up to let her out.
I like getting up at that time 6 ish and am able to see the Pink sky & sunrise.
I like the beach at sun rise, moon rise, and sun set if it's quiet and not busy.

Smoke & allegories were acting up today so I did not go out right away.
Have walked then had bfast.
Glad for the warning of the person ahead of me that said a mean pit bull dog would not let him pass to go home on the
route I was going to do on a hill today. He had called the cops. The other neighbor his niece said the people were not nice either.
So we went on the other route.

Had a good talk with my dsis.

Thought of my new Spill the Tea Journal I'd gotten a few weeks back and forgotten all about, so was looking for it and
the Woodland Watercolor art book also just remembered I got this summer and have not used.
Found a stack of fun creative books like Goose Berry Patch Crafts, one on Christmas crafts,
Vintage sewing, Christmas Teas, 30 Days of creativity, Christmas coloring.
A book by a fav. artist, Johanna Basford Another fun arty type cook book, a sketch book with guided prompts to draw,
butterfly coloring for adults, Prayer shawls to knit book.

A "write your story" journal with out prompts, ,
mental health journal work book, a goal setting work book & book,
A Year in the Country like a Sunset Book with great glossy pics. to inspire you, a novel;
I'll look through tomorrow and chose some things for this month.

I dusted the Liv. room & vacuumed in there too so I did not have to do it tomorrow.
Did card up the great heather wool, and did some spinning on it.

I LOVE the beach and discovered last December that dh hates walking on the sand. Funny, he went into the ocean with me in December of 2014, but we weren't married then. Hmmm... Any way, I have one of those little noise machines that has 6 different sounds on it. I LOVE the "Ocean" one! It has the surf and birds that I think are sea turns. (Most people think they are sea gulls.) I just turned it on now to listen to the 6 different sounds.

I have swept the library and cleaned the litter box. I also emptied the garbage in the bathroom because it was full, and dh tends to let garbage cans get overloaded and then they are heavy, I also changed all the calendars to Septembrrr... Dh has 2 appointments for bloodwork and 3 different doctor appointments this month.

I've also enjoyed a cup of hot tea.

Well, I did change the dog blanket, work on dummybuttdoggo's haircut, then I finished the dishes, took out the trash and compost, vacuumed he living room, dining room, hall, and kitchen, and watered all the pots on the patio... all in an attempt to avoid the front entry

I have to admit, LadyM I've never met anyone who actively dislikes the beach. Each to their own, I guess.

Pitbulls can be mean, Nancy, but they can also be amazingly loving and friendly dogs. Unfortunately, the mean ones generally have he difficult to deal with owners.

I really and truly do have to do that dratted front entry In an hour and a bit, I need to start getting ready to go visit dMum, so I'd better get my butt moving here

Nancy… I hope you are having a wonderful birthday weekend. Cheese cake sounds delish!

My Willis was part Pitty/boxer mix, but really had a Pitty head. Many people were afraid of him when they first met Willis… that included Norma… but it didn’t take but a few minutes for every one to fall in love with him. Norma got to the point that the first thing she did when sh sat down in my living room was to call for him so she could give him lovings. He hardly every left her side once that happened and she just loved him.

Willis was a great ambassador for pitties. Many people who are usually afraid of them would actually ask if they could pet him because he always would smile and was so calm. Over and over again I heard people say… I can’t believe I’m petting a pittie! I’ve met some pretty mean dogs in my life including many small lap dogs who would bite at you if given a chance.

Last night I went to my karaoke gathering which is always such fun. I don’t sing by myself, but most of the time it ends up being a sing along with who ever has the mic. Sweet Caroline is always a crowd favorite.

I didn’t sleep very well last night and was up 4 times. Had a continuing dream that wouldn’t let go so every time I went back to sleep it would pick up where it left off. Very annoying.

It’s Sunday slow around here… I changed the sheets on my bed, washed the dirty ones, change my front door wreath and exchanged a few other things around the house for fall. Am working on a 500 piece puzzle which is something I haven’t done in a long time. Our clubhouse has a bookshelves filled with them that the loan out. After I started working on it, I noticed someone had circled an area of the puzzle and wrote … missin piece. Glad I saw that.

I have chicken in the refrigerator that needs to be wrapped for the freezer. Keeping an eye on the tropic and will make a grocery run to get a few more cases of water. Also want to fill my car tank with gas. Because everything is so close by I seldom need to do that but once a month, but I’m at only a 1/4 tank left so don’t want to wait till the last minute to do that.

Our lanai storm screens… think of them as strong see through window shades… are going to be installed the middle of this month. Hopefully we will be storm free till after then. The beauty is they can take winds up to 150 mph and will protect the furniture and plants in my lanai. This way I won’t have to drag everything.. furniture and plants…into my home for a storm. That was a nightmare last time, and I won’t have to put it all back outside again.

And now if we want to travel during hurricane season I can close up my home and not worry about it if I’m not here
