Re: September Sunday
Dh and I love the beach, perhaps him more than me, but nonetheless it's a nice getaway for us. He worships the sun and can roast all day. I'm always in the shade - tent or umbrella - and I just consider it a chance to hunker down and read too. I love this beach - it's clean, sand is yellowish but nice, no shells to cut the feet. IT can be crowded at high tide, but I've seen much worse. I'm not a fan of sand on my feet, in my things, and all over but I can tolerate it. I went down about noon - dh had put up our "tent" shelter. It's this one: https://www.neso.com/?srsltid=AfmBOoqHU ... o9LNLN_dQv

Re: September Sunday
Twins…I love the beach but that may be because I grew up on one and have many wonderful memories of my time spent there. My parents had a summer home two blocks from the ocean when I was a baby till I turned 6. Then we moved to the home where I grew up 5 miles from the beach.
We belonged to as a beach club that for a price provided lockers so you could have a place to change clothes and store beach chairs and such. The club had a pool… which I seldom used and a place to buy hamberger s, hotdogs, French fries… my favorite … and sodas. Some Sundays my dad would cook us breakfast on the beach. That was a big deal. I had summer friends who I didn’t go to school with who also went to my beach club. I always was excited for Memorial Day so I could be reunited with my friends… many from the time I was 8 till we moved away at 21. Labor Day was always a celebration as the 4th is my brothers birth day. My mom would buy a huge sheet cake for everyone to enjoy
Most of my friends parents sat around the pool playing cards for most of the day on the weekends. I rode the waves on blue and yellow canvas rafts with all my friends, only coming in for lunch. The club put on summer family movie nights and as a teen we had local teen bands that would play a few night during the summer. Summer Romances started and ended there.
Once I had friends that could drive or I finally got my license we would roam the empty beaches during the fall nights and at the first hint of warm weather we girls would don in our bathing suits, find shelter provided by the jetties and lay out in the sun pretending we weren’t shivering cold even though the temps hovered around 70*.
When I turned 14 I traded my canvas raft for a 9’8” long surf board and was one of the very few female along the beaches that surfed.
Over the years most of my vacations included a beach … and for a while I lived on the beach in AL. When I moved to be with Sweetie it was with the understanding our retirement place would include a beach. Besides the mountains I am most happy here.
Sweetie joined the same beach club so growing up we shared all this memories too. Once the blazing summer Is over, we will be going to our beaches a couple of times a week. It is the only place where Sweetie surrenders to the ocean and at this point that’s important to him.
Twins …I have the same “umbrella” and love mine. I also bought a plastic beach rug that I put under it so we don’t get so full of sand. To be honest that doesn’t really bother me. And some of my best friends are permanently morning to th le beach I go to. We made memories growing up on the beach all the way through high school and we plan to make many more now with our children and grandchildren… as life spins on

Re: September Sunday
It seems like half the people I know travel to spend time at the beach every year because they love it. I am thrilled there are so many beach options for them to enjoy. It just caught my attention when bittersweet didn't understand why someone would choose not to go to beach when they had the opportunity.
I made more progress on the 4 room move. Making declutter decisions seems to be getting easier. Maybe I am just becoming numb and want it done.

Re: September Sunday
I am excited I have spun up a bag of wool I carded and have been working on for the past how ever many weeks.
I have another batch blended up to work on later maybe tomorrow of this grey heather.
Then some not heather darker grey after that.
I can get the heather spun and bag it up for plying when I get to that part.
So happy because this will take up less room too!
Yea!
