Closet got emptied and reloaded other than scarves and bags. I managed to donate 1 coat so far.
Third load of laundry is going. Most of the second load was "line dry" type stuff. Some coats had it in the instructions, and dh has 2 newer sweatshirts that I don't want to shrink before he has the chance to wear them.
Two local CFL football teams are having their 57th (?) annual Labour Day Classic rivalry game. Hamilton vs. Toronto They are an hour's drive apart depending on traffic. It's also called the QEW rivalry because that is the highway that connects the 2 cities. Dh is watching the pregame now.
Still haven't decided what to make with the ground meat. It's starting to look like Cheeseburger Hamburger Helper.
Later...
Hall closet is completely done. I donated 7 bags/purses. All laundry is now done as well. Just stuff hanging to dry in the bathroom.

Re: Happy Labour Day Monday PWYC
HRH picked up dstepson and they went out to breakfast together early-early this morning because dstepson has the day off. They went to Waffle House and were the only ones there! (very unusual - I guess Waffle Houses mostly have working customers and everyone was off their schedules today).
Ya'll have funnier stories than me! I think my workplaces were too serious!
I was a young temp secretary, assigned outside the manager's office of a large manufacturing plant while his usual secretary was sick. He must have mentioned her absence (and replacement) to two friends who were coming by to pick him up for lunch. Instead of arriving like normal people and waiting like others, they burst in, flashing "ID", announcing they were government agents (they were wearing suits), here to arrest the boss, and for me to tell him to come out of his office but not tell him who they were. I was pretty deadpan about it, and rang through to his office saying, "two men are here to see you" or something like that. He rushed out, already calling their first names and saying, "leave her alone!". LOL They thought I'd caught on to their joke, but it was only my general bewilderment - I was already too intimidated by the boss for it to get worse if he was arrested.
Awww... .. got a call sitting here. Dd26 has Covid for the first time. She sounds quite sickish but says her symptoms came on Saturday and she already feels a little better. Dsonil was out getting her more OTC meds. They are trying to isolate the best they can from each other because so far he tests negative. Awww... .. She's arranged all at-home work for the week.

Re: Happy Labour Day Monday PWYC
DBro and DSIL dropped by for a visit that lasted 2 hours. I enjoyed every moment of it.
DD13 was dropped off at our home 24 hours before expected. DD48 texted me this morning to say she would bring DD13 here in the morning to get her school backpack and then she would take DD13 to school. I responded positively. Then a couple hours after that text exchange DD48 dropped DD13 off at our house and left with no explanation. DD13 didn't know why DD48 abruptly changed her mind. There are many things I will never understand, and I have no expectation that DD48 will change. I will just go with all's well that ends well. DD13 is safe, enjoyed her time with DD48 and is now happy to be home.
I made another pot of my favorite soup today. I am addicted to the taste, high nutritional value and how it makes me feel when I eat it.
DS16 and I made more baby-step progress with the 4 room move. 5 guitars, amps, cases & stands were gathered and discussed. No one is ready to part with them. So, we found a place to put them. I added the piano keyboard to that location. DS16 collection of backpacks and suitcases were gathered in one spot and laid out side by side. I had hopes that he would part with some of them, but he wasn't willing. WHAT IS IT with DS16 and DD13 holding tight to their possessions? It doesn't make sense to me to keep about a dozen backpacks and suitcases. There are some that DS16 hasn't been used in a decade and others that he has never used. He says they are sentimental to him and have good memories from when we got them. Part of me wants to make them get rid of STUFF. However, I do recognize this desire to tightly hang on to possessions could be linked to being abandoned (that word is the legal term the court uses) by their parents. So I am not fighting this suitcase/backpack battle today. We filled the suitcases with backpacks and they are all being kept.

It is now officially too hot in the direct sun for me to be comfortable working in the garden. I'll go back out later this afternoon when it's shady. I did get everything on the list done, though, plus a bit more. In the meantime, I'm going to listen to my audiobook and do a bit of crocheting.

Happy birthday, Nancy!!!
Kathryn, are you having any luck getting blessed back online with us?
I can't think of any one particular most funny thing -- I mean, a high school is constantly having funny things happen. Mine are similar to Rose's. One time, a colleague reported that a student wrote in a journal entry, "I knew he was dead, because I saw that reefer hanging on the door." Once I was teaching Romeo & Juliet and The Lilies of the Field during the same semester. One of ds's friends was absolutely not into it. On the semester exam, he wrote: "I don't know about any of it. The last thing I remember, Homer Smith was building a church for Romeo and Juliet to get married in and I was just wishing they would hurry up and die."
Today was pretty ordinary, and another First. DS and I, and the dgrands, went to the annual Labor Day picnic and DS and friends played music; DGS sang "Rocky Top" -- a favorite of dh's, and of course, it was dh that taught it to DGS. Keeping traditions alive, but bittersweet. A couple people asked me about dh, kinda hesitant, like they thought they remembered that he had passed away, but they weren't completely sure. I'm sure some of you have experienced that with a family member. It really didn't upset me; it's just one of those things. I guess I'm glad they think enough of him to remember to ask, you know? Nothing is really "triggering" to me -- except my own thoughts. When I am home alone and start thinking too much about dgrands, how much he wanted to be here for their milestones, how much I want to do everything to keep him alive in their memories -- that is what sets me off.
After the picnic (which is really a chicken stew sale) we went to dmom's and TA DA -- we FINALLY got her laptop set up and got her an account with Wmart so she can order online for pick-up or delivery. We could NOT get her phone back online though, because she has no idea what her apple id is or her icloud password is or anything. We were amazed that her email worked. It has been years since she has used any of this. SMH.
After all that, we went home. DS had one more "event," supper with his inlaws, but I came home and took a nap. It was hot outside and I was peopled-out. But I have revived, have clothes in the washer, and I have divided the gallon of stew I bought into four small ziplock bags for future use. Kinda sad because dh LOVED this stew sooo much. It was one of those things he always listed as his favorite meal of the year -- this stew and my dmom's Christmas breakfast.
Tomorrow, I have an overwhelming day.
* drug store
* insurance office
* bank
* fill up car
* go to the new gynecologist -- Next Town
* go to T*rget and buy baby gift for a shower Sunday
* go to dgs' ballgame (at ballfield I've never been to, but not too far from the doctor's office)
I'm a little uneasy about the doctor's visit, but so ready to have someone do something about this rash on my breast that I am looking forward to meeting her. DDIL is really impressed with the doctor and her NPs.
I really have a LOT to do around here... last week I did pretty much NOTHING... but I don't know how this is going to go -- tomorrow is busy, and Wednesday is busy, and sometime this week, I need to take dmom to see the movie Reagan. We both want to see it, so I told her we would go one afternoon. If we go before 4:00 pm, it's cheaper.
