Magical because it's a gorgeous day here in the village. For me, clear sky, cooler temps, low humidity. Makes me happy to be home and happy for the quiet today. I hope the village is magical for you, both here, and in your own little corner of the world today.

Like magic I woke up a few min. later ddoggo came in the room.
Got up after three clock was off so got that reset bc of a power surge while I was at church yesterday.
Walked.
Bs was in ack land bc of bday treat foods only 70 once.
Journaled and clean sheets are on the bed.
Put a zipper in this needs more practice .... to be continued did the mitered corners not my prettiest work
learning as I go on these.
More laundry on the 3rd tub one more to go I think.
Class was not magical but is done listened to it on a break.

make taco soup this is the first time I made this but not really much different than when I used to stretch chili with Tom. sauce
when there were kids at home. It was good is cooling now before I freeze or put it in the fridge. Got one pt. one qt. and a sauce dish to taste.

processed mail got my b1 get 1 afe' card for my bday. Too smokey for that today.

I had a magical moment on our walk seeing two young fawns cross the street and they joined the doe & I got a yt of em.

Good Morning!

I am in the 6th hour of my day and decided it was time to sit down for a break. I am enjoying a bowl of my favorite soup for my first meal of the day along with a fresh glass of tea.

DD13 was taken to school with no problems. Although we need to have another talk about the frequency of hair washing.

DS16 has left for work. Mr Independent comes/goes from the house through his own door so it is changing the frequency that we talk in person. We still talk on the phone a dozen times a day. We talked this morning while he was driving to work. I have DS16 homeschool lessons planned and assignments on his calendar to do after he gets off work. He wants to go watch his girlfriend play volleyball this evening so he will be super motivated to get his schoolwork done so he can go to the game.

DH is experiencing another TGA episode. I am documenting it in Members only.

I cooked 2 lbs of sausage and BBQ'd half dozen chicken breast tenders this morning to add to our ready-to-eat stash.

Deep cleaning and decluttering will continue today. DS16 previous walk-in closet is done. His previous bedroom is getting closer to being finished. I can see tiny progress in this BIG MESSY project.

We have some suburban deer here, too, Nancy. The does & fawns are so sweet. We get them often in our backyard. They are welcome to eat the grass but not the landscaping plants!

Woke up before the alarm & puttered a lot this morning. Did pick up & put away in several rooms, paid a bill, deleted a bunch of old emails & scrubbed all the lime scale off of my teapot using vinegar on a scrubby sponge. Looks brand new . I also made two batches of macaroni salad & washed the pots & dishes. DH likes his with traditional elbow shapes but I like it with small shells. Now that we each have our own I won't have to make it as often, & making two batches at a time is hardly any more time consuming than making just one batch.

Heading over to the Kitchen/Recipe section to post a delicious zucchini recipe.

Also feels magical for me moving forward, finally, from the broken wrist. No more surgery hanging over me, just getting better. I have some meaty thoughts for later, about moving forward and genealogy goals fermenting....

I've walked the dog, only two laps, but getting back into it. Eating a healthy breakfast. I need to work on my eating habits!

I have such a list, thinking of Lucylee with her five, I feel the same way, only with maybe twenty, lol. Today I just want to stay home. I took out chicken thighs for our supper tonight, will be nice to grill out, and not so hot.

This has been sitting forever. When I can get the dog in I'm going upstairs to stamp a bit. Perhaps I'll set a timer and work 15 min in the garage first. If she thinks I'm out there she will want in for sure.

lucylee, I did see your post yesterday and hope you can feel optimistic today. Just to reassure you that you do have a broken-record friend out here, a creative project can be done whether the tv is on or off. Today on Twins' magical day, I see you as a painter - watercolors and smock - with easel set before the tv or not, making a delightful mess around you, a lovely painting emerging. You would say to yourself, "I must get up at dawn in order to catch the morning light in my studio."

Groceries are put away. Brunch was good. Spill mopped up.

Have been working on organizing in sewing areas. Finally got the leftovers from the machine quilter sorted between fabric and batting and put away. Ready to do some cutting for next project.

Twins', I started getting stamping yt videos on my feed and I think it's because I purchased Tim Holtz fabric. He has started his stamping videos for the various holidays and is advertising on there that his new fabric lines will also have yts coming out soon. Anyway, I glanced at one and thought, wow, how does Twins' choose from so many remarkable materials/papers, and that's just one designer. Creativity tsunami!

Nancy, if I sat down to put in a zipper right now, I don't think I could remember without having to research again what to do. In my youth I used to do it on big, simple seams like for a dress, so if it was small tedious work I'd be .

There is a cat patting my thigh. I may have forgotten something. He is sighing at me.

LOL, Harriet. I am definitely not a painter.
However, a dfriend texted me and said she needed my help on a “project” and I was the most qualified person she knew.
She is working on a 175-year anniversary for her church, putting together a pamphlet using several different articles from their 150th celebration.
She really didn’t need much from except a listening ear, and I know I was as much a distraction as anything (bc we had to catch up on all our last several weeks happenings.)

Anyway, that was nice, and I’m much more optimistic than I was last night.
She made a statement re: her cousin whose mother just passed away.
She said, “I told her, just pick ONE thing to do each day, big or little, just ONE thing, concrete on just that thing, and when you do that you’ll have a sense of accomplishment and you’ll feel more like doing the next one thing.”

I told her I really needed to hear that today.

I'm enjoying being home so much. My zinnias are attracting butterflies and the basil attracting bees. I was outside to watch for awhile. I deadheaded the geraniums in front, noticed neighbor across the street took hers out and updated with chrysanthemums, I think.

I've been upstairs stamping - I got a shipment of Stampin' up stuff while we were away, so unboxed last night and tried out new toys today. Never felt very inspired, but I had fun. Harriet, I use Stampin up stuff almost exclusively - all the colors match, with ink, cardstock, designer paper and all. I ordered before we left, but somehow did not check my card stock before ordering. So I may need to place another, need to spend some time inventorying current colors and order all that I need.

Some thoughts about genealogy. I've made the two goals that I've had for my genealogy work, at least, I will as soon as the journal is published this month. What's next? My plan had been to write so much of what I have so it's preserved and documented, but I've done done anything toward that goal in the last months. To do that I need to get over some of the perfectionism. And I want to be recertified by March 2028, so that means that I need to submit an article or narrative for evaluation by Sept/Oct 2027, six months before. And whatever I'm submitting needs to meet genealogical standards, so i can't just throw something together now, and then use it later for recertification. Recertification is assuming that I am well, etc. Do we really need goals in retirement?

And so many people I've researched but OTOH, have I "reasonably exhaustive research" required by standards?

I wanted to say to Lucylee that I would have been proud of your dgs at the game. Even tho he got turned around he knew how to handle himself and I would assume that was a life lesson to pay attention to where he came into the bathroom. I've done the same thing myself. So don't count him out going with dbil perhaps?

Did return for Amazon, need to pack and take it for mailing tomorrow.
sorted papers for temple and HOA.
writing a little...
supper prep underway, sweet potato into oven to bake, chicken into marinade.

Dh has been troubleshooting the issues with his (2011?) Lexus convertible. He found out before we left that the battery was dead - don't know when it was last driven, and now he can't charge it back up. So he's been changing out one thing after another and now needed to go to CVS for batteries for the key fob (I think.) So he will will pick up the prescription toothpaste that I'm supposed to be using.

I took ds to pick up his new truck. He traded, in his micro-managing way, for a used F150 4wD Club Cab, white. The most fireman-ish of all fireman-ish vehicles, I'm sure. Better for their budgeting plans to let the dually go. He had already done all the paperwork and it was waiting for him in a bank parking lot.

He talked pretty much the whole time - let me know about a prayer concern for one thing. I told him dstepson was looking at a week and a half out of state, which we all need to know.

Got to see dgdC. She had "made" her shirt she wore to school today. A plain white tee she'd tie-dyed. She managed to do a polka dot that had each color very clear and distinct. I usually make a mess of tie-dying because I don't know when to quit and muddle the colors.

HRH made his famous spaghetti this evening and we watched a Perry together.

Not hearing the nagging phone calls from the pharmacy that his eye drops have been filled. Hmmm... .. I really wanted to pick that up before dark.
