Swingin' Saturday

Post by bittersweet »

Good morning, village! Today is swingin' Saturday, in honour of Miniature Golf Day https://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/fu ... e-golf-dayWhat tasks can you take a swing at and knock right off that todo list? Or will you put on some swing style music and dance through your day getting things done?

I think I'll end up doing a bit of both, but I'm more of a rock music person when cleaning the house - some Meatloaf or Glass Tiger or Trooper or even Billy Joel. Yep... I'm showing my age

Before I get started on my day, though, I'm going to lay out a lovely continental style breakfast for y'all - muffins, croissants, bagels, coffee, tea, juice, yogurt, and fruit of every kind. Then I'm going to sit on a bench over here and sip my coffee in the quiet of the morning.

Bittersweet: thanks for opening up the village this morning!

Does the SHE village even have a golf course?!

The first "Swing" I thought of was music, not golf!

Not moving much except my insides which are taking a step towards normality. Now to make sure they stop with just that first step!

I did remember to take my vitamins this morning. Yesterday was a swing and a miss with that in the morning, I thought of it several times and kept getting sidetracked. On the drive to dgs' I remembered again because the most important pill in the cocktail is my allergy pill. Thankfully, I keep extras in my purse so took one while driving!

Dh is off on a walk with his friend while he's feeling good. I wish he wouldn't push himself so much but perhaps he is really better this morning. Although, on the morning I was better, I could only be up and moving around for 15 -20 minutes at a time and then had to sit down to rest. So I did a lot of playing on the ground with dgs. I didn't need to lie down, as I had the day before, I certainly didn't have the energy to be standing, let alone out for a walk.

My focus for today will be tidying, possibly some vacuuming or dusting, help dh get packed, pick up my ADD meds from the store, and hit a bank machine to do a deposit. Oh, and pay bills.

Tidying is the most important part of that. Repotting some plants should also happen since the weather is nice and I can do it on the balcony.

We haven't had rain for 15 days now and none is in the forecast until Tuesday so my balcony plants are nearly dead. I don't care too much. The neighbour above does overwater which is both a pain (it drips onto my balcony for about 30 minutes after) and a blessing since the plants would definitely have died if they didn't get some moisture from her overwatering. Dh told her to stop it because I had got wet one day when lying out there for a rest, but then she and I talked balcony to balcony (they are newish and we haven't met them properly yet) and I explained that if she can keep her plants in the corners, I actually don't mind because it saves my plants.

Awww, thank you bsweet for getting us going and for the lovely breakfast buffet.

I'm heading out to walk ddog, maybe only one lap. I have nearly 56K steps for the week and I'm just done. 7500 steps daily was my goal for a total of 52500 steps, but then I realized I'd easily get to 56K which is 8K daily.

So I need to get walk w dog in, she's complaining and it's not quiet here.

Kathryn, you sound much better! (for the record, one day this week I took my p.m. meds/vitamins at breakfast, so you're doing just fine!)

Good Morning!

I was surprised to wake up and discover I had a great night sleep. I wasn't sure I could lay down to sleep and halfway expected to spend the night in the recliner. Nope. I slept in bed like normal. I woke up at 3:30am and took an Ibuprofen because my mouth was uncomfortable. But I promptly fell back asleep for another 3 hours. I am thankful.

I went outside to watch the sunrise and enjoy the fresh morning air. I made myself not walk like normal but just stand still and be in the moment. I guess it is a good sign that less than 24 hours after surgery I am having to resist doing things. My energy level is high and I want to be up and busy. I suspect it is going to be a long 72 hours of forcing myself to not be active. Note to self....if boredom is all I have to complain about then I need to count my blessings.

I made green scrambled eggs this morning for a high protein soft food. I discovered that I could buy in bulk organic fresh spinach leaves and put them in portion size baggies before freezing. I take baggie of greens out of the freezer and immediately squeeze the bag to crush the frozen leaves. My spinach consumption has soared since I discovered this. I am thrilled but also frustrated.... How did I not know this before?

had a long talk with dh bc he kindly needed to understand that he is hurting his relationship with dd younger and us with his anger and inability to tell us why he is so angry before it becomes a blow up issue.

He finally talked to me and told me why and how he was feeling- thank Goodness -- he was nice all day yesterday but nice without communication makes me and others walk on eggshells.

The main issue is that he feels he needs to control the quiet etc. and what goes on in the house and esp. with the dogs. The dogs, right now, are not that attached to him bc they are having fun with the other dog and with dd. This really bothers him. The one dog of ours has fear of missing out and barks and barks but dd and I are trying to work with her. That was the straw that broke the camels back.

Dh doesn't play with the dogs but likes the adoration from them. They still love him but there is an excitement with dd younger.

I told him that we all want him to be happy but holding things in and being mean/and blowing up doesn't help him get what he needs from us -- it just pushes everyone far away. He understood that for today. That we all want to hear what he is feeling and see if we can come up with a compromise.

This behavior is happening more and more. His bit of OCD and things that bother him are happening more and more as he ages. Of course I am perfect ;)

Oh well - he talked - it's a good thing! (I don't think Martha Stewart meant "it's a good thing!" for this ;)

hello d Lucy!!! you have been truly busy! hope you get to rest today!

I need to put away the clean dishes,
take mom her meds
take my meds.
stop at the sporting goods place and get 3 chairs for the Octoberfest. I don't want to go bc it's supposed to be 90 degrees. dh isn't going bc it's going to be hot and his back on top hurts (he has been bending over more and more since the trac). It's too hot for him - it would not be safe.

dinner tonight: enchiladas with the left over chicken from the other night.

I made Juliette child's hamburgers, carrot salad, cucumber salad last night and mom was happy. tomatoes from garden as well. enjoying the last kiss of summer tomatoes

bw2, both dh and I resemble this:
things that bother him are happening more and more as he ages. Of course I am perfect
I think we're going through Tar-jay to look at comforters - still need one for our king-sized bed. I'm torn between getting a duvet - which IMHO is more durable/washable but more work - and a comforter that may need to go to the cleaners, especially since the dog sleeps on our bed. Dh febreezed the bed and that smell annoyed me for two nights last week.

After Tar-jay I think we're going to the river but it's going to be hot, so I don't know how much time outside. We're getting highs in the low nineties right now, and we're in extreme drought conditions.
