The garlic biscuits are out of the oven now.

I have to say on the quilting topic, yesterday I was intrigued by how one gal was cutting strips from her stash
for a jelly roll and how she put it together. Very interesting that one could do that from on hand fabrics.
Walk is done.

bittersweet, I first sewed clothing. My dmother liked to sew but taught first grade, so, not much time. But she had a nice sewing machine and let me have all the time at it I wanted, let me join a "fabric club" by mail. Both my grandmothers sewed lots of family clothing but made quilts for their fun/rewards. It made a big impression on me that quiltmaking must be the happy stuff.

Best book to teach to make quilts, IMO, is Quilts, Quilts, Quilts, original version 1988 by McClun and Knownes, and I've taught groups from it several times. To me, it still has the most sensible order of easy to difficult, with results. I'm teaching two of my grands in that order now. I know there's a newer version, just don't know anything about it - looks like it has other patterns, so I wonder if it is supposed to be more advanced. YouTube has so much free info on making a quilt top it can make your head spin. Lots of fun to try. For putting the quilt layers together to finish a large quilt, though, everyone seems to have gone to sending off to professionals. It can take twice the time of the top, so sometimes discourages.

With so much potential for snowy days, Alberta seems to have the perfect quiltmaking weather.

Nancy, now that I might do. I'm always too cheap for jelly rolls and layer cakes (precut quilt pieces).

Dd is running late and has called. Sunday afternoon restaurant problems around here. Everyone has lines out the doors. She left dsonil in line and went to another store for an errand. She asked her Dad if he was starving. He said he actually already starved to death a half hour ago. But she pays him no attention.

The rare occurrence of every single dish being washed has happened here. So tough with just a dish drainer of limited space and not a dishwasher. We're always waiting for the last ones to dry.

One nice thing about the snow in the north - no mosquitos! Gosh mosquitos were bad here in the midwest this year - even with the drought.

oh my goodness - too funny about teaching an old dog new tricks. We all are trying to get dh not to feed the dogs or only feed them one cup. Not happening

I am sure, that even though you can't rescue all the fabric that these quilts were well loved and used to comfort the people they were made for! - I look at the well worn fabric as having been thoroughly loved! It would be so cool to know its history and whom loved the quilts!

I fed mom lunch - dd older picked up her up first, gave her meds and took her to a local chocolate shop. She bought peanut brittle - dd younger is terribly allergic to any nuts or the oils that come on mom's hands when she eats it. dd older didn't think it was problem bc she ate it out - I had to have mom wash her hands right away - well- dd has been rushed to the hospital enough times with just the nut oils on others hands on a table etc. . She uses her epi-pen but still needs to get to a hospital bc it's like a flair up - up it goes, steadies and then hits again and again.

I watched services
cut up cardboard for the garden weeds/soil - out there now.
emptied dw from last night and filled it again with dog/cat dishes and stray family dishes from last night.
folded towels and asked everyone to take up a pile to put away
more laundry done. now to flip flop laundry

To ans. LucyL. Q on crying... I rarely cry any more grief tears nearly 5 yrs.
I find my self singing & laughing more and getting mail with LH name on it does not bother me now.
Ann. dates are not as much of a challenge now that the fav. place we liked closed.
My ddoggo helps a lot.
I have been knitting and have knit up a dish cloth the star pattern one it still needs stitched together.

Interesting that you're using Claude, Kathryn, I follow some genealogy topics using AI but haven't dabbled in it.

I'm letting the day slip away but that's alright. I didn't get up until 10, dh had already left for a massage. He went to the office for awhile after that and is just now home. I walked the dog a lap too.

We went to dfriends at the river yesterday and last night dh went over to the birthday neighbor's for extended party. I read at home, had had enough people. I didn't sleep well.

Yesterday I received an email notice of "High Water Usage" for the HOA irrigation water. I think that is settled that it was probably from a leak that was repaired maybe in July? So I ran that down this morning, I hope.

I just bought the book quilt quilt quilts that you suggested d Harriet. I have been wanting to do something w dd's, d sil's and their girls - Canning, quilting etc. If they come they come if not it's okay!
I still have to pay, for dd Youngers and my woodworking class - I wish dd older came with. Maybe mom might want to come with. she was always a great carpenter.

it's been a rough time with dh. dd younger and dd older are butting heads a bit.

dd older says things -she needs to not go down that road. She told dd younger that my d nephew and his d wife wouldn't want dd younger over to spend time with the kids - what was the purpose - I don't know why.
praying that only nice things are said and if they disagree - agree to disagree with respect.

dd younger said she needed to leave the house because between dh's pouting, stubbornness, angry face and jealousness about the dogs, and dd older and her bumping heads- that she needed to visit with some friends. I wished her a good time.

Time to say a prayer of positivity and joy - - I won't go down dh's road - and I will say positive things for all. Hopefully my attitude will be positive and gratefulness will get everyone past this temporary time. Gratefulness is a good start!

cut up all the boxes for the garden - covering weeds - done!
d mom did some sweeping
emptied the celsius and the bottled water and organized it for easy reach.
a hello-yellow jacket is flying around the kitchen bc I let the door open - I need to find it and put it outside.
mom sat down again and is sound asleep. really cute!
turned on dw again - misc. things - so that we can have a clean dishwasher for dinner dishes.
whites are washing today instead of tomorrow
counters/stove finally clean
more sweeping done in the family room.
another flip flop of laundry done. My goodness - more laundry of mine found in the upstairs basket

I will soon make brown rice (for me) and white rice for everyone else - I am making Mexican rice, corn enchiladas with red sauce(premade canned) : some left over chicken, sautéed onions, mild jalapeño , others with poblanos and cheese. sliced avocados,

glad you are having a slip slide and away day d twins! good for you! glad you had fun with d friends at the river yesterday. hoping your water usage issues are not a problem.
We had that when our water heater was breaking. a very expensive venture for sure!

Did show n tell at the neighbors of bags I'd made up and kept some.
Got some ribbons on a great deal for draw strings.
They will do the sale again next weekend.

Y'all may be surprised, but I kept up with the time for 45 minutes and in that length of time, I I have
* put away groceries
* washed the few dishes sitting in the sink
* took my allergy shots
* checked for trash in my purse
* carried the garbage can to the road
* had one bathroom interruption
* caught up with checkbook

After the funeral, I went to Wmart and also filled up with gas.

NOW... FINALLY... my crazy 4 days are done, and as I told DGS yesterday, I do not have to do ANYTHING for the next 24 hours.
It's going to take a major family emergency to get me out of the house again.
Just to recap, since Thursday, I have
* attended two school parades
* attended two funerals, one out of town
* attended a community pep rally
* attended a high school football game
* got a haircut
* changed a gynecologist appt for the second time
* visited with dfriend
* attended Sunday School and church service
* took DGS out to eat (DGD wanted to go home with her mommy)

I'm falling asleep at this computer. I know it's not wise, but I've got to lie down for awhile, even if it is almost 6:00 pm.

she is now petting one of our dogs who is now asleep next to her on the couch.
