"Big Rocks" Wednesday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

What are the big rocks that you most need to get done? I'm trying today to focus on those, and let the "little rocks" settle in between if there's room. How do you prioritize?
Put the big rocks in first” is a time management analogy that means to prioritize your most important tasks and goals first. The idea is that if you don't schedule time for your big rocks, you'll never get to them.

The analogy is based on the idea of filling a jar with different sized items, such as rocks, pebbles, and sand:
Big rocks: The most important things in your life, like family, health, and relationships
Pebbles: Other things that matter, like work or school
Sand: Everything else, or the small stuff

If you put the sand or pebbles into the jar first, there won't be room for the rocks. The same is true in life: if you spend all your time on the small stuff, you won't have room for the things that are most important.

The concept of “big rocks” originated with Stephen Covey in his book The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. Here are some tips for identifying your big rocks:
Be clear and explicit about your big rocks
Set clear goals for those big rocks
Share your big rocks with your team and all your important stakeholders
Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let every new year find you a better [wo]man. Ben Franklin

Happy Birthday to CathyS & Sunny!

Twins - Thank you for the start. I like using the big rock prioritization. For me - Big rocks are the daily things that need to get accomplished. If/when I let them slide everything starts falling apart and I become overwhelmed. For me it quickly becomes a slippery slope where I spiral out of control. Once those daily tasks are done then I can add in other things.

Big rocks today are cooking related, smaller rocks are house related and set up related. I have a list going. We'll be at temple before 7:30 for services tonight.

I'm starting up a batch of challah in the breadmaker, and heading to grocery.

Home and later, going to CUOP and start a new post.

This will be the 3rd pony tail in 10 years!!

Thank you for the birthday wishes... I had ice cream for breakfast! (I also had a yogurt) There will be leftover Indian food for lunch and we are going out for supper with a gift card from my MIL.

Although I am trying VERY hard to not do anything, I have dealt with the cat litter AND started in on some dishes.

Happy Birthday Cathy & Sunny

Today I have written down my 3 big things I call them frogs.
Same concept.
#1 move branches from the front to the back for burning later. I got most moved and some twigs raked up to get to later. Done!
#2 fuel one rig closer to lunch so I can get deli food for my lunch as a treat. Rinsed off rig too as a bonus. X
#3 wash darks as I"m out of sox! LOL! Started the whites too the 1st load in dryer will be done in a bit.

I got mom her breakfast, brought it over and set it on the counter for her to heat up in the microwave.
She was in bed and not thrilled that I woke her up. I heard a Arhhhhh
I opened her window a bit and gave her the morning meds - she stayed in bed and was like a little kid relishing cozying back in bed when they hear there isn't any school. She wasn't thrilled that the water, I gave her, was cold lol.

I hope she heats up her food - I also got her lunch.
she is out of fruit. That was fast!

fixed mom's camera connection. We can see her again!

hello all.
I am trying to stick to a routine again.
