Chili is packed and ready for transport to the contest. I packaged 18 individual meals and have them in the freezer.

DD13 received her first 9 week report card today. School is already 1/4 over!

what still needs doing:
take laundry off stairs and put in baskets in the laundry room
flip flop and fold and put away.

mom is here - dinner is ready - more laundry has been flip flopped, folded and put away!

Breaking again. Dog is walked, challah is rising, need to clear kitchen counter again tho. Arranged little dessert things. I will make a little fruit bowl as alternative to sweets. I'm going to bake sweet potatoes and guest is bringing a salad.

This has been sitting awhile, "see" you all in the morning, when I'll be starting a slow and easy day, lol?

Had several things to take down stairs so did get those items put away and as a bonus ...
I have gotten my steps in for today yea!

P.m. routine includes "To do list for tomorrow" and I have nothing on the calendar and dh is out for the evening, until maybe 7 p.m. Time for research or stamping!

I am really really feeling put upon about entertaining. Dh sails in here at 5:30 and most of the work is done. Once he retires, we'll rethink this. Right now, it's "If you want to go to work and I'll stay home....blah blah blah...." I'm just tired.

Mom has decided again that she is right as reign re: drinking water, eating, and of course has been taking her meds well all her life. it's okay - she looks great today!!! easy to talk to - focused.

Twins… conversations of expectations and boundaries may be needed before you husband retires.sweetie and I had many conversations about both before I finally retired for good. I’m lucky because Sweetie has honored mine and I don’t feel guilty if I just want to sit in my reading chair and spend my day there or spend times traveling to see my friends.

Chili contest is in the history books for 2024. I did not win. There were 13 entries and each one of them was made by friends. I totally enjoyed the process of participating in the chili contest. It was filled with light-hearted competition and laughter. The judges are different every year so there is no predicting what they will like. This year the judges chose the chili with the most beans and chili powder as the winner. I had some of it and it was incredibly good.

It feels like I can shift to a lower gear because we have the next five days with no appointments. We just have public school, homeschool, and normal doings.

Was thinking that we all need to synchronize our days so 1/2 of us have productive days while the others have a lost day, then reverse.

Proud of you for 45/TOTHs, Twins'. I need to get back to that whenever we can find spaces between days with long appts.

Tomorrow is an appt for me, the next day a gen prac appt for HRH. His is not far away, at least. Tomorrow we will be driving a while, and lots of walking in the extensive building on concrete floors. I do think there is a tv in the waiting room, so if he can get a seat looking at that he'll have something to do, at least. They always have it on the house renovation shows, tearing out walls, etc. Always by the time I get back to him he has made friends and usually the conversation is about the shows: "those people have more money than sense", lol.

I really should make out a 3x5 of discussion points and questions for dr.

I didn't make slaw today. Ever since I started intentionally making smaller batches for just two people, HRH has been asking me to make it more often, lol. So, it's almost been every day having slaw for a while and I'm glad to have a day with other things. Funny how the mental image of not having much (gasp) signals to us that we simply must fix that.

I'm glad so many of you are voting early. It crosses a to-do off your list and it frees you up to ignore all the tension of these last two weeks because it no longer matters what happens, your vote is cast. And, for those of your receiving texts from the campaigns, you can respond with STOP, guilt free because you've done your supportive bit.

Exercise class was hard because she had us work our muscles (the class is usually chair stretching.) I'll be really sore in a few days, for now I'm just sore because I had that on top of 2 hours of balcony work, on top of and hour of window cleaning and tidying up.

Dinner was easy, meatloaf and baked potato with a salad.

Ds called to let me know dstepson is in hospital undergoing tests having been sent in by work, suspected cardiac embolism. This is where I feel the distance from them, it isn't like I can dash over to babysit while his wife stays with him in the hospital. They have no family in town at all, I hope his father and stepmother are on their way now (they are 4 hours away, which beats my 19 hours by long shot.

As well, ds and ddil were at the ER with dgs3 last evening since he's still sick and was complaining about his ear. He's on antibiotics now but no-one slept well last night and ddil is exhausted since she has 6 a.m. starts all this weeks. Again, I can't babysit because we have to get up to the cottage to close it.

So it has been an evening.

The narrowed opening on the window is forcing the same amount of wind through a smaller space with all sorts of predictable as well as new behaviours. I think the work done today will have to be undone, at least during this time of year when we want as much air as possible coming into the apartment. Despite strong winds, the kitchen is still 72 degrees and the bedroom is 73 degrees because not much of the cooler kitchen air can make it through the apartment to the bedroom wing. Tomorrow will be cooler but right now it is still mid-60s so the air coming in isn't cold enough to offset the heat from the radiators. It will be another rough night.
