Good Morning!

I am watching the weather with interest. The weather controls when my summer gardening season will end. The 10-day forecast looks favorable for the garden to continue through Nov 26th at least. That is over 2 weeks later than normal. Today is 75F and sunny.

Today I want to finalize the painting of the garden metal art and put it into winter storage.

Focusing on what empowering decisions and actions I can do before the TOTH. These small choices won't be earth shattering but will be a positive in my life for this hour of this day.

Apparently yesterday was national "Clean out your refrigerator" day. I guess it's because Thanskgiving in the U.S. is coming up. (Is it this Thursday?)

I didn't do this yesterday. I guess I could do it today or tomorrow.

Choosing what actions I will do until TOTH felt energizing & empowering. That might be too big of description for the small actions I took but I'll take the positive results. I am motivated to do it again this hour. But first...I'm going to eat breakfast that DH cooked. I love his omelettes.

DH is slowly losing his memory & ability to do things. At first, he had days when he lost short term memory and then it would come back. After 6 times of that happening this year, it has stopped. But now he doesn't remember random things. Where do we keep the cutting board? I show him and he realizes that he puts it there when he empties the dishwasher. He can remember things in one context but not in another. Yesterday he didn't remember how to drive to K*** road. We used to live on that road, and he has driven these roads all his life....but he couldn't remember which direction it was located. Someone told me it takes approx. 7 years to completely lose memory. I know that is a wild guesstimate but it feels better than no clue. If we have several more years together then I want to make the best of each hour.

LadyM… I’m right there with you. Sweetie has started his memory journey 7 years ago. He still has a lot going for him but I’m sure it might have something to do with the meds he’s been on for the last 2.5 years. Yesterday he told me he was missing two of his little screw drivers. I have no idea where he misplaced them. The other night he received an Amazon package which he opened while we were watching tv. When I was picking up my footprints yesterday, I put his package and envelope on his desk chair. When he saw them he said… where did you find them? I’ve been looking all over for them. They were sitting on the coffee table right where he left them.

This morning I needed to operate on Ernestine. His rollers had jammed and I needed help fixing him. Sweetie had no problem figuring out how to fix the problem and put everything back together even though he had t been with me when I took it apart. He often washes the left over dinner pots and pans, but I never know where he ends up putting things … it’s like a treasure hunt. Doesn’t help when I show him where they need to go because he can’t remember what I tell him from one day to the next.

It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood with fall like temps and low humidity.

I love the idea of working on empowering decisions so that one makes positive but not earth jarring decisions to make life better!

d rose it's good to hear that the meds have helped him. I want to talk to mom's dr. about that as well. it's true - it doesn't help to tell them bc they don't remember - I and the kids have that all the time with d mom.

We had to stop my grandfather driving bc he got turned around - even though he knew the area well. (plus there was a pond by his house). We knew mom had a problem when there was a detour and she couldn't figure it out- she called me very confused. it's hard bc it comes and goes.

starting slow here - I woke up at 9:10 but stayed in bed until almost 10 am. dh accidentally took my Keys to mom's house and car keys so her meds will be late. dd older took him to the dealership with her. he loves that

Dh and I came home around 8:00 pm. (dd older stayed until 3pm and I got there at 2pm) he had a large plug in his breathing tube/trac. he was barely able to get air - his fighting me on care then he ends up in the hospital. At least dd older got him to go to the er in yesterday morning.
no pneumonia is a good thing.

We had to push our cooking date to next week. cousin had a lot of things this week - she is exhausted and I think we all need a break. I still have to cook today bc the meat is thawed but I can freeze it and use it this week for our meals.

I've been out to get vaccinations at CVS, and I picked up one donut and a latte (unflavored)) at Dunkin. Dh is back from Torah study but heading out soon for the local football game. Gorgeous day for it.

I have new stamps to play with today and I think I'll get busy.

Yes, it is sunny today here. By mid-afternoon the temperature will be perfect for a walk outside. Very wet ground, so I'm happy things are drying out a little in that way.

About putting away utensils, etc. - are there such things as labeled utensil drawer-dividers? I really don't know but I think someone could make some money on that product. It's trendy now (or it was - I usually notice trends as they are waning) to label everything cleverly with labels to be seen right out in the open as decor, almost. Wondering if attractively labeled drawer fronts might be a benefit.

Grateful to hear blessed's dh does not have pneumonia.

Mystery, you are doing so well on laundry. Why are your dh's shirts the bane that they are? I'm assuming he may need crisp button shirts for work? I remember when HRH changed to polo shirts and the simplicity of wash, light dryer flip, drip-dry, done.

Twins', that's great that you will be creative today. I know those who receive your cards are delighted.

Cathy, good job making the consistent plan for chores over two days.

I am making some orders of our vitamins. HRH suddenly announces, "look, that's the last one I have", when surely he could have noticed there were almost none in the bottle long before. lol.

Made my smoothie this a.m. without a strawberry in the house, and no acai powder either. Sigh. Too sweet - I was making faces.

when does spring start for you?

April 10th is our typical last freeze. The last couple of years I have planted in mid March without a problem. I accepted there was a chance I could lose the tender plants by planting them that early but covered them when needed and they didn't have a problem. It won't work that way every year though. Hum...I wonder since we are having a late freeze this year if it will also shift spring planting until later.

I spent some time in the kitchen. We now have more ingredients ready to eat.
** Spaghetti pasta & sauce
** Ground beef
** Chicken & egg salad

Because teenage boys are lousy at always returning my dishes, I decided to switch the way I store food in refrigerator. I started putting ready-to-eat food in these containers. They stack well and are easy to see what is in the container. I also put a piece of 2" wide blue tape on top of each container with a description of what is inside and the date.
