(((Blessed))) I just admire you so much -- helping dh with his care, and looking after your dmom -- you really have a lot on your plate, and you always seem to manage it so well and keep a good attitude. I know it is easy to be disheartened, as you said, but my goodness -- anyone would be! Your family is truly blessed to have YOU! (((BIG HUGS)))

Cathy, you sound like things are going smoothly for y'all, but I know you must have a lot on your mind too. (((BIG HUGS)))
That sounds like a really good idea for Twins -- about the dies. (Hope you find an easy solution, Twins!)

Hope you're feeling much better now, Nancy! Clean sheets always go a long way in setting my mood! :D

(((Rose))) with dh... I know it has to be difficult. (((LadyM)))
My dgf had some dementia with his Parkinson's disease, but it really didn't show up until very late in his illness. My uncle, OTOH, did have a lot of anger and temper with my aunt, but -- as I've told y'all -- they were having problems in their marriage a long while before hand, and it's hard to say if dementia made him harder to get along with, or if he just has a difficult personality. (I think the latter.) At any rate, he is on medication now that makes him calmer. I'm not even sure if he is still doing his 21-day rehab or not. I'm embarrassed to say that I have just let my Dcousin take over on his care. If she asks me to do something, I will do it, but I'm not looking for time to spend with him. I guess I am somewhat still blaming him for the loss of daunt, which is (probably) illogical, but it is what it is.

LadyM, my dmom was talking about how late our first frost is going to be. Since I have never gardened, I never have paid attention, but she used to have a garden every year, and she said usually we have had our first frost before Halloween. This year, we are expecting it maybe next week, but here we are in the second half of November.

All I can think is What In the Heck Am I Getting People for Christmas??? :? I'm just really procrastinating on shopping, online or otherwise.

Well, I have finally gotten rested and settled for the evening. Watching Georgia and Tennessee, and dgs is running around doing some sort of pretend-football league.
We went to this local fireman's festival in town today. DGD was all excited about it, but it was not all it was built up to be, IMHO. There were firetrucks from every department in the county, and I think they were letting kids get in the trucks and see them, but my dgrands weren't interested in that at all -- all they wanted to do was get in the bouncy houses (2, plus a big slide) and then they played a few little games they had -- I don't know how to describe them, one was kinda like a nerf-ball type axe-throwing thing... I don't know. They had cornhole games and horseshoes set up, and several things, but dgrands weren't really interested in that, and there was a singer who played the guitar and had a piano player with him, and he was really good, I thought, but nobody was really listening to him. The highlight of the day, I think, for dgd was getting her face painted like a butterfly. The highlight of the day for dgs was probably coming home, LOL. He was not overly impressed by the whole deal. We ate BBQ, which was -- are y'all sitting down? -- $37 dollars for two plates and one sandwich combo (chips and drink.) BUT -- apparently, all the money went to the fire departments, so it was a good cause. I spent almost $50 there! (The highlight of the day for me was the shaved ice.) Almost all the fire departments in the county are all volunteer.

The "excitement" of the day was when, ironically, ddil called me and said her attic smoke alarm kept going off, and she had checked up there twice, and she couldn't find anything that smelled smokey or looked off -- so I let her talk to our cousin who is a fireman. He told her it sounded like it was just the smoke alarm itself, to change the battery (she had no idea when it had been changed, and the alarm itself had been up there several years.) So I took her a battery, went up there myself and I saw nothing amiss -- and by then this had been going on over 30 minutes. I told her in that length of time, surely we would see or smell something suspicious.

I am glad she didn't have to have the fire department come into that house... go to J&C.

DGS is with me tonight and it just feels better having him around. I guess Saturdays are hard because of all the football on TV, and knowing if dh were alive, we'd be at the game, and it's just a different sort of day. I took a long nap after we got home from the park, and since I've been up, we've eaten supper, filled up the car, and gone to the post office.
Tomorrow is another day.

Good evening, all!

Harriet, the shirts are my bane because, yes, they are button down dress shirts, and no, I do. not. iron. I toss them in the dryer for 10 minutes or so, then quickly take them out and put them on hangers to finish drying. But I have to keep the dryer going while I’m hanging each shirt, or the others will get wrinkled. So it’s grab shirt quickly, restart the dryer, hang the shirt, repeat 8-10 times. He wears polos on Fridays and when school is not in session, and I am very grateful.

As for dementia, my mom lost her ability to speak long before she could get mean. A friend’s mom had the reverse, sort of — she’d always been ill-tempered, and she turned sweet.

We went to the play at DH’s school, The Outsiders. They did a good job as always.

Just wanted to peek in before bed. Sweet dreams, everyone! (And good morning to Lynlee, wherever she may have gone.)
