Home again --
* sheets in the dryer, towels & underwear in the washer
* stopped by dbil's and got ticket from him to put online for sale
* have photos downloading (uploading?) to Sh utterfly to try to choose some of dgrands to put on my Christmas cards
We ate at W affle H ouse. A pecan waffle with maple syrup and bacon is probably not on anyone's diet plan, but I'm glad I gave you a smile,
Blessed!
Good talk with ds -- nothing heavy or anything, just him talking about getting some football films from one of dh's former players, talking about his music and his priorities about what kind of people he likes to work with, just a nice evening, making me proud to know how strongly he feels about certain things. Sometimes I feel like he grew up well despite having two crazy parents, but maybe we did something right.
Now...
[x] tickets

[ ] add to photo book/gift idea for ds
[x] try to come up with something to contribute to teacher group tomorrow since I was one of the loudest voices crying in the wilderness:
-- "We don't have to have a guest speaker; we can just have a discussion! Everyone can bring holiday tips and recipes!"
Now we'll see if I can come up with something. My best tip: Don't try to bake a 20 lb ham with 2 cans of pineapple juice in a shallow roasting pan.
Editing at almost 11:00 pm... Clean sheets are on the bed, towels are dry but still in the dryer... I kinda have an idea of what to talk about with group tomorrow -- I will show them how I organize my Christmas shopping list. I think I do really well with this, but maybe everyone does the same way. \0/
I also have a funny story from the Sunday paper about how one columnist prepares her Thanksgiving dinner. She has a regular speaking engagement at the beach the week before T-day, so as she drives home, she strategically makes stops at several different places along the route. The most famous pecan supplier in our state provides her pecan pie... she gets vegetables at another place... frozen smoked turkey at another... etc.
My list idea is based on something
Harriet said once, about using those little photo albums Wmart used to give with photo orders for index cards for various things & projects. I put 3x5s in there and I keep up with sizes of family members, gift ideas, and for the ones who get ornaments, I put what ornament I gave each year. I can tell you all 31 ornaments dnephew has ever received from me. Dneice gets her 30th this year. That way I don't repeat ornaments. I do NOT have all ds' ornaments on there, but I kept all his here on my own tree each year as he was growing up, so I generally remembered what I had for him. I do have all of dgrands' listed and the ones I've given ds and ddil since they got married. I haven't given them one EVERY year, but I do mark special occasions -- like this year, one from the Grand Ole Opry.
I also try to remember to put items in my phone in the NOTES section when someone mentions something they want. I'm not 100% consistent with that, and * ugh * I JUST remembered this, so all that shopping for dgs last night and I didn't even look to see if I had anything. He never asks for ANYTHING, however, so I'm pretty sure there's nothing in that section for him.
I'm going to call it a night, sort of, and do my bedtime routine. Looking forward to crisp, clean sheets.
