You'll have to fill in the rest of the name for today, I'm a little off today. Thoughts? Thankful? Thorough? Thriving? Thrilling?

Re: Thursday's Thread PWYC
Good morning, Twins! I like all the adjectives you listed
. I'll choose thorough, because there is a lot I hope to accomplish today.
Glad to have my energy back. Have been on the run so much this week, & last night I felt very tired. After a great sleep, I'm ready to tackle the To Do list I wrote out before bed last night. It includes clothes laundry (started), picking up footprints (started), dusting, vacuuming, mopping floors & cleaning bathrooms. There is some paperwork & several misc items also on the list. My goal is to get all these things done over the next two days so I can start decorating for Christmas over the weekend.
Planned ahead for dinner because I knew I wouldn't want to cook tonight. I thawed out the last of the beef stew & want to try something new -- baking a tube of crescent dough without unrolling the individual pieces. I saw it on a random U tube video & apparently it bakes into a mini loaf of bread.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Re: Thursday's Thread PWYC
Might change it to your idea of thorough, Dove, if my phone holds out, lol. I'm at dentist with HRH. And WiFi not available for tablet as I'd assumed.
But thread is a perfectly pleasant word, Twins', for me. I managed to hem the pants I'm wearing right before putting them on to come here, lol! So well prepared.

my word for today is Trying - I have to be okay with that I keep on trying and be proud of that!
d dove so happy to see you have your energy back! so happy you had a great sleep
cheering you on as you get ready to decorate for the holidays!
d twins - how is your dh? a little tired from yesterday? good luck on tonights dinner with the client.
praying your spirit gets lifted with good news.
d harriet - hope your dh has a good dentist appointment. That's odd that you can't get wifi in a dentists office. unusual.
yay on hemming the pants - yay on being well prepared
hello dear everyone. I hope you have a very good day.
It's snowing here so dd younger went to give mom her meds and get her breakfast - I ordered it for her but mom didn't eat breakfast yesterday.
dd didn't want me going on the ice bc of my ankles. I feel bad about it.
dd's both texted me and told me how bad the roads are - it looks like we are in for an all day snow - it is beautiful
cleaning angels will come here - dh suddenly decided that they should clean his room
it hasn't been touched in 6 months bc he did not want it. I will tell them that they don't have to do the kitchen.
dd younger was shocked that I haven't worked outside since she has been here with d mom. I missed gardening but life just kept getting busy. it's okay. I am super behind but I choose to look at it that I will have lots of fun in spring.

Re: Thursday's Thread PWYC
I have a massage at three p.m. and we're having dinner with that couple tonight. The food will be enjoyable, I'm sure I'll like them also. I do recall meeting the guy at one of dh's events at the ballpark, He owned a fabulous looking home, and got an offer to sell that he couldn't turn down, and then built a new home on the lot next door.
I walked two laps with dfriend M and R uby this morning. We talked yesterday afternoon (walked with M and her dh and R uby) and she rang the doorbell this morning and needed someone for accountability.
Dh also walked dMillie a lap this a.m. after his workout so she should be satisfied.
I saw an obit online this a.m. that was a paternal first cousin of one of my maternal first cousins. Sent him an email, not sure if he's close with that side of family, and there's almost twenty years difference in age. The deceased with 83, my cousin is same age as my brother would be, 65 I think. So here I go down a rabbit hole.
My mentee who submitted her portfolio in May did not pass. I emailed the person who coordinates the mentor/mentee assignments, and also asked her advice on my current mentee. I'm anxious for her. She's not that far along on writing the three generation report, and recently had a seizure, and had a fall in the spring, much like mine except she had a concussion, traumatic brain injury, and a broken wrist. And she'll have the surgery in early Dec to take out the plate, exactly what I will probably have done. And her partial portfolio is due on 31 December! I told her Tuesday that I would throw in the towel and if it were me. She will have several days to work because her family is going away for Thanksgiving and she will stay home, but she also does some client work!
I think I'm troubled today.

Oh, Twins'. These are troubling things, yes, especially for the lady who is facing medical hurdles. hugs to you. small smile. I bet you are a great mentor to genealogists and have been in other areas of life as well. Sometimes there is a sliding scale, or spectrum, in that the assistance we can give, whether starting at one point or another along that spectrum, may take one project right over the finish line into success, yet not quite give another enough oomph.
blessed, there is one to needlepoint on a pillow, at least for me:
We are home and only the worse for wear in that HRH has bitten his cheek. Hopefully, when he gets all the feeling back it won't turn out to be so bad after all. No matter what, this 3-appt process of getting a new crown is OVER, and since he only had one crown in the first place, he can say goodbye to that whole thing.
I was genuinely helpful as his driver and encourager today, reversing our recent roles. So, I feel virtuous.
That optimistic paternal heritage of mine is impishly fighting its way out from under. I can see my Daddy, notoriously grinning or winking when life didn't seem to warrant it.
SHEs, remember you are insufferably, adorably optimistic. Walk by a mirror and look in there with a conspiracy - that lady will get you into trouble, but she's a lot of fun.

Re: Thursday's Thread PWYC
I'm feeling better on the mentee front - current lady wants to submit by end of December but doesn't have to. Her hard due date is in August. I did a quick Zoom to talk to the the woman who matches people up, and she looked up the due date, and was also in the initial email to me. I got "wanting to" mixed up with "Have To." P am did make a few suggestions and had a few positives to offer, regarding the one who didn't pass. (Judging her portfolio too almost six months, so it certainly went to a fourth judge when the initial three didn't match up.)
And on the continuing saga of the Roomba...it's stuck. Somewhere. And I left it on Tuesday afternoon so it's probably dead now too. I need to look for it at some point.

Re: Thursday's Thread PWYC
DD13 stayed home from school again today. Her fever is reducing but she still feels yucky. This is the last day of school before a 10-day break so she is confident to not miss anything vital. Classes today will not be focused on learning new things. The day before a long break is mostly video watching, game playing, and a relaxing day at school.
I filled two pots this morning with the two turkey bones to make bone broth. They have been simmering for hours and smell amazing. Homemade bone broth may be my favorite thing to consume. I don't care for store bought bone broth because it is tasteless and bland (IMHO). Today I am trying something new to me. I dropped in several whole jalopena peppers into the broth. I didn't plan it but had just harvested several jalopena peppers from the garden. When I walked into the kitchen to put the peppers down I realized I also needed to stir the pots. The temptation was too much to resist. I put the jalopena peppers into the broth to simmer. This is my version of living life on the edge.
I turned the house a/c off this morning when it was 65F inside and switched the HVAC to heat. We haven't had our first freeze yet but the nights are getting cooler. Right now it is bright sunshine shining through the 20' of windows in this room which make it 85F inside the house. I will be switching back to a/c for a few hours this afternoon.

Re: Thursday's Thread PWYC
Hey, all!
Can't think of a good "th" here, so I'll call it the day before a Frosty Friday. The temperature has plummeted, and I've seen a few stray flakes of snow. DD said her friend, who lives further south (away from the lake), woke to snow on the ground. And we often get weather a day behind blessed, so I guess more snow is coming.
I hope your DD is feeling better soon, LadyM! The meds are helping mine, but she still looks like death warmed over.
I was disappointed in my intake appointment yesterday; the doctor said, basically, "three meals a day, no snacks," which is about as helpful as my mother saying, "just don't eat." If I could just flip a switch and change my eating habits overnight without help, I would have done it years ago, and I wouldn't be in this boat. I am hoping today's meeting with the nutritionist will mention things like a transition plan and psychological help. If not, this program may not be for me. If it's not, I may look into the program at the other hospital system, the one everybody's heard of. I'd been looking into the other first because all my doctors but my psychiatrist are in this system and because the famous hospital takes up several city blocks and is next to impossible to navigate. However, it may be worth it if the program offers actual help.
Twins, it is not your fault if your mentee has bitten off more than she can chew. Or, if all these medical problems are recent, it's just a case of bad luck. I'm glad the "deadline" is just her being overambitious and that she really has more time.
I have :45 till I have to leave for the appointment. I think I will throw in some wash. See you later, I hope!
