Re: Freaky Friday?
I went to Walmart. Everything is now put away and I've had lunch. I really don't want to go back to Walmart before Christmas. This morning there were no screaming children and lots of seniors. Very quiet. I even picked up dh's last gift. (Mach3 blades for his Gillette shaver thing.)

Re: Freaky Friday?
I sort of freaked out when I did the seasonal clothes swap out;
Some shirts did not fit other things were so old and ratty it was embarrassing.
So I've been revamping my wardrobe for home.
Got those new items in the wash now.
Good news I called on Rx was thinking on that in the nite.
Not out yet so that was great timing for me!
OMM / I forgot to look at slippers I need to get some.
I need to hem some most of those new items as I'm petite.
Got the next load in the washer yea!
Had lunch too.
Day 5 of fog 36* out side br-r baby it's cold outside.
Planner Talk
I would luv a thread on that! Saw the new ones are not out till next week for what I use.
I did get an updated one yea!
They have a new cover in a color I'd luv to have!
Like I "need" one but I DO use them.
I mostly put done l**t in it but helps for reviewing and doing up quarterly pages for reference like when did I last _________
do whatever it is.
Getting some new goals and info. in a note book for now.
Worked on my holiday planner stuff on the PC last nite.
Trying not to freak out green yarn has not shipped so might not get here in time for this Christmas so may be ahead for next year! LOL
Glad to see Blessed w 2 posting.

Re: Freaky Friday?
Blessedw2 we don't have a kitten. Her name is "Baby Cat" and we got her from a rescue more than 2 years ago. She is the youngest and smallest cat in our home. My dd calls all/most cats "Baby", so I called her Baby Cat because it reminds me of my dd. (When my dd sees a cat anywhere, she is immediately kneeling down and saying "Come here baby" and most cats immediately walk up to her. It's like she's the cat whisperer or something.)

Re: Freaky Friday?
(Kathryn and sister) Notes taped beside the confusing appliance can sometimes help. Oversimplified, large printing. My ddad struggled with our tv after moving to our house and found a little bit of help in a printed set of instructions I made him - not perfect.
"a comfortable chair" - (editing, Nancy, I see your post now, too) this is one of the reasons I may start a planner thread for the coming year. I've spent 2024 with sticker mascots at top of each week - cheerful animals or snowmen, pumpkins, scarecrows, etc. with whatever accompanying smaller ones worked. I'm thinking little stickers of comfort for 2025, surroundings, nooks, maybe vistas. Comfortable chairs or indoor surrounds would be high on my list because first half of year spent so much indoors and quiet. We'll see. HRH continues to threaten me (smile) with a new recliner, but given every opportunity yesterday did not take me up on a shopping trip because he didn't know when dstepson might come (I wondered why that was important).
Dstepson came yesterday after work and brought me 3 new knit hats: 2 with small brims, 1 with ear areas, all for men (smile) and plain, dark. Extremely thoughtful.
Going into The Decluttered Home thread, I noticed Nancy has used a colorful new symbol now available to us with our update.
Cathy, Kathryn, bittersweet, it is also quite Canadian, in addition to being seasonal.
So, I took it over to tips hints how-to forum and put it into symbols thread and FURTHER noticed that many of those have changed to colors, too. Nice.
LadyM, yes, I tried that type recipe during my recent (well, months ago now) homemade biscuit phase. They were good, yes. The heavy cream was just something I don't usually keep on hand, and with fridge space at minimum, I went back to traditional recipe. My biggest competition was, as always, the immovable fact that HRH actually likes refrigerator Pop-open cannister biscuits. Sigh.
Dove, by the way, thank you for letting us in on your experiment with Pop-open cannister croissant to make a loaf of bread instead. HRH found that interesting and gave me a thoughtful lecture on what bread pan he would use and how he would grease it but then never actually DID any of that. We still might try it. I guess I was resistant because of trying to eat less bread (at least sweetened breads) in general, but then for holidays it sounds smart.
Freaky Friday - lucylee, you have no idea.
Today for the first time in 60 years, my long hair will be cut off in some style far, far from a "trim". Dd44 has made me an appt with a rather busy, popular beautician at her shop in next town. Dd44 will take me and be moral support. We can do hard things, right?

Re: Freaky Friday?
((((Hugs))) to those who struggle to understand AND those who seek to help.she can't understand it.
I try to change our ways of doing things that confuse DH. Sometimes it is as simple as forwarding his voice messages to me.
It is a challenge to keep the expectations low and let go the things that he can no longer do, while still encouraging him to do everything that he can.
((((Harriet))) doing the hard things with a smile is extraordinary. You are a champion.
While we were in the city for the funeral, I took DD13 to WM and told her to put everything that she likes to eat into our shopping cart. I encouraged her go wild and to fill it up. I am seeking to enlarge the variety of food that she will eat. ANYway, that was a failed effort. We walked up/down/around all the aisles, and she selected 3 things. Frozen Dino chicken nuggets, a container of Bob Evans Mac & cheese, and pocky sticks. *sigh* I need to seek guidance from DD13 counselor about her reluctance to eat a variety of food. She rarely eats anything remotely healthy. Her weight has skyrocketed. I find it alarming for her weight to change that much but don't know how to address it or help her. I never ever mention her weight. I just know continually gaining 5-10lbs a month isn't good for physical or mental health.
Stay curious. Challenge assumptions. Success loves persistence.

Re: Freaky Friday?
I agree d lady - I too am trying to change things for dh and d mom. Sometimes it is easier for me to find what works with dh/dmom than trying to be logical in explanation - mom can't do notes anymore and dh doesn't read them.
Yesterday dh decided there are things he will do and not do. I have admit it shocked me when he left all the cardboard in the garage for garbage day
he also has been putting dishes in the sink and leaving them. he is happy and sits - does the computer and listen to WGN radio. He is limited to going to the grocery store for himself and getting gas for his car. He is kind spirited now and has been great about mom so I have nothing to complain about.
it's just been a surprise.
I mentioned about us moving to a smaller house with more land around for the dogs - he is not keen on that.
I can see I have to rethink a lot of things. I can see the home care and repair are now my new jobs.
d brother and I spoke - we are going to have mom stay at her apartment over night with a caretaker who will feed her breakfast and give her meds and then give her meds at night. I will take her during the day while I can.

Re: Freaky Friday?
Oh my goodness, Harriet. Thinking of you.
My hair is cut and styled and my body is loosened up and balanced. Massage therapist said he took some mileage off me, thankfully. Doc emailed back that okay to start oral Rogaine (see Health/Fitness from yesterday) but to track my BP. I'll probably wait until tomorrow to go to drugstore. The bank is in the other direction so would rather not do this afternoon.
I'm glad to see bw2 checking in and hope Mom is doing better and gets out.
Planner talk. Nope, not really. I have something of a system with the circa rings and Jr. size notebook. A weekly page with schedule and place to jot OMM stuff on the right, then the lined pages with daily heading date and day of the week, and notes for the day on left, then continued onto additional pages. Supper, to dos, OMM, notes from a meeting or phone call. Start the next day on same page or next. Add pages as needed. Bookmark to find the day. Tab for pen which stays with it. Monthly dividers. I move previous months out to "archive" and add divider and pages for next month. Art, stickers, washi tape, etc. always sound interesting to me but then I don't use them.
-----------------------------
How did I miss posting this earlier? Anyway I've been to the bank and napped. Ddog is outside enjoying the sunshine. Temp is only 39 though.
Bw2, we had a dear friend whose kitty of many years ago was Minou. She's left the US for Portugal.
Our dinner is lamb chops from freezer, roasted butternut squash, and something green. Dh volunteered to grill!
Thinking about this arts/crafts bazaar on Sunday, I probably should get some paper money change. I really don't want to go back out but I should. After that I will nap.Dd44 will take me and be moral support. We can do hard things, right?

Re: Freaky Friday?
The deed is done.
Brrrrr... .. Scarves will be needed.
All my life, beauticians have not been able to hear my voice, which may be one of the reasons I've kept my hair simply trim-able. Today was no exception. Asked for a similar length all over, got a man's cut, very clean neck, long on top. Oh, well.
Dd paid for that, so I paid when we went out for a Mexican meal afterward. Very nice spot to enjoy chatting.
I went in at her house, and dear middle grandson said, "It's not so bad."
Little one says, "Oh." and backs up.
WonderBoy saunters in with his shoulder-length hair and says, "Were you traumatized?" and smiles, giving me a hug.

Re: Freaky Friday?
our d cat is sick again - she does have cancer but has been hungry and loving - no pain- today nothing .
she looks sick. I will keep an eye on her and see what happens tomorrow.
I will have to make the decision bc everyone always says no and animals have suffered.. She has popped back up many a times before.
Right now it's a wait and see
d brother is visiting mom - I haven't gone today. I should but I will see. mom from this moment on can not be alone - she really has gone down hill very fast - she is walking around but her confusion and her abilities has changed immensely.
dd younger is overwhelmed by mom being sick. My mom will not be going back to Florida. I saw it when she came back but dd saw it earlier bc she lived with her. Now dd has to figure out about her life in Florida - She has amazing friends but living there is expensive.
I think she has a lot on her shoulders right now. I know she is really worried about mom.
we have spoken to the place she lives. We have to wait until they have someone to be there at night time, breakfast and meds at night. She will be here during the day unless I need more help. (it all depends on how mom is now that she has had this health scare).
time to do more laundry. I will see mom in the morning.
waving to all of you!!!
