Friday, Finding Our Festive Groove

Post by Harriet »

Everybody read blesseds beginning on Monday. I couldn’t steal copy because I am on tablet. Not very user friendly. So I went with finding festive. This year both Christmas and Hanukkah are 12 days away.

We are rocking PWYC around the clock. Lucylee just posted a little bit ago, so check that out.

Mystery, you are traveling but to answer, that was J and C November page 5 that I explained. Best travel wishes.

Hi! Thank you for the fantastic Friday start Harriet! I feel much more festive this year than I did last year. There is snow all around us (Buffalo Bills have cancelled their practice due to 2 feet of snow and we don't even have a flake here!)

I would love to get a lot done today, but we will see how it goes. Kitchen is the usual mess. At least I emptied the dishwasher last night.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

What will the day bring - how are you looking at your day - what do you wish for today?

I honestly don't know what today will bring but I am looking at what I can do and how I can grab the best through the day.

The day can be full of beautiful small moments of beauty and gratitude! I pray today you all have a day of joy in the work you do!

We are homemakers - we are human beings sharing our lives together - we are pretty amazing!
Glad to see Harriet starting us off this morning!

Dgs3.5 is here now so I won't be posting much this weekend. Glad I bought bread at Costco yesterday, he's on his third piece of toast already!

got a skiff of snow on the North side of my property ; however roads and South part of property are already melting yea!
Weather changes effect me was craving chocolate made up edible cookie dough and my bs reflects that I had some last nite.
I declined a Cmas invite at dd's bc of the timing to close to dark and with this weather
to drive so close to dark could be icing up dd understood perfectly. Glad I could give her gift to her yesterday when she was here.

Harriet - Thank you for the start today.

It certainly makes me feel festive to come here and read treasured SHE CI's.

I am in hour #3 of my day and have already managed to make the males of the household groan. I do consider that to be a special talent of mine. LOL. Most of the groaning came from DS16 because I wanted him to prep his bathroom before he left for work. I have declared today to be "Deep clean the bathroom floor day." That means everything not attached to the bathroom floors must be removed from those rooms.

Next up - cook breakfast

Good morning! I haven't hit the road yet. We probably won't leave till about 2; the lead driver for his school's Sophomore Service program is out, so he will be responsible for taking attendance, etc. as well as driving. (Students spend part of the day helping at various social service agencies once a week.) This is likely good news for DD; we will probably be able to take her to work, and we are planning to drop DC at their girlfriend's on our way out of town.

Thanks, Harriet, for bringing me into the loop. I'm glad things went well and hopeful that they will continue to do so!

It's already after 10, and there's a bunch of stuff I have to/would like to get done before we go. Festive stuff will have to wait until we get back. I am worried about finding a Christmas tree; the lot that has been set up near us the past couple of years is not this year, and I'm afraid things will be picked over elsewhere, or we will have a long trip home with the tree tied on the car.

The absolute have-to's are few:

Pack my suitcase and totebag
Get wash out of washer and into dryer
Take DD to grocery store for something to eat while we're gone; the cupboard is nearly bare
Make sure the tires are filled properly; they tend to lose air in this cold (would prefer to delegate this to DH)

The want to's include

Washing the bathroom rugs
Cleaning the bathroom
Washing the dishes
Cleaning up and putting away the card table in the living room
Getting set up to receive alerts from PennDOT

First up, get those bags packed!

Thank you for getting us started out on a Festive Groove today, Harriet! So glad to see you check in last night and today and hoping you feel well today. Think of your body fighting, fighting, fighting! Alternately, as relaxed and easy and letting the chemicals do their thing quietly as you take care of yourself?

I need to get dressed and walk the dog.

This has been sitting and I still haven't walked the dog. Brunch right now, dog is next. I've piddled about here. Some straightening up in closet, desk in MBR. We're going to the river tonight and getting restaurant takeout.

Nancy, we had such a heavy frost it almost looked like a bit of snow.

-----------------
Later, didn't get it posted earlier.

I asked dh last weekend to change the battery in the sink. We have a tap on tap off kitchen sink. It's very handy, and wowed the teens at Rosh Hashana, but otoh when the battery goes it goes. So today I have no water in the sink, unless I crawl under there and change it myself.

Hello again! Suitcase is packed; tote bag is partially packed. Wash is in dryer. I’m currently waiting in the car for DD, who is in the grocery store.

Kathryn, on NPR this morning, there was a piece where a guy was reminiscing about having buttered toast and chocolate milk at his grandmother’s.

We are having a light snowfall here, with big, fluffy flakes. DD says it makes her miss her roommates, because she remembers the first time her roommate from California saw this type of snow and said, “Oh! That’s why snow globes look like that!”

Home now and having lunch.

Afternoon y’all..

Went to class and then to my coffee gathering. Made a quick stop at the $ store and then came home. Once I finish my lunch will take my suitcases up to the attic and then get my decorations down. New tree, new look.

Am starting on my Cmas cards and everything else is done.

Lucylee… my fresh spiral ham is pre sliced and precooked so I’m sure everything will work out. After looking at my recipes, I decided I will make my NY Lindsey cheesecake. Found a way to shorten the time by using a different crust. That makes the process doable.

See y’all later….
