I napped, then made a trip to the drugstore. The doc re-wrote my script. The pharmacy tech said there was one in stock and she thought I would get it. Anyway, I'll go by tomorrow and check if I don't get a notification.

Dh has gone to Costco. I wouldn't go today on a bet.

The grocery order will be here soon too.

And in another thing done, I dropped off two Hanukkah books in the neighborhood Little Library.

Groceries were delivered and dog walked. I'll pick up script at CVS tomorrow. Temp has dropped today, perhaps light snow in NE TN but not here.

Supper is meat loaf, acorn squash and green salad. I'm making a list for tomorrow, when picking up meds and sending additional present to dd become important. Also guests coming at 6 p.m.

Grocery list finished except for going up and downstairs to check supplies of some non-food items. I put those in italics on the list and will cross them out if we have enough. DD thoroughly enjoyed her movie; I drove her to & picked her up from the faculty/staff Christmas party, which she also enjoyed. (Actually, I dropped her off near the party; it was two blocks from the local high school at dismissal time. )

I have a dilemma. I have 2-1/2 large bags of stuff to be given to the thrift shop in the sun room. Getting those out of the way would go a long way to letting me set up a wrapping area in there and moving the ever-growing pile of boxes into there. But I can't take the bags out to the car because DH will need all the space for groceries. I could put them on top of the daybed, except that's where DD goes to have her therapy appointments b/c the WiFi in her room is flaky, and she has an appointment tomorrow morning. I suppose it will have to wait until after the grocery run and the appointment. But the pile of boxes in the living room is growing very tall -- and I think I hear another delivery coming!

Fortunately, the delivery was not for us. I will check off those last few items and hopefully remember to start a load of wash while I am downstairs. Dinner tonight is tuna noodle.

Staying up with DS16 can be a full time job. I am so used to doing it that I can't imagine what life would be without raising teens. But I do realize that time passes quickly and it will be a memory before long.

DS16 took a friend to work with him today (with the approval of his boss). His boss is currently in vegas so DS16 and friend are working alone. DS16 facetimed me so he could show what they found when they got to work. The wind shield was busted in the skid steer. They suspect the window was shot out. They notified the boss son and he handled notifying police and insurance.

DS16 took girlfriend to eat after he got off work. Then he went to the city to purchase wheels and tires that he found in FB marketplace. I wouldn't allow DS16 to meet strangers by himself and DH isn't able to do it. DS16 and I have had several spirited conversations about this. The place DS16 was purchasing the wheels/tires was a personal residence in the city not too far from where DD48 lives. So I had DS16 ask his new stepdad to go with him to make the purchase. DSonInLaw is very savvy with recognizing shady situations so I was comfortable with him having DS16 back for this meeting and transaction with a stranger. ANYway, it all went better than okay. DS16 got 4 new wheels/tires for his 2nd pickup for $800. They list for triple that. All through this transaction DS16 was phoning me with updates.

DS16 and girlfriend are now back here changing tires on pickup in our driveway. DS16 was making a face because I was taking his picture.

I just approved DS16 driving the back roads to nearby tiny town to purchase 32 lug nuts and a headlight. We just found out one his headlights is not working. It never ends........

DS16 does consume a lot of my time and focus. I expect it to decrease as he becomes older and makes better driving decisions.

He and girlfriend came back home and swapped one wheel & tire on durmax pickup. He replaced the headlight that wasn't working on the chevy pickup.

Now they drove about 20 miles away to pick up his friend from grandparents home. His friend rode dirt bike there but can't ride it back home after dark. DS16 will load the dirt bike up in pickup and bring friend back here. The plan is for the 3 of them to then continue with swapping the other 3 wheels/tires in our driveway. If all goes well they will be done around 10pm.
Then DS16 will take girlfriend to her home.
Our home should be quiet and calm by 10:30pm
Just another normal day in the neighborhood.

I try not to post these types of things here. I do miss having friends who are going through the same experiences of raising kids. There aren't many 70 year olds raising teens.

ANYway.....sorry for being chatty today.
Sweet dreams.

End of day check in:

Morning -
[ ] DPC: Phone the clock repair guy about the clock in for repair
[Done! ] Take dd her Christmas present.
[Done! ] Stop in at dd's plaza for a few groceries and an item from the dollar store there.
[Done! ] pick up mail Not done processing it, double check all bills are paid (mail strike = no bills in the mail.)
[Done! ] Respond to yesterday's emails. There were a lot while I was out.

Afternoon
[Done! ] watch another Christmas movie
[Done! ] set up train under tree And took it down because there are three different levels of carpet underneath and it kept derailing. Worse, it kept derailing behind the tree!
[ ] wrap the few presents I have
[ ] prepare the cards with tips for the staff here
[ ] finish the Christmas Eve service (a few prayers need to be added, then insert the sermon, and format and print.)

Evening
[Done!] Watch a movie with dh Take dgd to the after-hours clinic

It appears to be the week for taking granddaughters to the doctor! Dd called at 5 asking if we could come so dgd would be more comfortable than in a taxi. Also quicker because there's no waiting for one to come after the appointment was over. Plus she could wait in my car rather than the waiting room which was more comfortable for her. It is an ear infection.

I'm wearing my second pair of new boots that arrived tonight. They seem much warmer and better quality than the other ones so I'll keep them but the others fit better around my fat calves. These fit but it is a tough pull to get the zipper up.

I'm going to tidy up and then get ready for bed. Dh is off to bed now because he's meeting ds for breakfast tomorrow.

At this rate of needing the car to make these small trips, the car will have a hard time recharging enough before we go to Christmas Eve service (a long drive away.) It was 48% when I went out this morning, then 35% when I went out tonight and is 15%. By tomorrow morning it will be back to up 25% and down to 20% by the time dh gets back. I'll need it up to 70% by lunch on Monday because that's a good distance away (by EV standards, not by LadyM standards!) I'll be returning it around 30% power and I don't know if we can get up to 90% by Tuesday night. If not, I'll have to take it to a fast charger after my lunch with my friend. This is the first time we've run into such issues and all because dh forgot to plug the car in on Tuesday after we got home. Yesterday was the first time we had to wait for a charging stall to become available. Our city has 8 fast tesla chargers and it was nerve wracking to sit there with just 3% left wondering how long it would take before someone would leave so we could charge. People who own their own homes can put in a must faster charger than we have (8x as fast) so don't have this problem. But given over 1/3 of households are in rentals and even more live in condo buildings without charging, it will be a real barrier to people owning an EV, especially in a cold climate where range is cut by 1/3 in winter.

LadyM, I love hearing about both your dchildren! Partly bc my dgrands are coming along slightly behind them, so you’re giving me some warning signs, what to expect, and partly because they are just so interesting! Your ds, for the most part, is unbelievably mature and responsible and my goodness, I wish I had his energy and work ethic!
And I am so glad his step-dad could help out today. I don’t blame you for being cautious! Just last night, at the tour of homes, my cousin was telling us about a dresser they bought on Marketplace, and she said she really believed the sellers were big-time drug dealers! Of course, her husband was with her at the time.

I have had dgrands with me all day — one and then the other — and I am tired, but they have both been really good.
Dgs and I both feel a little under the weather — coughing a lot, and some signs of fever (freezing! — him… headache, body aches— me.) I’ve mostly been stuck to the couch all day.
Brother in law’s gf called to tell me they wanted me to ride with them Sunday night to SS party. I told her I really appreciate the invite but I don’t plan to go. It just seems too soon, too awkward to go to a party where everyone is in a couple except me. She totally understood.
I told her if I’m still coughing like this, I may not go to church Sunday at all.

Kathryn, I hope your gd feels better soon!

I know an EV would never work for me! I don’t think we even have charging stations within 30 miles of my home. Of course, I could have a home charger, but I’d be scared to death every time I got out on the road!

I’m getting a phone call — says the name, but I can’t place who this person is, and it is 11:17 pm! I let it go to voicemail. Maybe it is a wrong number!
Tomorrow is another day.
