Three days to Christmas PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

I'm hoping many of us have done enough that we're able to start the coast to Christmas and have some downtime. If not, you have today, tomorrow, and Tuesday, and we're here to support you!

I'm regrouping today from the efforts of yesterday. We had a lovely little dinner of course. Friends, chili, desserts. Wishing other neighbors could have been here but respect them for not exposing us to possible illness. Dh emptied the dishwasher this a.m. and put a lot of things away. I need to focus on the kitchen island where a lot of hand washable dishes are lined up to the left of the sink. I've cleaned the area to the right - wiped out the second sink and have room to put drying things there. Next is the outside, where my computer sits, and the area where appetizers were. Just need to wipe it all down, then the main event - washing dishes. There's the chili put, glassware, a crockery bowl and the silicone muffin pans that didn't release the muffins.

A nap might be in order, and I need to do some laundry too. Might try to stamp a little, not seasonal, but need some birthday cards. Also, I'm still tinkering with Dropbox on my computer. Some files in Dropbox won't open on this computer, but will open upstairs. Started with uninstalling and trying again because it seems weird. Although I'm supposed to see Dropbox as an option when I save in Excel and word it isn't working that way.

dd older is going to pick up mom for me. yay -

I also made a decision that there will not be any christmas stockings or Christmas Eve pjs for all of us.
I finally wrote the family and said that this year is just to enjoy each other. I haven't finished dd younger - I do equal everything but this year well it's okay! I told her.

How I am looking at it: Grandma is here, dad is here, I and dd's (our animals of course) are here and that's a blessing. We have a home, food, family. I think of mom, her family , my grandparents during the war and the one thing they had was family. it's all good!

this year we are not making cookies - it's okay
this year we may not see Christmas lights - it's okay

I will say that next year that all gift ideas need to be in on November 10th or they will have to see what I buy them :D

we also talked about when dd's go to Florida at new years - we have decided it will be easier to have mom here so I don't have to go back and forth and feed the ladies as well. Mom will be here for 2 weeks.

Dh is bored so I'm going to humor him and go out for a drive. He's gone to the grocery right now for the three things we need. It's a little unfair since I felt I worked a lot yesterday, but he'll go bowling tonight and to work tomorrow. Part of me feels like, with entertaining last night, I've passed the worst of the holiday tasks. Maybe we should have a late brunch out somewhere this afternoon too.

cancelled mom's caregivers (that she really doesn't need anymore - for now) for Dec 27 to January 10th as mom will be here with dh and I - she will have them tonight, tomorrow night, brother will have her the 24th, us the 25th, brother the 26th I think but kept them. until I hear further.

time to thank the day - a little late 8-) :D

I am continuing to enjoy my relaxing slower paced days of Christmas break.
I'm supposed to see Dropbox as an option when I save in Excel and word it isn't working that way.
BTDT. I have a love/hate relationship with the way MSoft products try to force the use of their cloud (OneDrive). I might have a bit of a rebel attitude over this. If Onedrive was 100% reliable then I might not mind, but my experience has been it is unreliable and I have lost data multiple times. Now I manually override MSoft to ODrive and browse to save to a cloud (Dropbox) that has never failed me. FirstWorldProblems

I have started creating my 2025 spreadsheets. I take my time doing this so I can consider what I like about the layout of 2024 spreadsheets and what I want to improve. Collecting data for no reason is not something I am interested in doing. If I am going to use my time to capture the data, then I want good feedback that is useful. IMHO data must have a purpose or I don't want to spend my time/effort to capture it.

Dgs and I are both feeling kinda poorly, to quote Prissy in GWTW.
We’ve been coughing and aching since the night of the tour of homes. Makes me wonder if I should just cancel the ultrasound tomorrow on the basis of having the flu?
OTOH, I am really tempted to just cancel the whole thing. I cannot believe there is anything wrong except that I started taking the higher dose of progesterone. If I were still with former doctor, I’d still be on the low-dose and none of this would have happened.
I let her raise the dosage and now suddenly I need an ultrasound ASAP and she’s preparing me for the possibility of a biopsy???
I don’t want to die early bc I refused any of these treatments, but -;/(:$&&)@“$& this is very upsetting.

We stayed home from church and I foresee a quiet day on the couch and recliner for dgs and me.
Tomorrow is another day.
