Do you have anything that you do specifically on the last day of the year?
Do you sweep the year out with the old broom and buy a new one for the new year?
Do you have a bath or shower to cleanse the year's problems away?
Is there a food that you traditionally eat? I know that there are foods that some eat on New Year's Day.
What are you up to today?

Re: Tuesday Traditions for New Yew Year's Eve!
Hi!
Thankfully we don't stay up until midnight at our house. If we did, I will need a nap. I do like to clean the house on the last day of the year. Just my own thing since moving here. Ex's family had a tradition of making sure my ex was always the "first foot" through there door on the first day of the year.
I cleaned out under the sink in the bathroom yesterday. I had the same liner stuff under everything since 2015!
It was way past needing to be done. For someone who is so low maintenance, why do I have 6 curling irons/straighteners/hair dryers? I am having a hard time letting even one go now that I have shorter hair.
Today is the day that I want to get some stuff we never use into a box and into the car so I can take it and donate it sometime in the next week. I also have a pile of stuff for garbage. I need to start a new bag. Dh has 2 pairs of really nasty running shoes that need to go, which will leave him with 2 pairs.
LucyLee I am so happy that you have a biopsy appointment. In Canada having to wait 2 weeks for an appointment would have a lot of people thinking "Wow, I can't believe my appointment is only 2 weeks away." Dh has an echo scheduled for April, and they called to tell us in either October or November.

Re: Tuesday Traditions for New Yew Year's Eve!
I can't think of any specific traditions we have. Used to we always went to a New Years Eve party at friends - they included adults, children, our kids were in that age range. They ended that several years ago and since, we've enjoyed being home or doing something quieter. I am so glad we're not doing anything tonight!
We had dinner out with ds last night - home by 6:45 and dh asleep in front of the TV. Thank goodness for quiet evenings!
Today I have body work at 10 and the therapist at 2. Dh and I will have a nice supper together and a quiet evening.
I should order groceries today too, and think about some meals for the rest of the week!

Re: Tuesday Traditions for New Yew Year's Eve!
Good morning, Cathy, Mystery, Twins', and all the village.
Traditions - well, we have greens on New Year's Day, and, for me, some kind of Crowder (meaning they were crowded in the pod) peas is tops. Right now, I have both awaiting tomorrow to be cooked down in the a.m. Kale, Collards both here and tomorrow is the day the broccoli sprouts mature, so I'll poach some ahead of photosynthesis and sprinkle some of the first of those new ones on my meal, too. Today are the last of current batch, so they go into the smoothie today, I think.
Change of items - yes, planning toothbrushes, one hand soap bar that still claims to be a sliver, also a new kitchen dish strainer this year as this one's acting up (already by the sink), assorted little items like that around the house. Filter for Tobias' water "fountain". I will toss currant dishrag (but I have a pack of same, lol) and bring out a new dish towel - something that looks Januaryish, maybe. Hoping to change a quilt on the wall.
Today I start my new round of menu/diet for treatment. It's "everybody, get your heads down" day for protecting my cells (smile). About 1,000 calories today and all of it with an eye to healthy. Tomorrow and next 2 days, 800 strict, then one day of 1,000 and releasing myself to build back up as much as I can while appetite is on my side.
Today I believe I can have my last day au natural, without even a cloth or scarf. I have fussed with hair gently until it could pass for a pixie, and provide the tiniest bit of warmth. Just won't touch it again.
I wore the cheap, shorter wig yesterday for my walk to get used to the idea, with a thin scarf over and around my neck in case I actually SAW anybody who would have a QUESTION (gasp). Took scarf off for ds and children to see, along with dstepdil who was walking her little dog after vet hospital stay. I stayed a while at dd44's house like that, actually, until the little one's sports event travel. Everyone said they could get used to the wig - boys were ho-hum. I then kept it on all evening with HRH so I'd grow used to how it feels. I'll find a balance.
Trash-out-the-door day. Mud room spif.
Crafting and sewing!

Re: Tuesday Traditions for New Yew Year's Eve!
My big thing to start the New years is maybe I’ll get a shower and clean sheets if Sweetie will help me
Change our bed.
All the urgent cares and drs offices are filled with people that have the flu. News is saying the cases are 3x more than last year. I don’t have the flu, no chills or temps and no Covid, just a good old fashion head cold which I haven’t had in years.
If I can find the energy I may get to wash my hair… it’s been over a week…but considering how I feel it may not happen. Oh well at this point what’s one more day.

Re: Tuesday Traditions for New Yew Year's Eve!
I forgot my ibuprofen before bed so woke up a few times in pain and finally at 4:30 enough to go get some. Slept better until just before my alarm. Dh was still really tired so I made my way to the living room to do my stretching, then had tea and chocolate and light therapy. At 8 I threw on yesterday's clothes, washed my face and brushed my teeth and ran my errand across the street. I'll go get into the shower now.
No NYE traditions except to spend it with dd's godfamily which won't happen this year. Sigh....
Dgs3.5 comes after his nap this afternoon. Before then:
[ ] inflate his mattress fully and tidy his room
[ ] do year-end payroll
[ ] pay bills
[ ] make up grocery list (not much aside from cream soup)
[ ] blood work (if it works out, it can wait until Thursday)
[ ] go to bank, deposit cheques
[ ] go to grocery store
[ ] tidy a bit more
[ ] wash kitchen floor
I'm sure there's more that I can't remember right now. Dh says I can put off the charitable donations until the New Year due to the strike, the government is allowing that.

Re: Tuesday Traditions for New Yew Year's Eve!
Y'all I can not believe that I've already seen Valentine's Day stuff! UGH!
Tossed out 2 nasty pairs of dh's running shoes. Hopefully the pair that is a bit dirty right now will last longer, seeing as he doesn't do much work any more. BTW, he's so happy that he won't have to pay for a fishing license any more since he will be 65 this year. He also starts getting his old age pension in June. He also reminded me that I won't have to pay for my fishing license next year. Thanks honey!!
I have 6 drawers in the bathroom. I cleaned out the drawer that has cat toys and brushes in it. Found some stuff to toss and an unwrapped toy to donate. Five more to go, but I will ask dh to do his 2 drawers.
We have decided on soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for supper.

Re: Tuesday Traditions for New Yew Year's Eve!
I am up dressed trash is at the curb
donation bag at the fence neighbors house 2 doors down found spa massage items that are a challenge for one person
but a delight for two so I put that in a flannel bag with draw string I had two alike for them to enjoy.
Had coffee we used to do the clam chowder thing.
I have relations in the south that make that soup with beans & ham hock.
Me nope.
I did a review of the season / recap or what ever that is called in my Dec. journal this morning.
I have on my Cmas ugly sweater as I have not worn it yet.
Found more items to put away holiday themed mini gift bags I was going to put $ in and forgot the bags but they
gladly accepted bank envelopes or cash from my hand so glad I went to the bank ahead of the gathering!
I will be leaving tree & lites up till the 7th this year as I am still enjoying them.
Foods I like dev. eggs & shrimp are in the house.
A quite nite at home.
Remember to take doggo out between 2-3 bc of the fire works.
Taking down a few things as I find them on my daily basement walk about has been a winner.
I might do a put away time tonite and watch the ball drop in earlier time zones.
Set up 2025 planner is OMM.
