RR, good suggestion for LM's ds. I bet he's been to those restaurants before, but he wasn't the one paying so he didn't realize the cost.

I spent some time around the stamp desk. So much that needs to go, I'll call it "vintage" Stamping up but I have oh so much. Need to cut back on purchases and use what I have too. I'm doing some drawer clean up - I still have some genealogy files there but most can be discarded. I used to paper copies of things, now it's all in the cloud. And census records - I can go look them up in a heartbeat if I need them. (It's always worth another look TBH, sometimes you see things, neighbors, occupations, that you didn't notice when one was a baby genealogist.

I took a break to come down for a late "brunch." When I drink my two 12 oz coffees in the a.m. with 2% milk it fills me up. Perhaps should cut back for more nutritious foods?

RR, yes, a good day to take it easy. How are you healing up?
There is another tiny part of me that acknowledges raising 2 teenagers and monitoring an adult with diminishing mental capability doesn't really qualify as taking it easy.
Yes to this, LM. You always have what's going on in the background on your mind, so take breaks for yourself. Must keep yourself rested and ready!

Nancy, the handwarmers sound nice. I often use the "Hot hands" product when I walk the ddog.

Going to finish a.m. routine... especially need to walk the dog to get my steps up, and clear kitchen counter and s2s.

I decided to push off my beef and barley slow cooker soup until tomorrow. We have leftovers in the refrigerator - steak, chicken, a little bit of my eggplant from Monday. Dh ate most the steak for his lunch, however. We do have plenty of sandwich things tho. I'm taking the day off cooking.

Oy to the financial decisions, LM. Both of our kids are thrifty - sometimes too much so with dd.

I agree with d twins! Enjoy your christmas break d lady!

hello everyone.
both dh and mom are asleep.

Mom was walking the halls this morning worried about the dogs going out - I let them out but she had it circling in her head afterward.
She is tired, keeps talking, singing "summertime" and then falling asleep sitting down. .

I had New years, Holy Name services, on and she loved it. She doesn't go to church any more- as a child she went twice a week - one for vespers and one regular mass both on the same day in France - she has gone with me to the Lutheran Church and she liked it but getting her dressed early to go to any service is difficult. In her twilight sleep I heard her responses to songs and priest. very sweet.

I feel selfish not responding to everyone but I am moving super duper slow - Just so you know I am thinking of you all!!! Hope you have a great day!

I wish you all - all that you dream of, good health, good family and friends, peace in your soul, and hope for the new year!

Today I have learned more on my new pink hand warmers.
how to charge em up
how to turn em on
had to look on yt to get a review and learn how to turn em off hold long press for that.
learned they have magnets and can stick together.
[Got out magnifying glass to read tiny print instructions but that did not say how to turn em off that I could find.]

I already feel smarter this year! LOL!

Got some more snow then sleet that turned to rain snow is going going gone!

I did laundry 🧺 cx.
Tired trying to stay up till time for my nite Rx.

had to bring dogs inside again bc they keep barking.

mom is still laying down on the couch - she says she feels so lazy - she is probably tired from walking at night last night. she is not asleep but every so often she does fall asleep.
dh is still resting his eyes

sometimes I feel lonely with the limited conversations of both dh and d mom. They are very kind but they both talk about the past at times - dh it's the negative parts of work time and sometimes things he loved to watch or cars he loved. d mom repeats a lot of things or talks about the things she had seen or her family - but in a very positive way most of the time.

dh is up!
I wonder if I should talk mom in getting p.

more work done in laundry room
recycling out
laundry room work

hello d Nancy I think your hand warmers sound wonderful! you are smart already! I hope you figure out the bill.

hi d twins I am glad you had some time just for you and your stamping! I wish my youngest was thrifty - she is me with horrible ADHD and not noticing what I spend but worse. Healing sounds like a very good word!

d lady I admire you as a person - a wife and a mother. your wisdom and your parenting is something I truly inspires me to be a better person!!!

hi d rose! happy new years

that's as far as I can go back but hello everyone of you.

My focus was so bad today that I made up little squares with jobs/rooms on them and folded them up. dh picked one for me and that is the laundry room. the floor is filthy. lol last night both dogs stopped in their tracks as they were going to go outside - it looked like a little fluffy creature - I thought it was a field mouse with winter fur- it was dryer lint!!! Both the dogs and I were relieved!

I am still thinking that I will get mom up when I make dinner so that she sleeps tonight (fingers crossed :D ) I want to look at seeds as well. I need to figure out my routine while mom is here. I would like to do a class at the park district to help my ankles and stability for the future - mom has to come with. Wish me luck. I will go tomorrow to sign up for next week.

The only extra spice I put on these black-eyed peas was smoked paprika. Made them smell good, but didn't add much taste. The salt substitute was what did that. I decided on salt substitute because I don't want the sodium competing with the potassium right now. The greens were very tasty just because I'd sprinkled on balsamic vinegar.

We already had a cake of cornbread because I made it last evening.

Ds had given me a specialty cast iron pan with an assortment of little chlckens and roosters images/forms in it for Christmas. I tried that last evening with the cornbread, too, and HRH just loved them so not a one is leftover today!

Dstepson came by and visited, taking the truck to go clean the connectors and decide whether he thinks we need a new battery. He and HRH went 'round the house measuring for some projects. It's lovely weather today, just cold.

blessed, we enjoy conversation with you about current things, lol! Good idea about a stability-for-the-future class. Do you still get seed catalogs or are you talking about looking online?

Tomorrow is treatment day for me, second one. The day will be very cold, especially at 7 when we must leave. Then Friday afternoon is my injection to keep blood cells happier. At least we can do the injection close to home this time.

d harriet - greens with balsamic vinegar sounds absolutely delicious! I never would have thought about it. sounds wonderful.
I don't cook with smoked paprika but dd older does - she as all these spices in her one dish (spicy spices Me when I eat her spicy food  8-) )
what a lovely gift your ds gave you! glad your d stepson stopped by - wonderful
praying for a good treatment day and that your blood cells stay very happy!

yes I still get seed catalogs - I have my left overs from last spring that I peruse through at ordering time. dh and girls got me a seed starting light for me.

dh is worrying me in the sense he doesn't seem happy underneath. he is very bored and went out for a drive again for 15 minutes - he is back again.

Good evening! I’ve spent a good chunk of the day dozing off (between the late night, the earlier-than-I’d-like morning (holy day of obligation — 10 am Mass), and huddling under an afghan to escape the chill, it’s been hard not to doze).

I need to talk to the kids together about driving lessons. I just realized the other day that if DD wanted to, she could have been driving for 9 years by now. I absolutely must put my foot down about this; not being able to drive greatly limits their employment opportunities. Of course, then we’ll have to find another car or two. DlateFIL’s is in our garage but has been sitting so long that I’d want it towed to a garage to have its fluids flushed and filled before trying to start it. DH believes that it needs a new battery, and that’s about it.

But DD has been online with friends all day. I’m not sure which group — some of what I’ve overheard sounds like her local friends, but some sounds like her former roommates. I hope it’s the latter — they’re very dear to her, and they’re scattered across time zones, so this is a good day for them to get together.

DH is making turkey tetrazzini for dinner. That will use up the last of our Christmas turkey.

I hope your treatment and injection go well, Harriet.

How brilliant, Nancy, to find the info on your hand warmers on YT. Much easier than trying to read the fine print (which only seems to keep getting tinier)!

Twins, is your DH retiring this year?

Bestest of New Years to all of you! May we all have a happy, healthy year!
