Thursday of a New Year PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

Today is the first "normal" day of 2025 - no parade, no football games going day long, no sense that things are shut down as a holiday. How are you spending it? Are you putting some of those plans, wishes, goals into play today or going about the usual? Most of us hardly know what day of the week it is - holidays in the middle of the week do that, you know, so use today and this weird short week to get moving on your plans going forward.

Yes, I know Sugar Bowl is on for late this afternoon with GA playing. Sad events in NO caused the postponment to late this afternoon.

Hi! Thanks for the great start Twins' Mom!

I was serenaded awake by the youngest cat who was eager to get outside.

I would like to undecorate the house today and tomorrow, but first I need to do some out-of-the-house errands. I feel like I've been in the house for just a bit too long. It's very windy here today and it's cold. Dh has a customer's car here that he couldn't figure out last week. The customer insists that there is something. Dh couldn't find anything, but the car is back.

I have started one of the calendars with the daily menus. So far there is the usual cold weather meals listed at the bottom of January's page and what we had last night and what we will have tonight. I took a glance at last January. Not much difference in the list at the bottom of the page.

Supper tonight will be leftover spaghetti w/meat sauce.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

So far, I've spent it surfing the net.

On my to-do list is cleaning. Then buying a present for dgd. And delivering the tree storage bag to the 'winner' from the Buy Nothing Group since I'll be out to pick up milk since it is Senior's Day so we get 20% off.

I'm sick of holiday decorations and holidays, personally! Today I can start dismantling Hanukkah - had to wait until the last night was done, you know. It's odd to have Hanukkah falling so far after Christmas and even into January for the last night. I've already unplugged the menorah in the back window and let holiday cards and my birthday cards go. Leaving a few that are specifically dh birthday cards, the counter looks better already.

Getting a late start - slept in until 8:30ish. Dh resumed workouts this a.m. but says that trainers at the gym he's going to now are up in arms about some changes. He agrees with me that the trainer I'm using going forward is kind of on autopilot but I've said I'll be with him going forward, at least as he gets started up.

There is nothing I must do today outside the house. Tomorrow I will run errands.

Christmas break mode = going to the garden to watch the beautiful changing sky at sunrise. Starting a fire in firepit and enjoy observing the flames. Not caring about what time it is.

Breakfast cooked/served/cleaned up.
Single ingredients - eggs, potato, bell peppers.
Processed food - hot link, sausage, cheese

I just realized we didn't get cash for the new month. This is a monthly task that we normally do at the end of the month. Reviewing cash on hand and deciding what additional denominations and how many will need to happen. A trip to the bank will be a priority to accomplish today.

DH has 3 more prescriptions waiting for us at the pharmacy. I used to have all DH prescriptions synched, so we only needed to go to pharmacy once every 90 days. Over time the prescriptions refills dates don't match. I need to let the pharmist know so he can adjust the refill dates to all be at the same time again.

I spent some time with teens to make shopping list. They gave their preferences and requests for foods and drinks to keep on hand. These teens mostly request processed food. I feel like a failure in teaching them to eat healthy but have no clue how to change it. When they were small, they ate whatever I put in front of them and seemed to like it. Now they have opinions and are independent in their food choices. ANYway, the trip to pharmacy will also include a cart full of items from sams.

BookSaver!!! Hey, girl! How in the world are you? Yes, we've had changes. My dd26 has married, for instance do let us know what's going on with you and happy new year.

I'm sitting here at appt following blood work and seeing Dr. Blood work signals that all this is working. Nurse has given a best guess that I could be out of here in early afternoon. Breakfast is good. Brunch? HRH has microwaved a few things for me.

how cute about the cat d cathy!
enjoy your errand day and your put away from the holidays

d twins thanks for the great start! ahhh normal - doesn't that sound nice! I am thrilled that the holidays are officially over - They were lovely but I am happy that we enjoyed them and now we can enjoy the normal

mom was up before sunrise and said she was confused of where she was at and where to go - she wasn't frightened but she felt safe enough to tell me. it is a huge break through for mom for the moment. I settled her in again and she is resting. she said she doesn't want anything to happen to me. She is eating breakfast now and I have a blanket on her bc the house is cold.
----------------
this morning dh took ALL the garbage from the garage and bringing it through the house bc he doesn't want the garage door opened - it's 23 degrees and it will make his garage cold ;) He had a bit of a hissy bc the mice people were wanting to come into the house. He didn't want the garage opened for that - he wouldn't let the man do that. He was so upset that he didn't want me to let the man in.
I heard the garage door open and he said it was for the recycling but that he closed the door right away. So he feels it wasn't enough cold to let in. It's almost 32 degrees in the garage.
---------------------------------------

do the kitchen
figure out dinner - leftovers and ?
I have to go to the cleaners
play with the dogs
stop for fish maybe?
b & nobles

wishing you all a wonderful day!
it is always a joy to be here with you!

What a joy to have Bookie drop in to celebrate the new year with us! Come back soon, now, ya hear?

Setting a timer to go 45 min in hopes of staying on task enough to finish a.m. routine. Distracted by getting Hanukkah things up but need to focus, focus, just 45 minutes.

I washed mom's hair - got her cloths together to choose from and as she was getting dressed she gave me her pants/underthings back and said they were "too cold" - put them in the dryer - I don't think I have ever been asked to do that except when I would get warm blankets out of the dry for kiddos when they were young kids/teens as a surprise. :D Now she has cozy warm cloths - I can her in the bathrooms saying - "so Nice and warm!" - The little things makes me smile.

cheering you on d twins as you work your timer!

Saw this today: They say when you snooze you loose - I say when you take a nappy you are happy.
