Re: First Monday of the year PWYC
Decided to have a nap. It lasted more than 2 hours!
When I woke up dh asked for grilled cheese with ham for supper. I said yes. After we ate he said, "Oh, you wanted to make sausages for tonight, didn't you." I told him we could have them tomorrow night.

Re: First Monday of the year PWYC
Okay. My mind is much calmer now that a few things are finished.
** Chili is done - no recipe I just start adding things....ground beef, sausage, bacon, onion, pepper, garlic, dry spices (a half dozen or so)
** cornbread is done.
** DD13 new phone is set up including successfully moving sim card from broken phone to new one. This is the step that sometimes requires me to make a 50 mile drive to irl phone store. Not today! I taught DD13 how to eject & install the card and she was successful.
** DS16 homeschool assignments are done....except for one that he missed. I just got off phone with him discussing this. He is with girlfriend now but will have assignment done within 30 minutes of taking her home.....or have consequences.
** Also cooked 4lb of chicken tenders in BBQ/butter sauce. These will pair well with side of potato salad or green salad.

Re: First Monday of the year PWYC
I am tremendously tired. did a lot of cleaning out and tossing away. more just cleaning and organizing - I really need to go through my cookbooks again. I need to make dinner - empty the dw -
I have junk Roi coming for the old couch and the heating company again tomorrow. The furnace we just bought isn't working right.
spoke to dd older and she extended her vacation until Wednesday night. She loved every moment in Florida -
what is interesting is that my mom's mural paintings (on the walls in the exercise room) survived the second flooding after another hurricane. other walls did not make it.
waving to all of you!!!

Re: First Monday of the year PWYC
I open a cabinet door next to the stove where spices are kept and just start grabbing most used spices and shaking some in. Let it simmer and adjust. Spices I remember adding... Chili powder, paprika, cumin, turmeric, mustard, red pepper flakes, brown gravy mix, cayenne, cinnamon, dash original and brown sugar. Weird mixture maybe but not a lot of any in particular. Somehow, they all blend well. No beans this time. Sometimes I do add them.
DS16 has been making plans how he is going to adjust to have 2-3 weeks without a paycheck. His boss and wife are leaving today on a trip outside USA for a couple weeks. DS16 said his boss just called from airport to say "Hey! I forgot to tell you that I left 2 signed blank checks made out to you in the barn workbench. Keep your hours worked and pay yourself the next two Fridays."
Not only is boss leaving DS16 the keys to everything but blank checks too. DS16 feels honored to be trusted that much.

i forgot to list rotel. Always rotel in chili. I tend to use rotel almost every day in something I cook.
Rotel = diced tomatoes & green chilis.

Re: First Monday of the year PWYC
Home safe. (Hours ago.)
Too tired to be talkative and late to bed.
I need to do a Costco run tomorrow because I have decided to buy a new mid-range cell-phone (mine's 3.6 year's old) and the website has it for $10 more than motorola but it also says may be sold for less in the store. So I will go look. I need eggs, french bread, and yogurt as well.
Tomorrow I definitely need to clean out the freezers. I have no idea what is in them but I know the bacon is over 6 months old. Tonight I found one serving of tourtiere meatloaf and one serving of french bread which dh had. I had frozen french fries.

Re: First Monday of the year PWYC
What did I do with my first normal day of a normal week, Twins? Mostly slept.
Dgrands had me up fairly early, and I took them to eat breakfast, then took them home, then s2s and took dmom to get her x-ray in advance of pulmonologist appt next Monday.
I also stopped by the auto repair shop to see if he could take care of my brakes today -- he asked that I come back tomorrow, so DS will take me out there. Brakes are making a terrible grinding sound, so I'm sure this will be an additional expense for this week.
After I got dmom back home, I went to Wmart and got groceries, AND stopped to fill up the car, and let me tell y'all, it was COLD out there today. And windy.
I finally got home and my house felt sooo warm. I turned on the Christmas tree again, and lay on the couch all afternoon and evening.
I didn't even put away all the groceries, just the things that had to be in the refrigerator or freezer.
Are you expecting snow this weekend, Twins?
We actually had some snow flurries this morning, nothing on the roads, but enough to excite dgrands. They go back to school tomorrow, and we have another forecast for wintry mix here Friday and Saturday. I hope if we get it, it will be enough to cancel dgd's ballgames. Do y'all know they play at another school in the county on Saturday morning, and they have posted on FB that there is NO HEAT in that gym??? How ridiculous is that??? Apparently it has been an ongoing problem and all they are doing about it is telling spectators to wear their heavy coats.
DDIL also has concerns about roads now that she is working 30 minutes away, much of her drive on less-traveled roads. Today was her first "official" day.
Good to see Bookie and Dove... and Mystery... and Kathryn... (DDIL just got a new M*torola phone also! It's the flip phone type, that the screen can be twice as big, but you can fold it into a small square. First time she has not had an A*pple phone, but she thinks she is going to like it.
Interesting about your escape-dog, LadyM. Oh -- and BTW -- your DS has been showing signs of becoming a fine young man for a long time!
That really speaks volumes, that his boss would leave him with blank checks to pay himself.
(((Rose))) I admire your work, despite your lack of energy. I will have to get myself busy tomorrow. I hate to take down the Christmas stuff... like my mom, I am enjoying the lights on the tree. DGD and I slept in the den last night, and I may again tonight. But I also hate to take it down because it's a tiresome chore.
Maybe if I look at in small bits... take off ornaments first... then if I want another night with lights, that will be okay.
I may leave snowmen and snow village out, maybe at least till Ash Wednesday?
I just can't get excited about ANYTHING right now. I don't think I can move forward until I hear that all is normal with this biopsy and no more treatment is required, (except possible medication). It just has me in total limbo and I'm more depressed than I have been at any point since dh's death. And I have a little bit of anger going on too... WHY did he have to leave me to deal with all this on my own??? I know that is a ridiculous, that he would have given ANYTHING in the world to stay with me... but still... I know anger is a common experience with griefl.
Wow -- vet bill, blessed. I hope my biopsy bill isn't too shocking -- nurse reminded me that I would not have met my deductible for insurance by this early in January... so I have no idea what to expect.
So, I'm late getting here tonight, but it's my first night alone since Christmas Day. I decided I "deserved" some quiet time. I love having the dgrands here, but it is hard for me to follow any sort of plan or routine while they are here. It may be hard for me to have a plan or routine till I hear from the biopsy, but I will start trying to get back on track tomorrow... some laundry, some Christmas declutter, some normal PUPA.
