Re: Brrr!!! Thursday PWYC
I feel like I have lots of energy-it's cold and sunny - it feels good - I will enjoy it - dh and d mom are far from energetic. Mom wants to stay in her jammies and I don't see any harm for today.
we had a huge male coyote walk through our yard at 9:15 am - I haven't seen him in a long time. We have coyotes every night but this male is truly beautiful. I have to watch the dogs when they go in the yard in back bc of the coyotes.
I wonder if the rabbits in the woods suffered from the drought we had in the summer. Coyotes around here go after dogs and cats so I will have to be particularly careful.
hi d Nancy
yay on steps, making bed and cooking! I am sure it smells great in the house.
hi d kathyrn I have heard that there have been a lot of young adults in our area that have had pneumonia or norovirus as well.
yay on starting your day
hello everyone!
time to put the two washed cushion covers on the cushions - wish me luck.
they are hard to put on
waving to all of you!

Re: Brrr!!! Thursday PWYC
Because yesterday Tobias napped with me in bed, and has only done that once (on the same day of last cycle), never otherwise, I guess that was his clue I was going into this next bad time. And sure enough this morning was awful. I was so sick I just sat and waited on the couch for something to change. Evenuatlly had corn flakes HRH fixed - all I could stand to look at. Halfway through put banana in for potassium sake. Got morning pills down, began to fall asleep again and went to bed for a nap.
I had hoped for sewing today, a little bit during daylight. So far, I don't think so.
So very cold - I am achy with it and feel bone-chilled in the house, where thermometer must be lying, saying the heat is keeping up. I have eaten a small serving of the chickpea salad that is so fresh with bitsy chopped veg. Glad I' felt well enough to make that Tues. Because it is chilled, it doesn't bother tummy as much.
We have everything we need if the snow comes as expected tomorrow.
Enjoying your PODA chat.

Read a couple of chapters in my new to me book I got myself for Christmas.
Had woke with a headache and head was draining that has improved now glad for that.
Bread has raised and is baking now.
Had meat & veg. & broth already.
Watched three squirrels eating buds on the branches of the maple tree.
Walked
Knitted
napped
Had dinner & did up the dishes got em put away.
Dumped the trash.

Re: Brrr!!! Thursday PWYC
enjoy your book d Nancy -
I undertook the pantry and it seems to be a bigger job than I thought. so far I h ave washed down three shelves and tossed some rotten oranges/apples/onions.
stock is all in one place now.
mom does not want to change out of her jammies - I am not going to push it. - hoping to gently persuade without it being noticeable.
it's amazing how a job can seem like its taking the whole day when a few hours have gone by. I have one more shelf to organize and one to empty and wash/organize. mom started to get tired and dh has been puttering - when this happens I feel like resting with them
- will try to paint these shelves in February. why I wait on cleaning all these kitchen shelves and cabinets is a mystery to me. If I did it once a month then I could keep it organized and clean.
it took me 4 hours to finish the pantry! it was a job but its washed, decluttered and organized.
dogs are going crazy over a young opossum - it's hurting no one.

Re: Brrr!!! Thursday PWYC
I did a lot of outside things today. Took out compost and recycling. Put all donations into the car. Stopped at jewelry store which included having to walk down the street and across a 4 lane road. The store I went to was right in the middle of 2 sets of lights. I also went to the drop off at the food bank and the thrift store. Lots of driving but the roads were clear and it was sunny. Then I got some in-town errands done.
When I got home, I saw that dh had done some dishes. He said he also swept the kitchen floor. I thanked him. I had some lunch and then I had a nap. I woke up at 4:30 again this morning with a pounding headache at the back of my head.
We had shake n bake pork chops with fake mashed potatoes and corn for supper. I've also had a long, hot shower.
Swamp People is on tonight and so is Mountain Men. Good thing I had a nap earlier! I will sit beside dh and stitch.

Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Re: Brrr!!! Thursday PWYC
(((Harriet)))... I am so sorry you're having such a rough day. Praying for you to feel better soon.
I've been inside most of the day, and done nothing, but tonight I went out with DS, ddil, dgrands and ate at a Mexican restaurant. I had asked DS if he wanted to go to Next Town, because I hoped the papers had been delivered over there. They did not bring papers to our town today because the mail did not run -- subscriptions all go through the post office now. The mail did not run because of Carter's funeral, I think. (Do any of y'all remember this kind of observance for previous presidents? I do not. I guess Bush was the last president to die, but I don't remember anything more than flags at half-mast.) There were no papers in next Town either -- but boy -- Publix was running over with people. That's where I went to look for a paper. The lady there told me she had checked at two places and she couldn't find one either.
Anyway -- I wonder if we'll have mail tomorrow. They are predicting anywhere from 1-8 inches snow/ice. Sometimes that sort of forecast ends up making us look foolish when we get absolutely nothing. But schools are closed, courthouse is closed, got a message that my ENT is closed, everyone is certainly expecting a Snowcopolase.
As Twins so accurately put it:
It's definitely brrrr weather here -- I think 31 right now, but it will be in the 20s before any precipitation falls.
Nancy, I am trying to read more "real" books also. I finished It's Not Supposed to Be Like This yesterday, and started Get Out of Your Head. I usually prefer fiction, but I'm trying to read things right now that will help me get a better mindset as I approach that biopsy.
WTG, Cathy on all your errands -- and WTG to your dh, doing that s/s of the kitchen! Hope your headache is gone by now.
WTG, blessed on cleaning that pantry! I certainly KWYM about wanting to rest with your dmom and dh when they are resting. That is so good that your mom got to talk to her cousin in France!
Now I have no excuse, though -- there's no one here for me to blame my lack of energy on. And I have certainly had a lack of energy since Christmas. My goodness... I just don't want to do ANYTHING. I think it is a combination of anxiety and depression. But I think if I can only get past the biopsy and get good news from that, maybe I can return to something more normal... whatever my new normal is.
(((Kathryn))) I hope you feel better soon, too!
LadyM -- hope y'all stay warm! Sounds like your forecast is much like ours!
Well... DGS has put the Notre Dame/Penn State game on tv. I think I'll hunker down and read some more. It's just really nice to have DGS here. He's running up and down the hall, playing some sort of football game by himself, but just having him here is so good for me.
Sometimes I need some quiet time, but sometimes, this house is just too quiet. I really can't think past the immediate future -- tomorrow, the weekend, next week with the biopsy... but I can't even imagine how I'm going to do this on and on and on without dh. I don't want another husband -- don't take this the wrong way! I can't imagine starting over with someone new. I don't WANT anyone new. I just can't see the future... how I will ever have anything to look forward to, or plan for, or anything like that. I love spending time with DS and the dgrands, but beyond that, I just really feel like there's not much ahead for me. I can't imagine ever being really excited about anything again. I guess eventually I will get past this, but right now I'm just kinda getting through each day, doing what has to be done, and dreading every new step that I have to pick up where dh used to be responsible. (Taxes, for example). I'm sorry to end this on such a depressing note, but y'all are the only people I can talk to. Thanks for being here.

DGS is spending the night with me, DGD went home with DS, and ddil is heading over to her new workplace. She is afraid they are going to be very short-handed, and she doesn't want to risk waiting till morning and having bad road conditions. In the south, it never pans out the way they predict it will, either way. My hopes have been dashed so many times, especially as a child, hoping for school cancellation.

Harriet: I'm sure you are already doing this but just in case, make sure you have on a warm hat and neck warmer (or something around your neck) as those are two places that, if not covered, make one feel colder. I prefer my hair down in winter because it keeps my neck warm without having to resort to a turtleneck. And if you don't have hand/wrist warmers, you can make a pair easily out of old socks. Back of the wrist is another place I feel the cold.
Here's a 55 second YT Video showing where to make cuts. Funnily enough, I have those socks! (They are still socks.)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jidUguBfnrw
I know your cold is more internal than external but let's not let any body heat escape.
Doc appointment is a prescription for physio therapy. He says it is likely not arthritis but bursitis and LTB needs work.
Now to find the card from my old physiotherapist....
Dinner was pork stew leftovers from the freezer. Yay, a big thing out of the fridge freezer!
I did the cleanup.
Been surfing for LA fire stories and maps. Ken has friends that are on the edge of the Eaton fire overlooking a canyon. Their home is a Frank Lloyd Wright so I hope it survives. Watching the Napa fire (found it on the CA wildfire map page) just because we have family there too. It isn't significant.
