33* / 40* F. today's temp. range.

Doing my morning journals & planning in the Liv. room so I can look out.
Reflections happening. More on the in J & C.

I had to write out D's list to see how I was doing. Not too bad.
BWP / So so but for the start of the new year I'm okay with that.
Slept in till 7 today so a slow start okay with that too.

Wins for today no headache yea!
Seeing a golden sunrise.
Waving I have flowers still blooming in my yard and no snow
Waving to all happy shoveling I actually like to do that as part of my exercises when we had it.

I'm dressed, spent time putting away Christmas jewelry and am wearing a Christmassy top (green, with a sparkly reindeer) because it had one more wear left in it before washing and putting away until next December. I have a scarf wrapped around my neck because my hair is up and the top is a scoop neck and it is cold here. Not really cold inside, (72*F) but I'm not moving around much.

I also mid-week watered some plants since it is dry here.

Putting things away in my bedroom showed how desperate the dusting situation is here. I really need to get to that as well.

Lots of emails flying around today which I find distracting. Dd has arrived safely in England and was with her dh and kids at the hotel. The friend in Altadena let us know their house is still standing but the neighbourhood is decimated. And resident association stuff resulting in lots of emails. On Monday I had 24 emails from that group alone.

Oh, joy. I did a thing.

I sewed a fine seam. What is they say?

Thou shalt sit on a tuffet
and sew a fine seam
and feed upon strawberries
sugar and cream.

And I had to change thread in the machine to do it, too. You'd think I'd lifted weights after that part. lol

But the complicated seam is well done.

Will have to change thread again now, so that waits while I rest on tuffet and laurels and remember this too shall pass.

Thinking of those in the way of fires. So alarming. Prayers.

Ordered 3 pizzas for DS16 to pick up on his way back from work. We used to order pizzas almost weekly, but it is becoming less common. I just looked at the last time I ordered pizzas was Nov 22nd. I didn't realize it had been that long.

I am giving myself permission to chill out and watch informational, motivating, and inspiring videos. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

Harriet: YGG! I hope your dh brings home strawberries and cream along with your meds (unless of course they'll make you feel worse!)

No progress here.

I think you deserve that down time, LadyM. You always seem to have so much going on.
Harriet, can I ask what you are getting treatment for?
How many times do you wear a sweater before washing it, Kathryn? I kind of just wear them until they're noticeably dirty or I spill something on them. I also checked on a couple friends in the LA area. Both are fine, though one has gone to SF because his apartment was smoky and there was ash raining down outside his building.
I've started some journaling, nancy. It's very helpful and therapeutic for me.
Hi Rose! We always sleep with a window cracked, even if it is below freezing outside, so sometimes our room gets chilly at night. I like snuggling under the blankets when the air around me is cool. Dh is my living electric blanket! LOL!
Nice to see you Mystery! I'm not here regularly. I happen to have this session off in terms of teaching classes at work, so I have more time!

I have accomplished a few small things since I was last here. I have
- chatted with dd26 who stopped by to print out materials she has developed for the parent-child sewing classes she teaches
- had lunch
- one payroll email reply
- re-ordered carry on suitcase gift for dd26 - the previous company cancelled my order on Jan. 9th. I had placed the order on Nov. 30. They said it was out of stock.
- edited NY blurb for NY cards which arrived today; sent it off to dh to edit
- figured out dinner and taken it out of the freezer: quinoa taco mix. We'll eat it over rice.
- checked with dd29 re: a piece of art she's making for BP who lost her dh this past fall. (I was going to drop off a gift bag at her house today or tomorrow, before I leave town.)

Next:
- some qt
- get in a jog -- now I'm thinking I might just walk to the gym and run on the track; I have some podcasts to listen to
- finally s2s and self care

I'm with you LadyM.
Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.
We've not seen this much snow in several years. Dh is taking ddog around again. He gets bored and she's still looking to me to walk her. Sorry, no.

I'm also sympathizing with Harriet and I'm cold cold cold today too. I have just been so cold this winter. Dh says it feels like it's 90 degrees in here to him and my hands and feet are so cold.

Helia…growing up I always slept with my window cracked no matter how cold it was. When I was a baby, my mom would bundle me up and covered me with blankets and set me outside on the back porch in my carriage for naps when it was cold. My two boxers slept by it.

My mother always slept with her window and later her siding glass door open…that’s why she insisted ona second floor condo. She had twin beds and for many years we slept together. Last words to me before we went to sleep was to open the window or the door. Didn’t matter if it was 10* and snowing, her window would be opened. I guess I picked up her habit.

My mom was seldom if ever sick and worked as a dental assistant for 20 years. And until she went into rehab at 94 never had a flu shot! She never had a cold and only the flu twice. She was the one that insisted we open the windows and air out the house several times a year including winters. And I’ve been doing that ever since I’ve moved away.
