helia, the quick overview is my post on the 5th page of November J and C. But I've been complaining ever since. (smile) In early April, I'll be going through the last of these hard middle weeks, and then recuperation. Dr made out a mini timeline for how I'll feel each 3-week section, writing "okay" and, I believe, "better" for first and third. For middle week, she just wrote B A D in capital letters. So far, right on the money.

I had a sort of sandwich of some extra croissants dstepson brought. Some Mexican cheese blend and romaine, but it seems to agree with tummy. HRH has made his famous spaghetti sauce, but I just look at it and disappoint him. Breakfast was more substantial, but other meals today had better be easy. Dstepson brought oranges that look good, and blackberries. For some reason, cold fresh fruit is acceptable. In a way, it doesn't make sense.

The pharmacy, which has been extremely hard to get ahold of today, says our scripts are ready for ds. I will have cash to give him when he arrives, because I thought of this sort of thing when out with dd26.

Nancy, a really meaningful milestone for you today. Thankful on your behalf.

Warm men - my dmother used to say "A man is a furnace". She was the classic cold lady and my ddad would tease her when she was younger, as he came in from the barn and would reach for her cheek. Boy, he had cold hands at those moments - I would run. A dairy means washing up in whatever temperature.

A first just happened.
DD13 counselor called me to give a couple of suggestions to try in our nudging DD13 toward better personal hygiene decisions.
We have been going to this counselor for 5+ years and this is the first time she has called me between appointments. I sooooooooo appreciate having her professional & caring advice in raising DD13. There are factors with DD13 that I haven't dealt with in the other kids I have raised. It feels somewhat like I'm walking through a field of possible landmines without a map. The counselor helps remind me of the big picture and factors that DD13 is dealing with.
Abandonment by both parents, abuse in her early years and autism are each a challenge. The combination of them raises the bar of making measured careful decisions in raising her.

mom has been a pistol - she did rinse all the dishes and put them in the dw -
I have had a lot of comments by her today and lots of eye rolls.

you are a wise parent - d lady. Learning to teach/guide each child to their own needs is not always easy. You are such an intelligent woman and an have an innate ability to know your children. I would have loved to have had such a wonderful teacher as you when growing up. You also have a good counselor to help guide you.

How many times do you wear a sweater before washing it, Kathryn? I kind of just wear them until they're noticeably dirty or I spill something on them.

This is a thin sweater barely heavier than a t-shirt so I'll wear two or three times after doing the sniff test. Spills, of course, shorten that.

Heavy wool/cotton sweaters that go on over long underwear or turtleneck get washed once or twice a season. For instance, the thin sweater wasn't enough so I now have a fleece cardigan on too and I don't think it's been washed yet this season. Everything that was at the cottage was washed when it came back but that was due to the wood-smoke smell.

Still not making any progress here. I thought being cold was what was affecting my productivity. I was wrong.

What are your favs. with val. approaching might be a fun thing to consider for youth, family, mom's, who ever.
I am thinking for later and have two small fav. scented shampoo bottles turned out to not be my fav. but might work for others.
Perfumes, scented beauty wipes mixed in with nail polish and skin care products. Maybe ear rings or necklace to make it fun and
not a chore for personal grooming. I struggle with this too. Adding this to my card file.

I had to step away from forcing an issue with mom.
it's been a rough day

today: the good
the good she washed dishes
she set up her date page with help
She was happy to have breakfast with me. and meds.

the hard:

She hasn't changed out of her pjs for 2 days and her underwear for 3 days - she forgot to put the new ones on.
today she is in a fighting tooth and nail type of day.
she didn't know that she didn't eat her sandwich - she was insistent that the sandwich by her plate wasn't hers - I just said ok - I will put it in the fridge.
She hasn't drank any water all day
She told me that she will do nothing I ask of her. when she puts her feet in the ground there is no moving her. she got super mad at me. I can live with it.

you can't argue with someone who has a brain injury or dementia - there is no logic. They believe what they believe.
I understand her frustration especially having me saying anything.
she will listen to my brother but not today but right now at this point she would not listen to him.

she doesn't want to look bad in front of strangers so she will be good with the caretakers at night again.. She still has to come here during the day bc she doesn't remember when she eats or doesn't eat.

Hopefully she will just get dressed. I thought after my shower she would want to change - nope - I can only guide to a point without her knowing that I am guiding her. Today was a rough day - they seem to happen after a few good days.

Oh, Harriet I'm so sorry to hear that. I went back to read your note in November. ((HUGS)) I suppose this is your middle week? So glad no one dies from it!!
Thanks Kathryn. That's helpful to know. You wash your sweaters more often than I do, especially my wool ones. Maybe once a season for them; maybe I should do it more often?
Aw, that's cute to think you bundled up with your dogs beside you as a baby, Rose. That's encouraging to think that maybe it's a healthy habit!
((blessedw2)) It's hard to care for someone with dementia. You're doing a good thing.

I have finished payroll GGT; now, I'm getting email replies. Finishing work creates more work. LOL! And I called the NH and got the names of a couple of people I should talk to. That was helpful.

Now, I'm going to jog. There's really no excuse not to. I'll just go to the gym so weather is not a problem.

We got a dusting of snow - and now it has stopped. This isn't very exciting. . . Maybe there's more snow elsewhere?
