Homemakers are so often the support system, the underpinning, the encouragers. Noticed or unnoticed, sometimes completely under the radar, but carefully THERE, the guidance and help from homemakers gives simple support. And we certainly see it here with support for each other.
How will you make sure your support is there for projects, plans, needs or dreams around your part of the world today? Will you reach out to make sure someone knows you are on their side? Will you sneak in a little help along the way? Make your home more welcoming for those who might appreciate it? Work ahead on kindness in gifts or donations?
Be sure to think of yourself and self-care as well. You are important!

Re: Supportive Sunday
Hi Harriet! Thank you for opening the village this morning.
I was sitting here reading, thinking I am not the most supportive homemaker on the planet... then I realized that there are many ways of being supportive. I have told my neighbour numerous times that if they are having company, that they are more than welcome to park on our driveway. We can fit at least 10 vehicles on our huge driveway. The neighbour has 3 vehicles and barely room for a 4th and 1 of their cars is a "Mini". Yesterday she texted and asked if they could park on our driveway today. Without hesitation, I responded "Of course!"
I did a bunch of stuff in the house yesterday. Today I need to water the plants and maybe dust. I also need to do the bed sheets. Other than that, I plan to try to take it easy today. Oh, I also need to empty the dishwasher.

Re: Supportive Sunday
Went to take my shower and the handle was messed up. Not something Sweetie can fix any more. We’ll call the plumber later this week as the washer repair man is suppose to show up today and we are having a very large tree in our front yard removed tomorrow. In the meantime I have two other showers I can use.
Yesterday Sweetie asked if I could design something like I used the other day to fix his spreadsheet accounting. He said he realizes he can no longer remember how to do his Excel on his computer. I looked up check register form on the computer and printed a very simple one for him. That made him happy.
Lucylee… crossed toes are very common on women and are hereditary. They can be fixed with surgery which is similar to Bunyan surgery. Toes are broken and reset and require a few days of bed rest and also wearing knee high boot. Some people also use one of those knee scooters.
I had my bunion done twice 25 years apart so with the second surgery my big toe was broken and set with pins and a bar. I was in terrible pain and teaching before I had it done and after that I was doing cross fit, mini tri-Athlon’s and Spartan obstacle races with no problems.

Re: Supportive Sunday
Looking in on Sunday morning - dh has gone to the treadmill to walk. He's dressed every morning to go and just ended up drinking coffee so he's finally doing it now.
Tomorrow is travel day. Already coming to terms with getting up super early again for 7:30 flight to ATL then home. The wedding is at 4 p.m. today so I don't expect it will be a late night. We went to the open house last night - was very crowded, very noisy. We greated the folks we knew and visited and stayed a couple of hours. During the day yesterday we got out and went to an upscale shopping/arts/tourist area and had lunch and walked there. Not sure that we'll get out between now and the wedding. And we have to get packed up tonight...

Re: Supportive Sunday
Good Morning!
Harriet - Thank you for the start and words of encouragement and inspiration.
Twins - I love hearing about your trip and doings.
Yesterday afternoon I found myself unable to walk normally. It was the strangest thing. One moment I was walking normally and the next thing I knew I couldn't take a step without intense pain. My left foot didn't hurt unless I put weight on it and tried to bend foot when taking a step. I massaged my feet but couldn't find any place that was tender. Everything looked normal. I gave it 12 hours of rest but there was no improvement. I decided to take an Aleve around 4:30am when I got up to go to bathroom and struggled to walk. A couple hours later, I woke up and was excited to discover that i could once again walk normally without pain. What a strange experience. I am extra thankful for simple things..... like the ability to walk.
I stayed home from church this morning. DH attended church by himself.
Breakfast was our favorite that we keep repeating. Someday we will get tired of it and change but for now it is what we decide daily to keep eating (eggs, bacon, hot link, bagel, fried potatoes) .
The ready-to-eat stash is almost nonexistent. There is enough for 2 people to have a meal. I need to get some inspiration for things to cook and get started.

Re: Supportive Sunday
Cathy, I actually thought of you for one as I wrote that, because you are so supportive of your dh and you support the needle artists around you when they meet. I know how easily those kinds of groups can falter without attention and attendance. They are encouraging, social.
Ramblin', you really did have a great recovery from that surgery. I think we would all admit to sometimes living vicariously through your wonderful activities, races, etc., all except the river rafting! We didn't like hearing about that one, yipes. (Should I be ducking and running?)
Mystery, I meant to say something to you. Wonder what it was? Hmmm... ..
I can get foggy.
Hoping the In Canadas are having a happy time and that Twins' Mom and Twins' Dad have a lovely time at wedding.
It was something like 5 or so (?) when I hadn't slept since 4 and thought I'd just go ahead and start our PWYC day. Having such good thoughts of you all at that hour. Was up until 6 and back to bed, managing another part of a night's sleep, though not much deep sleep, because of steroid.
Made breakfast/brunch by myself - not too weak. Also cleaned my plate. So still managing to be SUPPORT staff around here. Started nausea med to get ahead because I felt a sort of twinge of it and know it's on the way. We'll see.
Still haven't heard from dd27, who is our star turn today. I think that if at least she doesn't come to visit us alone, her Dad will go crazy with boredom. Hopefully, she's still on board with bringing the bits of hardware and helping him build the table. Our biggest obstacle might be that she worries about others with sickness and that she might spread it to our house. I told her to wear a really good mask if she needed.

Oh, good, she's coming. Stopping at hardware store rather than disturb sick households since her garage doesn't have an entire hardware store's worth of supplies yet, like siblings, lol. And ds is at church functions. I know I begged encouraged a little too much, but that is an example of unnoticed support for her Dad - he is getting lonely stuck here with a sick lady.
Oh, dear, blessed - the joys of an adventurous dog.

Re: Supportive Sunday
It is Fried Chicken Sunday here. We are not doing it the old-fashioned way from scratch, but we did share memories of when we did the entire process. I am not a bit sad that we don't have to do it that way now. Sometimes I think it would be nice to raise chickens again. But then the memories come flooding back and I decided nahhhh, I'm good. I have BTDT and I don't want to do that again.
DD49 had someone mess with her outside yard last night. They took some things but didn't come inside. She is filing a police report to document it. DSIL is back in Australia for a 6-month tour, so DD49 is living in that scary city/neighborhood alone. I offered her our spare bedroom.
