I'm upstairs, just finished Zoom session with mentee. I worry about her collecting/researching vs. writing. She's focused on getting research in place and I reminded her that she will think of other questions as she writes - for me writing it is part of the process because I see the holes in the research as I'm writing.

And this has been sitting....

I've done some cord management for the desk. Two monitors, a laptop, and charger for phone. And trying to straighten up the genealogy desk. Part of my motivation for working on this room is that it gives me a sanctuary when dh is home all the time. Quiet place to hang out.

I processed the planner stack I was working on and that was great!
Watching the neighbor's grand kids clean the shed shop garage and under the house behind me is pretty
entertaining for me and ddoggo.
Cold temps for one more day extended but was not surprised.
I have veg. in the big crock pot cooking now.

Hi! We had no internet for a very long day and a half. There is a now a temporary line from the box out near the street to our house. They will come back in the spring and bury it.

My goodness... I finished one book, read an entire other book and started another book. I also stitched, I did a load of dishes in the dishwasher, a load of laundry from start to put away AND 2 naps yesterday. We also went out for lunch yesterday.

This will describe the weather here:
No one showed up at the gravesite except the hearse and the flower van.
I mean, no pall bearers, no family, no one but me.
It was raining really hard, but I still thought dcousin’s children would be there. After waiting over an hour, I stayed in the car until the hearse left and then I left.

Home… ate… now I’m procrastinating.

I thought you all would enjoy this - Mom came out with my b. ra and said what do I do with this - very innocently - oh my goodness it gave me a big giggle - I told her it was mine and that I would take care of it.

mom helped me with hanging a picture. Her math made things complicated for her - but she had the right idea - it's an inch too short but dd older and I will get to it this weekend.

? I have watched bits and peaces on Downtown abby as well as read a basic synopsis of the story but I want to know if it is worth watching. Someone said it was like a soap opera and I have never been keen on those. Would you watch it?

LucyLee - I'm glad you were there for your DCousin.

A dozen times a year (or so) the nearby National VA cemetery will announce they have a former military person being buried without any family members. This announcement results in dozens (sometimes hundreds) of community members showing up for the gravesite service.

Church services tonight have been cancelled due to the weather.

I expect we will have school tomorrow because of the sanding of the icy roads. Maybe.

I watched it years ago and have fond memories of that show. I did like to watch it online so I could frequently pause it to notice the details of the rooms, clothes and how they did tasks during that time.

I have watched DA numerous times.
I have started the jeep truck was a no go. Dang.
So I'll call for a jump & tell em to bring a better or best battery when they come this one is over 5 yrs. old.
But for now I do not need to go anywhere I did drive around the block to see the house behind and they hauled all the stuff off.
Drove on the loop and saw a deer.
I need to do my gazelle to finish up my steps I did walk to both corners.
Finished knitting on prayer shawl still need to work in the ends.
Still considering crochet edging or not on it.

Thank you all for the kindness of remembering me today. I've enjoyed catching up.

HRH would have none of the idea of me riding on a shuttle route, so he got me in the lobby and waiting. Then off he went to that deck. The comeuppance was that with no shuttle on the radar for a while, in fact never even seeing one, he chose a lull in the rainfall and walked back in the dark. There were enough lights from traffic and streetlights to make him feel confident. I was just giving him a couple more minutes before I felt I had to go up to appt. I was so grateful to see him come in.

The day was as hard as expected. They kept offering me tv, but without HRH I didn't want it. They do tests differently at this hospital, so things I thought I knew, didn't happen as I thought. I just kept doing as I was told - this place, that place.

The initial nurse had ordered "transport" (wheelchair) for when I was finished and I waited longer for that to come than the trip all through the hospital had taken the first time, walking. When we got to the waiting room, some nice nurse had given HRH a pillow and he was leaned with it in a chair beside a wall, napping. My "driver" was ready to give up, but I knew he would be there, and I saw his shoes, lol, and pointed around the corner. I got "parked" waiting in the lobby and off he went, again seeing no opportunity except walking, this time in a slow drizzle. That deck is so far away, I don't think most people would think it was for the hospital. We came straight home.

I took a long nap after getting back. He made sloppy joes with non-meat and I felt well enough to make a sort of slap-dash coleslaw. I tried the shortest bit of exercise and did it, but very tired.

We cleaned out the refrigerator together. Needed it badly. We watched a BBC mystery. Hetty Wainthrop Investigates, if anyone knows it - not so "cozy" or "nice" murders, and it's not a new series, more from Murder She Wrote time. But love "Hyacinth" Patricia Routledge as the star.

Nancy, we are starting to need a new microwave, too. This one, Nostalgia Retro Countertop Microwave Oven - 800-Watt - 0.9 cu ft, has not lasted very long since only July 2022. It is small size for my small size kitchen, and gets compliments because it is pretty but maybe we give it hard use, don't know. I like the aqua (they say teal?) color but will buy another brand next time. On A-River there are those in competition with it that cost a little more and look similar, aqua. In the other house we had space for a big strong microwave that lasted twice as long - don't remember what it was, though! I think dd still used it after we were gone for a while.

Tomorrow my first appt starts almost as early, also cold and rainy, but within the time frame of the valet parking at the more familiar place. We will be all day there but in a space together a lot of the time.

I am not sure what brand my other one was, I looked at the air fryer combo ones on line today not excited about that.
I am pleased to learn a couple new ways to heat up carbs can you believe I"ve never fried a burrito shell can't spell the Tortillia word,
or cut a roll in half to toast in my toaster that has bigger slots for bagels. I tried toasting in a pan with butter with a roll it was cold in the middle.
Oh well I suck a grilled cheese sands just sayin'.

Had chicken salad for dinner.
Hydrated it's a challenge with the cold temps.
Got my steps in today.
Tomorrow I"ll vacuum I think it's good to keep moving.
One more cold night and snow in the forecast tomorrow and Fri. 1-2" they never know on that.

Will be thinking of you all tomorrow and Harriet again especially.
