I need a simple day - nowhere to be, no pressure. Not sure I'll get it, but it's something for us to hope for. It's renewing, it allows us creative and piddling time, and time to just be still and think.
Here's hoping for that simple day!

Morning…
Twins… one of my favorite songs is called sassafras tea. My teenage bf used to sing it to me. He was a folk musician. You can Google the words. And I call my dgd Sassafras Girl!
Not much to do around the house today except finish my morning routines. I’m still in my pjs and drinking coffee, but hey, it’s the weekend
We had to buy 150lbs of salt yesterday for our pool and know at some point today I’ll be helping Sweetie with putting it in it.

Re: Keep it Simple Saturday PWYC
My goodness!! I am so glad I went to the grocery store early. It's a long weekend here, with "Family Day" on Monday. The kids had a snow day on Thursday which means there were no school buses on the roads, but most schools were open so parent's could drive them to school if they wished. There was a day off school on Friday for the teacher's to have a "Professional Development" day. Altogether 5 days off for the kids. I think a lot of families all went to the grocery store together. Man, the store was so busy! I did check the price of eggs, in case you were wondering. Less than $3. per dozen at the store I was in. I have heard the prices in the states are much higher.
We are also having a snow storm here. That is why I left early. There was very little snow coming down just before 10 when I left here. I had to clear my car off an hour later when I was leaving the store. Now it's even worse. I put my car in the garage. After the last time I had to clear it off, I was thinking how crazy it is that I hadn't parked it inside before that storm.

Re: Keep it Simple Saturday PWYC
Walked three laps earlier - two with dfriend M and R uby, so I'm almost halfway to steps needed today to get to 52500 for the week.
Dh home from Torah study and trip to boat show. Thought he's stay a lot longer! I think he's napping in front of the FL St basketball game now.
We're overcast and cloudy again, going to high in mid-fifties. Heavy rain and T storms beginning again tonight.
I'm just now eating my brunch.
I hope you're having a good day, bw2. Read your other thread - don't let your dds get to you. You have good instincts for your dmom's care, and I understand you not wanting to have dds tied down to caretaking.
Your pool is open year round, Rose? What a lot of salt to dissolve!
And more snow for Cathy! I hate to go to the grocery when there are families with multiple children wondering around, clogging things up. I get grumpy! Also wife and dh shopping together and he's lost and in the way! (That's us next year - I hope not! Dh wants to read all the labels and look at everything before he can decide. I speed-shop.)

Re: Keep it Simple Saturday PWYC
I’ve been to the post office, McD’s, and ds’ to get dgs. We all ate breakfast, then I took Dgd back to the preacher’s house to play with her grandson. Then I went to the rec center and signed up dgs for baseball… and now I’m home with dgs and TA DA — I am “visiting my colorist.”
I also have done my devotional reading.
Much better start than most Saturdays.
Stay warm, Cathy!

Lucy L. yea for today's accomplishments.
Twins I used to have LH go look at sporting goods dept. & we would meet at the front of the store where they had benches.
I have peeled eggs & devil them is next; I've made my bed gotten dressed turned on the charger on the rig.
We have sun now snow tonite. 25* / 37* is today's temp. range.
It has been changing so we will see but now Mon. is rain not Sun.
Time to check the mail.X
-----
CI after lunch time ~ I have not eaten yet however. Except for a deviled egg got them done.
Did get out and started the running rig it was slippy on the ones before the main drag
but thankfully I did okay and it's only a couple of blocks, did not have to put it in 4x4.
Glad I did actually drove around and then got fuel & a few items at the market.
So glad that is done yea!
Walked ddoggo up a bit further till there was snow then turned around came back.
Went outside and shoveled trails for ddoggo & I to use when it melts off.
I still have to keep working on my step count today however.

Re: Keep it Simple Saturday PWYC
Waiting on dd26 and dsonil to arrive with lunch - they are late and so I hope it's just the general crowdedness of weekend following Valentine's, etc.
HRH put the new carpet sweeper together for me (just handle) and we swept the room-sized rug and then cleaned the sweeper. In general, very impressed that it does a good job. It does take as much time to clean it as it does to sweep with it, but then sweeping is just whoosh, whoosh and rug looks good.
They called and are 15 mins away. I have had a small brunch, but HRH was waiting on them. He's hungry!
His sister called this a.m. and spent half an hour on the phone.
Tax lady has confirmed a Monday drop-off time, so that is one thing getting done.
blessed, you have a lot of life experience and more experience with eldercare than, perhaps, anyone else in your family. I tend to hear you saying "safety first", which is wise in all areas of life. Of course, let others make their cases to you, though. If some kind of certainly could be arranged, going somewhere else might have good aspects for your dmother.

Re: Keep it Simple Saturday PWYC
I love to see that you are "Rumbly in My Tumbly" as Winnie the Pooh used to say d Harriet!
yay on the new carpet sweeper - my grandmother had one - I always wanted one for rugs - we have wood floors with the dogs. it's been good for us.
how nice to talk to your sister!
thank you d harriet - I am putting a lot of thought into what's best. The girls want her to be back in Florida to keep her independent and moving- but I see things that are definitely dementia/alzheimers.
Mom says she likes being here bc she is not lonely but there is a cost of her not moving in her circles all day -it keeps her moving physically.
I have seen her body going down hill since being here - but the physical therapy is making a difference; although slow.
(lots and lots to think about
) I don't want to do anything that would hurt my mom. I may find a specialist.
mom took a wee nap after helping dd older.
I worked in the basement with spot washing the rug. I think the rug needs to be torn up bc I believe there is mold under neath bc I see black about the door now. (our water heater burst and the rug pulled it all in). I will ask my brother what he thinks)
