Studious Saturday

Post by Harriet »

Homemakers are often in study. We surely rely on the "smarts" we've gained over years ;)
but we are always learning! It benefits us, and benefits our households and beyond.

Are you making a study of something fun or fascinating lately? What is piquing your interest?
What are you learning about in order to avoid pitfalls :? or be prepared for the unexpected?
Have you been able to impart some new knowledge recently to help someone else?

I have been diving into the 12 week year book & field guide is on the way next week for that.
I'm hoping it's a great work book for my Q2 goals.
I am currently doing a reset and different focus on home and rig maintenance.
Last quarter Q1. was faith focused.

I am doing a reset on my planner with notes and some lists too.
Getting an over view in my comp. note book with page and plan ideas for going forward
to go in a Bu-Jo for Q3. later on this summer.

For now it's fascinating and I can do a rotation of mind body soul and spirit one in each quarter is what I've
figured out learning as I go with it.

Was thinking of Twins' imminent travels to learn more at libraries. Also Nancy has been interested in courses. And several of us are studying either along with our housemate students or along with our coworkers. Lots of trial-and-error learning happening inside and outside our houses these days, too.

Pages of studious :? notes from all I learned yesterday at appts will be a topic of discussion here with HRH today.

Also, I have agreed to be a part of a global research study that has been ongoing for years. Not actually asked to do anything, I'll be anonymous, known only by a double name of my MMName and the place of my birth. My experiences and outcome in upcoming treatments will be added to their database to help those who come along later.

Grateful to have a weekend in which nothing is required of me.

We expect ds to try again to come by and finish the last touches on the back steps. He tried yesterday but literally couldn't work in the same spaces that the workmen were using/needed, so he had to postpone.

There is some laundry.
Some Desk Day, especially checking on scripts.

Hoping all you bright people have a wonderful Saturday whether you are studious or taking a break.

Morning girls…

I slept till8:15 this morning. That seldom happens. However we had a cold front come through and it was 72* in my home when I got up.

House is in good shape and we moved all the dinning room furniture off the rug. Vacuumed it and will need to roll it up and move it. I have a new one coming from Amazon today.

I need to take a shower and then we are going to a car show. We also have the show Westside Story we are going to tonight with friends. Last night the club house had a comedian to entertain us and Sweetie who loves to laugh really enjoyed him. I was happy to see that.

I am participating with several Alzheimer’s groups which have been very interesting. Members share information about the LO…Love Ones. Some good, some not so good, but at least I have a better idea of what to come and ways to handle many things. I am keeping a notebook of how people address things like aggression, sundowners, extra caretaker help and addition legal issues with their LO. This is certainly not an easy road to travel, but I’d rather be prepared than to hit the detours blinded.

I enjoy reading and cuop here. As for studious Saturday not very much here. I have been rather overwhelmed and scattered lately I can't focus on much at all. But I should be doing some research like you are ramblinrose. Alzheimers/dementia is not an easy road. I see many of you have a family member in this. My mom is too. It's so hard to watch and I feel for all of you. I just came from a whole week of watching mom.

Hope you all have a wonderful day. Mine is going to be filled with getting back my house and into my neglected projects. Because the older kids are on their own and I have empty bedrooms. And a mold issue that we fixed this winter. Ds 15 has bounced around in different rooms. Dd room is good. Is my guest room now. Full of all if ds 26 left behind stuff. Ds 15 room was the mold issue. It's the smallest bedroom. It is now repainted and very full with a big desk in it going to be my craft room. But he's still sleeping in there as ds 26 room is going to be his. The biggest warmer room. But it's now empty and taken 2 months to get repainted. Desperately needed it. Everything is uprooted in that end.

That is the goal now we've made it through dad's surgery. Today I have to get started with primer...

Thanks for getting us started Harriet! I was trying to, and dh and houseguest were making it difficult, lol. Guest is headed home and dh went on to Torah study - too late for him to help with breakfast for he'll get to socialize. As is many Saturdays, he will check in with V at Torah study and perhaps plan something with them for today or tomorrow.

I was up in the middle of the night turning the heat on - I had it off because we and ddog were in and out so much yesterday and then I had the stove on for lasagna too. Otherwise, slept well but might take advantage of a nap if the opportunity presents itself later.

The evening went well with dinner guests, I was just so tired. Dh insisted on building a fire in the firepit although I wasn't sold on it. We still had the fire danger warning and I was just tired. Guests probably left by 9:30ish. Dh did a lot of clean up but was hanging out with dguest so I did what I could and went to bed.

In reflecting on this last week, I did a lot of research (great!) but very little of the other things on my to-do. Well, also hosted a houseguest and dinner party on relatively short notice? Dinner party was short notice, houseguest has been on our calendar awhile. Next week I have two workouts (I skipped one this week), a dr appointment, a haircut, and a day of webinars. I'm behind on accounting for HOA and for cemetery and paper taming all around and that's weighing on my mind since I'll be away beginning 30 March, for probably more than a week. This is the time last year that I fell behind on everything after our trip to Europe and broken wrist so it seems scary to be falling behind right now. Although....I'll come home healthy in the future!

And after the busy day yesterday I'm resisting doing almost anything. I need recovery right now.

Studious. Yes, there's a lot on my mind - things I've learned from my research lately. The FAN group principle in effect again - study the dude's friends/family, acquaintances, and neighbors for clues about origins. And hoping the four days of research in Richmond will be productive too.

Dh texted that we're going to the river with A and V this afternoon, so we'll hang out there. I'll claim tomorrow at home.

Hi!

Does watching Hoarders count as studying? I always seem to get up during the commercial and do something.

Another overcast, rainy day here. All the cats are sleeping.

Pork roast for supper tonight.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

The car show was great… lots of cars and there was a live 7 piece band that was amazing.

Sweetie loves live music almost as much as I do. The band had had a saxophone a trombone and a trumpet. Sweetie loves to listen to brass interments because he played a trumpet for a long time and so did his dad. In fact his dad played with a band till he was in his early 80’s. All in all it was a great outing!

Home now and have eaten my lunch. I’m gonna put my feet up and read outside for a while
