The REAL ID went smoothly. We went to a smaller town nearby that didn't require appointments. Our town does and was booked up all the way up until the deadline. After we get the permanent IDs aka drivers licenses with passport identification proof - will renew our passports.

There's a few people you mentioned yesterday that haven't been around for some time that might miss the switch. I miss musicalcatlover. It's been several years. She was having some very severe health struggles and I hope she's ok.
Hmm there is a lot going on in my day today. I can pick my work again. Except today makes most sense early. Dh is off. Ds has one more bball camp. I have my lab appointment at 11. Dad has staples out later on. My sister is taking care of that and E is going to mom. Plus a lot of freight to process. I will do what I can.
I think a soak is in order. Basic routine. And just some slow time. Before a crazy day.

I'm finally here! I slept late; I have not been setting an alarm.
((Bama)) I'm very glad you've found us again! I used to enjoy hearing about your girls. Hard to imagine they're grown up now. Yes, Smile filled in for me well. My mother has been in a nursing home in central Illinois for 4 years now. My father passed away almost 3 years ago. I've been driving down to visit every 5-6 weeks once things opened up a bit more after covid vaccinations. The nurses there say I'm the only visitor Mom gets, even though my brother lives 30 miles away. I'm also tired of making that drive regularly -- SO I've found a place here in Michigan just a 12 minute drive from my home. Moving her successfully and getting her settled in will be next steps. She's both strong -- and not strong.
You do have a lot going on today, laurlind. Enjoy some calmness before the craziness! Smile, I really need to look into the real i.d. here. I will fly again in July.

There's nothing on my calendar today other than hosting our biweekly dinner party @ 6:30. Maybe 4-6 in attendance? There are a lot of things I need to do, however, including: go for a jog, get groceries, finish HW for dh's chapter, finish GGT for payroll, contact AP re: hospital bed, arrange to have a bed delivered if possible, start looking for a chest of drawers for Mom, and make an appointment for real i.d. This probably will not all happen today - but hopefully a good chunk of it will.
It's kinda sunny which always helps my motivation. I'm going to jog this afternoon when temps will be a bit warmer, in the 40s.

laurlind ~ hope your busy day goes smoothly. helia ~ re: REAL ID - I'd just call to see if you need an appointment at your local DMV. We were surprised that Champaign had no availability from now up till May 7, the deadline. We drove up to Gibson City which - you know - is a very small town. No appointment required. We waited about 5 minutes - and that was it. So, a nearby small town is always an option.
Did some online ordering. Deleted all my 23 & Me data and then deleted my account. Had to find out some other info, so I'm way behind in my "perfect list." Time to get going! Back to Flybys for a do over.

Helian, I am so thrilled you have found transportation! and that they have a nurse who will accompany your mother! Whatever you are paying them is totally worth it! Can you arrange transport for early in the week - Monday or Tuesday - so that the "regular" staff will have some time to learn a bit about your mother before the lower staff ratios that are generally on the weekend? And there will be a few days to iron out any wrinkles, get the right questions asked and answered. I do predict that your mother will thrive in the new environment, from what you have said about the place she has been for those years.
I've been to PT fo r my foot. PT says I have not made much progress, even tho I have done the exercises and she has used the modalities. She thinks I should go back to the dr for further evaluation. I'll get that scheduled.
dfBS is hospitalized probably coming home tomorrow. I will have to arrange that into my schedule.
In just a few minutes, I need to leave to take my mother to a dr appointment so I can't stay here and visit.

It's a DRAMA day for me! Drama at work, drama at home, if I turned the TV on, I am sure there would be drama on! Can't do much about the work drama, that will continue tomorrow, but gee, the school really chose a bad to day mess with my family! One of the twins came home with a teacher note about unlawful use of cellphone and warning about disciplinary action and all that hollier than though she's a liar and you need to teach her to admit when she's wrong and apologize. Which of course would be a bad thing, even if she has a different version, I mean, they claim they have a witness! What I have, though, is her phone log from the family link, proving HER version. So I submitted the log to the school asking to remove that teacher note from her file. I am very curious if they will be the bigger person they claim she needs to learn to be and admit they were wrong and apologize?
I don't do criminal law, but I am in charge of the company's whistleblowing program, which sometimes includes investigating murky claims.
But boy, do I feel exhausted! I mean, that was on top of doing 2 hours of overtime, and I was in meetings basically from 9:30 to 3:30, so I will stick to basics today.
