I am considering a fire in the fire pit.

New card for me is Fire Fri. I'm still figuring that out.
Up in the night got a lot of journaling done.

It's frosty out here this morning.
I've swept and mopped in the kitchen dining room, hall & bathrooms. Yea!

Morning Nancy…

Did not go to class this morning. I’m exhausted from constant coughing. My lungs are clear.. the dr checked them out with a blowing machine… so I bought OTC med for sinus and cough yesterday and it helped. Also got a prescription of heart burn as the dr thinks it is contributing to my coughing at night while I sleep

The dr ordered a scoop of my sinuses as he believes that is the major contributor to all my problems. We shall see

Going to my coffee gathering and then to the dollar store. Need to buy wrapping paper for my Grand daughter’s birthday tea party tomorrow. She will be 6. Need to redesign my hat with the appropriate flowers to go with my dress.

Once home, Sweetie and I will finally install the new pad under my dinningroom rug. Be glad to get it done

Harriet… know what you mean abt grocery shopping when you have no appetite. It’s even worse when you need to cook for someone else when you don’t feel like eating.

Off to get dressed. Time to start wearing my summer shifty dresses. Simple to slip on and wear and cool. It’s gonna be 92* here today. Remind me…Why did I move here

Today it's genealogy that has me on fire! Last day and I've got the "monkey mind" going, jumping from place to place with should look at this and that. It's been a productive three days and I expect today will be as well.

Tomorrow a.m. I head out. I will go to some of the Civil War battlefield sites before heading toward home. Thinking now I'll go a little bit of the way tomorrow and the rest on Sunday? But subject to change.

Ddolder has outdoor fires in a fire pit and the boys roast marshmallows for s'mores, hotdogs, etc. It is nice family time. Sometimes I think others in the family go over. We haven't gone. At times, the boys are having camping nights with tents afterward - her youngest loves that.

Cathy just rescued a meal by heading for trusty traditional fire (bbq) when the electricity went out.

Fire Friday also made me think of actual fires out there, and that other areas might have fires, too - and they may, of course, hope not. To report on our news, the terrible wildfires sort of between Twins' area and mine... .. Don't know if others have heard of Table Rock, a lovely destination and preservation parkland in the Smokey Mountains. I believe they say the fire there is 97% contained today, but it spread over 16,000 acres and 8 million dollars damage/cost.

Ramblin', if your dr turned out to be right about heartburn, books by Dr. Jamie Koufman are really helpful in explaining the connection between acid reflux and various upper respiratory problems like sinusitis. Her Dropping Acid was a NYTimes best seller. Can probably be found at libraries, or used these days for small prices.

Lauralind, that's great that you think your ddad will be back to taking care of himself in a couple weeks. His recovery is going well. I have a dd26, too, just married in June, but we don't expect them to have a child anytime soon. Didn't realize you have a grandchild so tiny right now! What a joy.

Hi!

Dh is in need of clean pants, so I've got a load of pants and towels going in the washer. I will take them to the laundromat when I go to the Friday Fibre group. There is a laundromat in the same plaza.

There is only one dirty pot to be washed. I think I can handle that between now and noon. There are dishes that need to go into the dishwasher.

I've also done some stitching this morning. Sometimes when 12 or more women are all talking at the same time, it's hard to actually get any stitching done.

Yes he is so precious. First one . Just need to see him a little more but life is busy and ddil has had a bit of a rough recovery from c section and pre ecclampsia. She's not always feeling well and I have been busy and exhausted.

I think that is what I'm looking for is something that lights a fire in me again. Sometimes I just have no drive. Need to fix that.

I enjoy CUOP each morning from what I missed yesterday. It is one of my favorite things to do.

SKIPABLE chatter about teeth cleaning appts.
Yesterday's trip to the big city periodontist appt went as smooth as possible considering the drive was done in the rain. We have what others would consider to be almost no traffic in comparison to less rural areas. About 95% of the driving is 80mph on 4 lane interstate roads (with tolls). Although the drive is easily doable, I have made the decision to find a different solution and not repeat appt with this hygienist. IMHO she was about half as good as my current hygienist, cost twice as much and required a two-hour drive. No thank you. I will do my best to follow recommendations for every 3 month teeth cleaning but I have no intention of including this hygienist in my future. My current hygienist stays booked up and her next available appt is November. I have an appt with her in July so if I can grab a November appt then that would fulfill my needs. Their office is closed today but I am making a note to call with request to get on her schedule for a 3 month reoccurring appt.

SKIPPABLE chatter about gardening challenges.
Our weather is doubling down on getting my attention. Now they are predicting SNOW tomorrow night. SNOW on top of all my tender summer plants?!!! Eeeeek! We have already had 86F weather this spring and now we get snow? Gotta love a good gardening weather challenge. I have plenty of 5 gallon buckets to put over the top of the plants to protect them from the freeze & snow. Some of the plants have grown so much they will have to be bent to fit inside a 5 gallon bucket. The problem is the metal cages and tops that surround the plants. The metal structure will have to be deconstructed in order to get the 5 gallon buckets to the plant locations. I think that will protect the couple dozen or so tomato and pepper plants. The 80+ flower plants will just have to get tough or perish. I have a large carpet piece that I can put over the top of the potato plants with metal structure to hold the carpet above the tender green potato tops.
It isn't perfect but hopefully will be enough protection for the plants to survive the snow and the few hours of near freezing wather.

Thanks for the start, Nancy! Like Lauralind, I need something to light a fire in me -- long-term, anyhow. It has been a long while since I had any sort of hobby/relaxation that was mine. I play games with the family, but I don't really have any means of renewing myself, and I used to consider myself very creative. Short-term, I need a fire lit under me!

I made a good start on the dishes yesterday, and DH said he would take over when he got home. Apparently he only continued until I declared it a pizza on paper plates day, though, because in addition to this morning's breakfast dishes and glasses from last night, there are still some dishes from the previous pile remaining. And, frustrating me even more, DH has done his usual of leaving the job with dishes still sitting in water that gets cold and skeevy overnight.

So when I'm done here, I will either attack those dishes or make lunch and make more dishes, which I will then attack. I'm starting to get behind on laundry again, too, so that's a priority. The old dinner, dishes, and duds. I've got salmon in the fridge for dinner -- I put it in to thaw for yesterday's dinner before I declared pizza night.

I've peeked in on payroll work today. Didn't have much to do. Sent an email yesterday to coworker who may or may not be the boss of me -- I'm not entirely certain of the chain of command on this project, but when push comes to shove, I'm really just a temp. Got a reply back -- actually got it back shortly after I sent the e-mail, but I didn't hear the little "ding," and the computer shut itself down, so I didn't see it when I was shutting off the computer. Anyhow, it meant a tiny little change to the outline I've been working on. There is still nothing in the folder for me to work on next week -- I am hoping I don't have to wait too long next week to get started.

Anyhow, that's life here.

Rose, I hope your cough gets better soon. I assumed you were hot in the desert, too -- but I guess that was a dry heat.
Twins, I hope you have yet another productive day; I imagine this trip will give you lots of stuff to work on when you get home.
LadyM, we have snow in our forecast for Monday night. Annoying here, but nobody here has anything planted if they have sense. Daffodils are blooming and forsythia and weeping cherries, but that's about it. Sounds like you have much scurrying to do to keep things safe.
