Re: White Leda Rose Wednesday @ TDD - C&C
‘White Leda’ is an old, highly fragrant Damask rose bred by an unknown English breeder in the UK before 1827. This variety is celebrated for its striking contrast of milk-white blooms edged with deep crimson, accompanied by a rich and intense fragrance.
The flowers are medium-sized (6–9 cm), very full, and have flat rosette shape with an old-fashioned button-eye, exuding a strong old rose scent. The milk-white petals occasionally have a soft blush of pale pink and are bordered with dark red or uneven crimson-pink edges, creating a stunning contrast between the white and crimson outline.
The blooms appear in small clusters, typically in late spring or early summer.
The flowering is abundant, mostly once per season, though occasional repeat blooms may occur.

Re: White Leda Rose Wednesday @ TDD - C&C
Good morning, Trissie, and thank you for starting us off, and for another beautiful rose.
Gma, I'm glad the nurses are so conscientious about your DMum's care.
L.Ann, I think many of us feel the same way about our kitchens!
Laura, could you have a look under the kitchen thread? Lady Maverick often posts there with lists of how she feeds her growing family with teenagers. It might give you some ideas how to cope with DS's appetite? I think her DS is 16yo, so a similar age.
Bama, you got lots done -WTG!
Sleep well, Dogged!
We had a nearly-but-not-quite a frost last night, another reminder that it is Too Early for the summer bedding yet, despite the warm, sunny days. But, OTOH, this means we are rewarded with the most amazing sunrises!

Re: White Leda Rose Wednesday @ TDD - C&C
Musings for today: DH goes to the office, and I have a "free" day at home. I'm hoping for a good , productive session in my garden - I need to hang the "envelopes" containing the predator for the fuchsia gall mite on and around my fuchsia bushes. I haven't seen any signs of it yet, but the predator is supposed to be used as a preventative if the gallite.was bad the previous year (it was
) so I want to get ahead of the game. I also need to make another on the calendar to order some more predator in about eight weeks' time. I think my pots could do with watering, and I'm sure there's some general tidying/ weeding to do. I would also like to have some time just sitting out there quietly for a few minutes, but this may not be possible depending on what else is going on in the neighbourhood! ( The contractors are supposed.to be coming back in the immediate future to do Dnextdoorneighbour C 's fibre instalI *properly*, and that is not going to be a quiet exercise!). The guy yesterday seemed to think that going across her lawn would be the most sensible route. I agree, but because of the way it slopes, they are almost certainly going to need to use our front path just to work from (no digging). I am fine with that (anything to get C's internet up and running!), so long as they don't touch my plants. They are mostly roses, however, and as Dogged has so rightly pointed out, they are very good at defending themselves!
On the housework front - can I do a quick dust/ tidy / hoover upstairs as soon as DH has left for work? This would get it "done" and out of the way, and would just leave the kitchen to do later, along with a quick PUPA /dust/ hoover of the sitting room.
A walk would be good too - either before or after I do the garden.
Admin tasks - I need to write more upcoming appointments on the kitchen calendar .
There should be *plenty* of time to get all this done today, and chat with any neighbours who are around, so long as I use my time wisely!

Re: White Leda Rose Wednesday @ TDD - C&C
I'm sitting in my garden enjoying the sun - these are days to be stored up and treasured ready for when the rain returns, which it surely will at some point!
But today is beautiful again, and after I had had a quick tidy /dust / hoover upstairs, I came outside, and so far I have topped up the bark in my front garden and done a little weeding there. Now I'm turning my attention to the back garden - top of that list: trim the bits sticking out on the hedge, weed / dead head, water the pots and hang those "envelopes" on the fuchsias.

Re: White Leda Rose Wednesday @ TDD - C&C
Thank you for another rosy start, trissie! I didn't realize there were so many varieties of roses!
Enjoy your lovely sunrises and time in the garden today, Kitty.
I don't think I got here yesterday? It was a strange day - it felt very busy but also very unproductive.
I had a couple extras thrown in - lunch with dd26, which was delightful. The KSJ get together was moved to the afternoon, so I had 2 social events. Then, there was some payroll communication re: students, info, and the exit exam I'm coordinating on Friday. I made a fairly substantial trip to WF late in the afternoon to get groceries. Then, around 5 pm, I got an email from the trustee re: forms for Mom's taxes. I had gotten an email from her CPAs last week -- and totally let it slip between the cracks.
My bad. SO now I have 5 docs to scan and email to the trustee first thing this morning. They're looking for another document, but I don't have it. -Oh, and I accidentally dropped 2 of our Dansk bowls while getting one out for yogurt. They were slightly damp (from the dw) and had stuck to each other, so when I grabbed one, I grabbed 3 -- and the 2 I wasn't physically holding fell and shattered. . . SO now I need to order more bowls as well.
When it rains, it pours. BUT I've got a good raincoat and an umbrella!
I'm going to stay focused today and get lots done! That's my plan.
Today: I teach 1:30 - 3:30 and then I'm going to J11yo's tennis tournament from 4:30 - 6. Dh is out tonight giving an exam, so at least I don't need to worry about dinner. Besides payroll prep, exercise, and dailies, I also would like to make progress on these fronts:
- Mom's tax documents
- Mom's paperwork for AP
- payroll: exam prep

Re: White Leda Rose Wednesday @ TDD - C&C
Morning all. I bet that rose is gorgeous. One day lol. Doggedly you got that right. I'm actually kinda sad though last summer walking Casper around our loop i took pictures of fall leaves. Green. Full bloom wild roses. And I should have taken pics of the Saskatoon bushes full of flower may june and loaded with berries in August. Then they decided to do road allowance maintenance and took an ugly tree shedder through the ditches and munched that all up. It'll grow back but right now those ditches are pools of water and shedded tree fiber. Swimming pools for Casper. It's actually really loud from the sound of the creek running fuller this spring. Last year it was at mid summer dribble even in April. Dry.
Kittykat thanks for the kitchen thread suggestion. I posted a hello there. Wow she is very detailed.
I've split up my big ginormous list from sheforums here and divided the useful stuff between crafts and health and here. The rest of my list was almost out of date due to life changes and not measured goals. Ideas I should do. I'm going to have to try and work on food planning over there.
I should find the outdoors and garden section yet too. I really quite enjoy this site. The best of both worlds bringing all my friends over.
Helian that is a very busy day of productivity in lots of random things. And social. I hate it when I break things that I use all the time.
The weather is about the same here. Beautiful stretches and then it rains . Poor ds got into a downpour playing at the court after school he looked like he had a shower when I picked him up. But Beautiful spring rain that we need and no more so cold it threatens snow mix.
Anyway now I've written a novel again. Today is mine. To do what I want to do. Dh is off to work in a bit. Ds to school. I have bible study this morning. I think I'm going to have a soak when dh goes and then actually quickly do some routine try to make it better. My friend h offered to come help paint this afternoon. If I can get moving and do basics and then a first coat and she can help with second later? But I feel like I need to not go that fast. I'll do some qt and basics and see what happens. Her comic gives me a starting point and moral support. Then I really should run out and check on mom and dad if there is time.
Priority list
Basic routines
Kitchen clean
Some journal time
At least one coat paint
Bible study
Pick up a few things from store
Gas in car
Check on mom and dad
Book appointment for results
Book hair apt
Work on crochet
Today's tada list
Finish qt
Soak in tub instead of shower
S&s both baths and reboot laundry
Take sheets off bed for wash
Tidy laundry room some
Empty and reload dw
School run
