Anti-Procrastination Wednesday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

Working on this tax return might be considered as a fit task for a 9 April anti-procrastination day, but as a former tax accountant it isn't procrastination until it's October 14 and it's due tomorrow.

But that's what I'll work on, along with other things today.

What tasks have you been putting off? What could be wrapped up today?

Just found that Harriet had this quotation in the Declutter thread. I'm reposting here so it's seen more widely! Good to remember! Perhaps 15 min a day toward your anti procrastination projects is in order?
You'd be surprised at how much you can accomplish in fifteen minutes of focused work, and that does tend to accumulate quickly as the days and weeks pass.

Plus, you get the enormous added benefit of staying close to your work, so that your comfort with it grows, it begins to appear less demanding and menacing, and your mind continues to chew on the problems even as you are occupied with other things.

Large, ambitious projects can induce procrastination and guilt. By committing to a small amount of work each day, with absolutely no pressure to do more than the minimum, steady progress can be made. - Andrew Utter

I have a table cloth to hem and it was up stairs now it's down stairs. Peen putting that off.
Sun rise is happening heard an owl outside in the tree.
De-clutter kitchen is omm I"ve been putting that off.
I'll be working on it.
Desk stuff is good.

I weeded for 15 min. on the driveway not raining today so it was the perfect time.
Good for my step count too with the long handled hula hoe.
Did another round on that area might be done with it after the next round
then I'll have to pick it up.

After Lunch CI
khave moved lawn furniture in back so I can mow.
It's a nice day but we had rain last nite and still way to wet to consider mowing.

I have already dealt with the litter boxes. Dishes are getting their pre-soak in the sink. Large pot is soaking so I can get all the sticky sauce off of it easier.

Dh is out in the garage doing a tire change for a neighbour.

So today is getting the tax return either done, or to the point I'm waiting for answers or additional info.

Dh is home tonight so I took out chicken to grill. I only have a Zoom meeting scheduled. Tomorrow dcleaning lady is here, and I'm out for a mammogram, workout, then well-timed body work. So I'm justified in taking it easier today!

Parts of a.m. routine done, I usually have a late breakfast/brunch so kitchen clean up doesn't finish until after that.

Dh took out recycling last night for today's pickup.

Have been working on tax return, I'm getting there. It's stressful in part because dh is sometimes mistaken in what he tells me. He was trying to tell me that one of our pledges for 2025 was paid in 2024 (it's always paid in the same year we make the pledge, he says) and that just doesn't compute. I have to explain it to him again and he's a man who thinks he is always correct about financial things, lol.

I think my mentee forgot about our Zoom meeting today. DH came home for lunch so I came upstairs for the meeting but she hasn't signed in yet. Sent an email....I forget sometimes too. It's on the schedule but I sometimes just blow on by. I need to schedule a meeting with the coordinator of the mentors - this mentee is doing a lot in terms of "getting copies of documents" but she's not writing. That was the much bigger task for me and it helped me think through what else I might need. (Ah, emailed back and will meet with mentee on Friday instead.)

Lots of routine things accomplished this morning. HRH made lunch.

Spent a lot of time trying to report some symptoms to dr and having my message get mixed up. Hopefully the 4th call will be the charm and they'll understand me.

I'm glad that quote was interesting to you, Twins'. I think that fellow's reasoning for WHY take projects in small parts makes a lot of sense. He is an author, professor and theater director.

curious: has anyone read Faulkner? I am thinking of joining the book club with Benjamin McEvoy - I can't even do 1/4 of the books with my schedule. Is it confusing? too dark? worth the read?

Waving back, bw2! I saw in your other thread that your mom is having a good day - I hope you are also!

I'm within an inch of finishing tax return and I'm writing a cemetery check while it prints. Once it's done printing, I need to reboot laundry. I've been washing bedding except for sheets and mattress pad today - since coming home I'm noticing that it smells like a dog! And dcleaning lady will change sheets tomorrow.

After rebooting laundry I need lunch and to organize tax papers and I'll sit the tax return aside for a couple of days to rest.

And I'll have a little genealogy time. What to do first? I have over 250 notes in my Evernote inbox.

Blessed I googled and yes Faulkner is a dark and Gothic writer I'd skip that club for
now your plate is pretty full. Maybe you can find a light hearted audio book.
