Canadian-born Fay Wray was brought up in Los Angeles and entered films at an early age. She was barely in her teens when she started working as an extra. She began her career as a heroine in westerns at Universal during the silent era. In 1926 the Western Association of Motion Picture Advertisers selected 13 young starlets it deemed most likely to succeed in pictures. Fay was chosen as one of these starlets, along with Janet Gaynor and Mary Astor.
Fame would indeed come to Fay when she played another heroine in Erich von Stroheim's The Wedding March (1928). She continued playing leads in a number of films, such as the good-bad girl in Thunderbolt (1929). By the early 1930s she was at Paramount working with Gary Cooper and Jack Holt in a number of average films, such as Master of Men (1933). She also appeared in such horror films as Doctor X (1932) and The Vampire Bat (1933).
In 1933 Fay was approached by producer Merian C. Cooper, who told her that he had a part for her in a picture in which she would be working with a tall, dark leading man. What he didn't tell her was that her "tall, dark leading man" was a giant gorilla, and the picture turned out to be the classic King Kong (1933). Perhaps no one in the history of pictures could scream more dramatically than Fay, and she really put on a show in "Kong". Her character provided a combination of sex appeal, vulnerability and lung capacity as she was stalked by the giant beast all the way to the top of the Empire State Building. That was as far as Fay would rise, however, as this was, after all, just another horror movie.
After "Kong", she began a slow decline that put her into low-budget action films by the mid '30s. In 1939 her 11-year marriage to screenwriter John Monk Saunders ended in divorce, and her career was almost finished. In 1942 she remarried and retired from the screen, forever to be remembered as the "beauty who killed the beast" in "King Kong".
However, in 1953 she made a comeback, playing mature character roles, and also appeared on television as Catherine, Natalie Wood's mother, in The Pride of the Family (1953). She continued to appear in films until 1958 and television into the 1960s.

Good morning, Trissie, and thank you for starting us off. Just a quick CI as I need to be up early today. The workmen are coming at 8 am to hopefully install Dnextdoorneighbour C 's fibre internet, and I've already had the invoice from the butcher by WhatsApp this morning (yes, it's 6.30 am - they keep early hours, and I have online banking, which they understandably prefer, as it means his wife, who does the deliveries doesn't have to carry huge amounts of cash! 
), so my Easter meat box should be delivered this morning .
Last night when DH was out, I did a little paperwork, washed one of the doormats, and did a little to my dolls house. I put some wood stain on that little chair that had previously been covered in thick bright pink gloss paint.
I'll see how it looks this morning - whether it's time to give it a coat of wax to finish it off I'm currently experimenting with what originally was going to be the second bedroom - I think it possibly might now be a music room instead?
Anyway, enough ramblings, and time to get moving!

House tasks: clean gutters and the swan neck on the downpipes where "stuff" tends to accumulate, clean cladding back and front and downpipes, and short return wall as well. Replace the bit of mortar that's fallen out of the edge of the roof (I think its called the verge?) , fix dripping kitchen tap ( new washer?), sort out cabinet that wobbles, fix garage guttering that's loose at one end and bending down. More as I think of them? Texted 10/3 and 14/4
If no reply by the end of the month, then definitely look for someone else (DF PM is also starting to become exasperated with his reluctance)
Steps to take to find a replacement: ask friends, look on local sources eg Nextdoor for recommendations
I may have to split the jobs between different people this year if I can't find someone who's good at a variety of skills, so:
For gutter cleaning, Dneighbours R and A used Ben's gutters -are they pleased with the work? Does BG also clean cladding? Do they have a website? Yes
Also The E Gutter Cleaners -they have good reviews
Prepare my "job spec" WIP
Fill in free quote forms for both the above companies
Wait and see the results!
Kitchen tap - DF E has given me the phone number if her plumber . I think DF CW also has a plumber she is happy with?
Garage gutter - probably a handyman needed here - Text /message a few likely candidates and see what happens. Does Dneighbour R2 do handyman type jobs? I know he's done work for Dneighbour R in the past, but that was larger jobs, like laying a path!

Change health centres to the one nearest us? On hold ATM , but I'll leave it on my list so I don't forget.

It's nearly 9 am, and so far the workmen are purely imaginary (they were supposed to be here at 8). To add to the neighbourhood chaos, a Royal Mail delivery van has broken down in the road. 
He's been joined by another van, presumably for solidarity, 
and the RAC have now turned up, to hopefully fix it. The bonnet is up, and everyone is gathered round, peering into the depths. At least, it's not raining. Yet.
But, I'm up, showered and dressed, Freddie has been walked and I've had some time in my front garden (I wanted to get all this done before anyone arrived, so Freddie isn't spooked by all the noise and strange people, and I'm not underfoot.) I've also painted another coat of wood stain on that little chair.
Going to have breakfast next, then I think I'll do a little to my dolls house and maybe make a start on the kitchen while I wait for the butcher's wife. I need to be at the front of the house, so I don't keep her waiting!

10 am update - the butcher has delivered our Easter meat box, so now I need to put it all in the fridge for now, out of Freddie's way! 
I'll find room in the freezer later.
The workmen are still imaginary (fortunately they are not working on my house, but I do feel for Dnextdoorneighbour C -she has waited so long for her fibre internet!)
I think I'm going to do some housework next. It would be a nice day for a walk, but I really need to be around the house today.
Update: 11 am, one man from Openreach arrived, expecting to do the indoor part of the connection for Dnextdoorneighbour C. Long story short, she is not getting her fibre internet today, and is understandably Not Happy. Fortunately I was around, as she has said she wants a witness to all these discussions. I did point out that as two fibre installs have been made already in our bit of the road (ours and DF CW's) , surely it should be reasonably straightforward to do the third? Apparently not.
One interesting thing I did find out today, is that the back office at Openreach, and their computer system, firmly believes we still have telegraph poles, rather than all the services running underground. (Really??!!! And its been more than three years since our fibre internet was installed! 
This is bringing incompetence to a new level.)
It's now started raining, and is decidedly chilly, so I'm going to have an indoor day for the rest of today. DH is going straight from work to the performance by his Amateur dramatic society - he's not in the show, but will be running the bat for the next two nights. Which means I should now had a good uninterrupted expanse of time to get things done round the house. As I want to clean the kitchen later, I've decided to have my main meal midday, so have put a potato in the oven to bake in its jacket. I'll have that with grated cheese and a green salad.

House tasks: clean gutters and the swan neck on the downpipes where "stuff" tends to accumulate, clean cladding back and front and downpipes, and short return wall as well. Replace the bit of mortar that's fallen out of the edge of the roof (I think its called the verge?) , fix dripping kitchen tap ( new washer?), sort out cabinet that wobbles, fix garage guttering that's loose at one end and bending down. Steps to take to find a replacement: ask friends, look on local sources eg Nextdoor for recommendations
I may have to split the jobs between different people this year if I can't find someone who's good at a variety of skills, so:
For gutter cleaning, Dneighbours R and A used Ben's gutters -are they pleased with the work? Does BG also clean cladding? Do they have a website? Yes
Also The E Gutter Cleaners -they have good reviews

Garage gutter - probably a handyman needed here - Text /message a few likely candidates and see what happens. Does Dneighbour R2 do handyman type jobs? I know he's done work for Dneighbour R in the past, but that was larger jobs, like laying a path!

I've finally got upstairs looking respectable, although I spent far too long on the BBC news site, following the Supreme Court ruling on the definition of a woman, which was released today. (Yes, really!) I'll just say I think common sense has finally prevailed, but I don't even want to think about how much this has all cost.
Just checked my potato in the oven -I think I have time to run the hoover round the sitting room before lunch.
