Good Friday is when we specifically remember the suffering and death of Jesus.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Good_Friday

Traditionally many UK Anglican churches would have a three hour service to remember Jesus suffering and death on the cross, but that isn't so common nowadays. My church will be having three hours of prayer, mediation, readings and a hymn every hour, but the idea is you come and go as you are able.

Good morning, everyone! I hope that those of your who keep Good Friday are able to mark it in a meaningful way. Our church is having an Easter egg hunt in the church this morning (designed to attract children and their families) and a Good Friday meditation this afternoon , where people can come and go as they please - you're not expected to stay for the whole three hours, although, of course, one is welcome to do so!

Helian, so glad your DMum has arrived safely. It's going to be sooo much easier.for you know to visit her and check on her care.

Kitkat -LOL! I expect though that your DPup doesn't hiss and growl when he finds scents that offend him!

Gma, I'm glad you're able to see the specialist vet with DDog so quickly. It's also very fortunate that you have such good medical knowledge.

Laura , how wonderful that DD and DDIL will soon be with you.

I didn't get much done yesterday evening, just my supper, the kitties' supper, kitchen clear up afterwards, and then time waxing the little chair for my dolls house. Oh, and I brought up a box of Freddie's wet food from the garage, so that's the most important thing taken care of. :D Matilda was very naughtly last night and refused to come up to bed, preferring to run round the house. So I just left her tonite and went to bed. Sure enough, a couple of hours later, there were pitiful meows and scratching at the bedroom door. When I let her in she headed straight for her food bowl!

Today, I need to do those admin tasks I didn't do yesterday. (Almost certainly nothing will be viewed until Tuesday, but that's ok, it would still be good to have them out the way.) It is currently raining, and is supposed to rain all day  so it would be a good opportunity to work on indoor tasks today. DH is still snoring, and I've given Jude (who also spend the night in the bed!) and Matilda some biscuit, so they are now quiescent. Not sure if DH"S plans for today, he's off work as it's Good Friday, so maybe I can send him out for some hot cross buns. :For those who haven't come across them before, A hot cross bun is a spiced bun, usually containing small pieces of raisins and marked with a cross on the top, which has been traditionally eaten on Good Friday . It is usually heated either under the grill in the toaster, and then spread with butter - delicious!

So far, today has been a slow but productive start. I haven't got up yet, but I'm on my second cup of tea, and I've successfully dealt with three pieces of admin. :D Jude is snuggled up beside me, so is very happy!

Still not sure what DH has planned for today, but I need to get up and at 'em!

Good morning, L.Ann! I hope the appointment goes well, and you enjoy your tulips. Are they cut flowers, or in pots?

DH left a couple of hours ago to "quickly" help out with getting the bar sorted out for tonight's performance. Still no sign of him. But I've made progress in his absence, three LOL done , and downstairs PUPA, quickly dusted and quickly hoovered.

Freddie also decided he *must* have his walk, so I put my raincoat and outdoor shoes on, out Freddie's harness on and we went out into the rain. We made it to the end of the path before Freddie decided he had had enough, did an abrupt about turn and headed for home.

It's lunchtime but no sign of DH. Ideally I would like the car to go to our chat this afternoon, but if he's not back, I can walk down the hill to the parish church (check time of their service!) But before that, I need to come something upstairs, even if it's just cold the laundry that washed overnight.

You certainly have made progress Kitty. And Fred is a smart cat. :D

I've had some qt and coffee and I'm now working on a cup of tea. I'm planning to do a bit of deskwork stuff this a.m. and then leave around 10 a.m. to visit Mom and bring her some Ensures. If she won't eat, maybe she would at least drink Ensure. She got 1/ day at the other nursing home. (Protein/ nutritional drink) Then, I'll go to payroll to grade the final exams and prep for class. Not much prep to do; it's the last day of the session and some students don't bother to attend, especially young Arab men, which is the majority of my current class. The teachers traditionally play language games with the students, often pooling their tiny classes together.

Dd29 is inviting 2 more friends to Easter dinner, so we're up to 13. I have done nothing to prep and won't have time to even think about it until tomorrow. BUT we've decided to be super chill this year. I think dh will do lamb. The girls are planning to pick up GF Asian food, and we will throw some frozen pizzas into the mix. I had told everyone that I didn't have the bandwidth to coordinate a big holiday meal this year, and this is the alternate plan everyone came up with.

Our forecast high today is 77*F (25*C). 🏖️
