Re: Fujara Friday @ TDD - C&C
Traditionally used by shepherds for recreational purposes, this unique wind instrument from central Slovakia belongs to the tabor pipe class and is known for its distinctive contrabass sound.
Crafted from elderberry wood, the fujara presents a unique design that has moved from the shepherd’s fields to folk festivals in Slovak towns such as Východná and Detva.
It has also gained some international traction in Western Europe and North America. But despite this, the instrument remains relatively unknown outside of Slovakia.
In recognition of its cultural significance, the fujara was included in the UNESCO List of Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2005.
To play this instrument, you blow into a fipple: a technique that requires careful breath control.

Re: Fujara Friday @ TDD - C&C
Happy Friday!
This has been A WEEK! I have been doing two hours of overtime each day, which is kinda sad, considering I opted for working (and being paid for) 6 hour days because I want to have more time for my family! The little birds sing I should actually be getting a bonus (about 2 weeks pay) for all that extra work, but I think I'd rather have the time. I did, however, asked to have next Friday (Thursday is bank holiday and we have a trip booked for the four day weekend) off in compensation hours instead of PTO and the request was approved, so there's that.
Working from home today. Totally plan to take it easy and not try to cram in those 6 hours!
It's cold and wet outside, so no gardening, but if I can start the weekend with a clean house and some of those pesky organizational tasks out of the way, it would be helpful, as the forecast is better for tomorrow and Sunday.

Re: Fujara Friday @ TDD - C&C
Good morning Trissie and thank you for starting us off. WTG for surviving this week! And how nice you have a long weekend next weekend.
Gma, such good news about DDog - it must be a *huge* relief!
Bama, I'm glad Tux is going well - 17 is a good age. BTDT with a previous cat with refusing to eat the renal food (sigh!) . I think the important thing is that they eat and stay hydrated. There's a new hydration supplement available to encourage hydration -a kind of jelly that you put in a bowl next to the water bowl (I think it's by Purina Pro Plan?) which might help with Tux's hydration levels - assuming, of course, that he finds it acceptable!
Yes, Freddie in is my oldest, Jude will be 7 in September, and Matilda 4 in July.
Today is going to be busy again, with a morning in town, but I'm hoping for at least some of the afternoon in my garden. I also need to start potting up all those geraniums! But that can be done a few at a time. And I would like to power wash the car, but that might be too ambitious. Maybe tomorrow? (I'm going SR a lift to the meal tomorrow evening, so ideally would like a clean car, but at least the inside is clean!)

Re: Fujara Friday @ TDD - C&C
Things to remember today:
10 am hair cut
While I'm in town:
Boots the chemist - Soltan factor 50 spray
Lakeland: baking parchment, foil, clingfilm
M&S - underwear for me
TEXT SW RE PARISH LUNCH (I need to let her know how much everyone enjoyed the community café yesterday )
Tasks for the afternoon:
Garden time? (Weather dependant!)
Can I power wash the car? Possibly leave until Saturday? I really, really want to spend time in the garden as a priority
To be continued...

Re: Fujara Friday @ TDD - C&C
trissie, I'm glad you're at least getting compensated for all the extra hours. Yay! It's the weekend for you! That is interesting about the fujara. I'll have to look it up later.
Kitty, how do you like your haircut?
Ooh - I see Gma got good news re: the dog!
I'm feeling a bit concerned about Mom. She had one amazing day, Monday, and since then has been very sleepy and not very responsive. She's supposed to be getting antibiotic eye drops for her eye infection, but her eye looked worse yesterday than before. I'm not sure she's getting them. And I haven't heard results re: the UTI test. How long does that take? I'd like to ask questions, but I've already been very present and I don't want to be THAT helicopter-y overbearing presence at the nursing home. I might send an email with questions today -- or call the nurse and ask questions.
Today, I have counseling appt. 12-1 and then payroll class 1:30 - 3:30. I still need to put clean sheets on the bed. I exercised a lot (for me) yesterday, so maybe just a walk today - would have to be this morning or around the track at the gym after payroll bc we've got a lot of rain in the forecast for this afternoon. I'm hoping to jog the weekly 5K tomorrow morning.
I did most of my prep for AAS D2 yesterday. Will tweak the slides a bit and figure out the HW. I still need to finish up my end of session tasks from last session.
And get started on GGT.
Next:
- some qt
- back exercises
- s2s and self care
Later:
- reclaim kitchen
- strip MBR bed
- remake MBR bed with clean sheets
- laundry: sheets, towels
- payroll: tweak lesson, figure out HW1
- payroll: finish end of session tasks
- payroll: start GGT
- lunch
- walk
- 12-1 counseling
- gather stuff; otd @ 1:10
- find parking in garage
- 1:30 - 3:30 payroll: teach AAS D2
- email/ call NH re: eye drops for Mom
- email Dr. re: UTI test results - when?
- send in reim. for transport costs

Morning Everyone. Enjoy your weekend Trissie! I don’t think your DM’s sleeping is necessarily a big deal given the move, helian. I also think it is fine to ask medical questions. You might check when they will call you about medical things. They call a lot from my mom’s and are really good about letting me know about a problem but they don’t always do follow up calls.

Re: Fujara Friday @ TDD - C&C
Morning all. That's a relief for the dog gma.
Kittykat busy day again.
Trissie yikes on all that overtime. That's a lot. At least you have a long weekend to look from to.
Helian I hope you can sort out your mom's situation better. It's hard to balance. And easier to notice now she's closer.
I need to get up and do something. Add a couple things to my routine. But first thing do some research the bottles might even tell me when is best to take supplements. General straighten and get ready for work. Plus decide supper. I think ds and ddil are coming for supper. Now there's not so many extra people.
Priority list
Figure out times for supplements
Decide supper
Maybe work earlier with dh if I can get organized
Baby time tonight
Today's tada list
Read bottles and maybe Google Decide timing and actually start
Shower
S&s both baths
Finish putting ds laundry away if he's up
General straighten
Finish getting ready for work
Maybe go with dh so I can be done early

Re: Fujara Friday @ TDD - C&C
helian, I think your mom has had a very demanding week and now she needs to recuperate - so I would't be worried about the sleepiness, but definitely would inquire about the medical issues when you speak with the staff!
what colors of tulips did you get today, L.Ann?
lauralind, thanks for reminding I need to get better about taking my supplements!
