Focused Friday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

Focus today on what's important! What ever is important today, direct and develop your focus to hone in on that task, person, event. Some thoughts on Focus from James Clear, the Atomic Habits author at https://jamesclear.com/focus
What is Focus?
In order to concentrate on one thing you must, by default, ignore many other things.

Here’s a better way to put it:

Focus can only occur when we have said yes to one option and no to all other options. In other words, elimination is a prerequisite for focus. As Tim Ferriss says, “What you don’t do determines what you can do.”
I direct your attention to the OBE events happening regularly in my household,

Dh hasn't been working on Fridays but he's going to the office for awhile today. Something about someone wanting to invest some money. He's a financial advisor. He felt he couldn't turn down meeting with this guy today. And he's going to Costco today also, that will keep him busy for awhile!

I need to get started with wrapping up what I need to do and packing for real. Tomorrow we are going to the matinee performance of "Hamilton" here, followed by dinner out with A and V. I always have lots of little things OMM that I'd like to knock off before leaving town and those keep dive bombing my brain. Trying to screen out what's important and what's not reasonable.

When I was making a list of Friday's tasks and Saturday's tasks yesterday it looked like rain today. Now it looks like the a.m. will be rain-free so I should go to the car wash and clean out the inside of my car; I had that slated for tomorrow a.m. but better to get it done sooner than later...Also a Goodwill drop off from the garage clean out last weekend.

So I need to get that second cup of coffee and get going. Focus on getting packed, doing the things that need to be done before we're away for a week.

Thanks for the awesome start today Twins' Mom!!

Dh had a rough night. He spent some time on the couch. He even passed on having a coffee as soon as he got up. He changed his mind after an hour or so. He's got a blanket wrapped around himself right now. He has had a couple of Tylenols, but doesn't want any other medication. He also said he's staying home today.

I have dishes in the sink that need to go into the dishwasher. No idea what is for supper tonight. Maybe soup for dh depending on how he's feeling.

Waving …I am still very sick so not going anywhere. Had a rough night and was up at 1:30. Read for a while and then dozed.

Moved to the couch at 6 and haven’t moved. Whe I cough I sound like a fog horn and I now have a very deep voice 😉

Not fun… hoping I’ll be better for my trip next Thursday. Fingers crossed.

Dh is in bed sleeping.

I have filled the dishwasher and it's going.
I moved last night's laundry to the dryer and it's going.
I cleaned the ceiling in the bathroom with vinegar. We tend to get a couple of spots every once in a while, so I use straight vinegar to kill the mold spores.

While I was in there, I did the shower and tub and now it's all shiny again. I also wiped the top of the light fixture above the sink. I guess you could say I stayed focused in the bathroom today.

Back hall got swept. I also mopped the living room.

I've been reading a lot of stuff on FBook this morning and I'm trying to pull myself away from that.

Wow. I hope those with illnesses will be on the way to recovery after rest today.

Well, I was not focusing on the fact I had a haircut this a.m. at 10:30. I checked with her right at 10:30 and she could still do it if I got there in 15 min so she was able to still cut and style. All ended up well.

I'm eating a wrap (hadn't had brunch when I went out earlier) and then will head out again.
-return at UPS store
-Goodwill drop off
-wash and clean inside of the car
-stop at pool and put the annual license up
-stop at a neighbors and drop off a reimbursement ck and bottle of whiskey as thanks for fixing toilet and installing a water fountain at the pool.

Dh is on his way to Costco so I sent the list to him.

And I'm off again. Focused. I have a list.

I did a full round of errands, culminating with cleaning the car up. The big rubber mats were pressure washed but still don't look great. They're drying on the driveway and we'll live with it. For an eight year old car it looks fine. And we'll get sand in it anyway this next week.

I did not gas up the car. I needed a bathroom after cleaning car up, so headed home. That's what I get for taking tumbler of water with me.

Did a few unscheduled errands - Lowes for zinnia seeds and gallon jugs 409 and Windex. I just refill my more decorative bottles that I've labeled with the label maker. Also stopped at bank and exchanged two rolls of quarters (in car in case of tolls or needing change on Richmond trip) for $20. I'm going to turn the pool permit over to the pool chairperson because the plexiglass thing that held it has broken. I'll let her replace it and put it up before the pool opens.

Whoops, Weather channel alert that we're about to get rain - mats were dry enough and are back in car.

I am in okay shape here. Still things on my list but I'm going to nap for a little while.

LadyM, so sorry that dh is having memory issues, especially now that dkids are well. I hope he returns to normal quickly. And RR still sick (hope that steroids fire you back up) and Cathy's Dh ill as well. Seems like there's a lot going around. RR has doc suggested "washing" sinuses?

I have made out my April / May goals list it's 2 pages long!
[My planner has them together on this week & next.]
If I did 2-3 things a day I could do it but ...
probably not realistic.
But some things I did today already.

Got the trash out, wagon is empty now.
The side yard border mowed off, it needs a bit more trimming however.
Knit a bit found a boo boo had to rip out aka frog 1-2" so re- knitting is about to commence
but I did get it back on the needles corrected.

-----

I did get to the side yard border trimming & clean up after that.
Watered also.
Had to rip out even more after re-knitting that so it got unknit again and I am reknitting from an
earlier starting point. Got that re-knit before going to bed yea!
The allergies sinus stuff has me off my game a bit today.
