Gma, I'm so glad the dog is treatable and Kitty is right - you're a very competent knowledgeable person to take care of her.
Kitty, when we went to Wales/ the UK, we always had a designated navigator in the car, usually dd26 if she was available. Those small roads/ lanes were something else. . . But very scenic as well!
Wow, you really do need to be prepared and ready for your town's dangerous waste collection, trissie. We had a gooseberry plant in our yard when we lived in New Zealand, but I don't think I've eaten it since then.
That sounds so frustrating for Mr. NG, FFB. Hoping something good will turn up for him. What are you making with the rhubarb?

Thank you for your patience and encouragement Gma, L Ann, Kitty -- and others. I need to get used to this new facility; it's not skilled nursing like the last one was, but it's more focused on the social-emotional-mental needs of the residents, which I think is good for Mom. They evaluated her and said her physical needs were within their scope of care capacity. I'm still getting used to them, and they're probably getting used to Mom -- and me.

The Dr. is incredibly responsive, which is wonderful. She's actually a PA, but that is fine for the things Mom needs at the moment. She checked on the eye drops, which should have arrived at the NH on Thursday, and the UTI test was not back as of yesterday. *sigh* Hopefully, Mom doesn't have one/ is not too uncomfortable if she does have one. I will go visit her in about an hour - after I shower. My hair is sticking out at odd angles; otherwise I'd skip the shower before the visit.

Dd29 got a really nice scholarship with her acceptance to grad school. That is nice for her since she doesn't have a super high-paying job, and the Big U is pretty expensive.

Today, these are the things I'd like to do: visit Mom, stop by Walgreens, go for a jog (I skipped the weekly morning 5K), tackle my clothes that are all over the MBR right now, put clean sheets on the MBR bed, do laundry, work on payroll - GGT, and go to a retirement party this evening. Not sure if we'll go early, around 5 pm, or late, around 7 pm.

CG2 tomorrow is cancelled, which makes tomorrow less scheduled.

Frenchie I hope mrng will find something suitable. I can see not wanting to settle for just anything at this stage. Enjoy your Saturday. You're reminding me I want to get a new rhubarb plant. Before we sell them all. Just got to decide where to put it.

Trissie I am sure you will get to the garden store in good time.

Thanks for the tips for Casper. I think it will be fine. He's seen him a few times. He did pretty well yesterday mostly he is just so excitable. I kept him tied where he could reach but not able to jump up. For a bit and then I took him to the kitchen with me. He calmed over there and laid down. Then it's good.

Sounds like a great arrangement for your mom Helian. I bet the more social work will be good for her once she's settled .

What I couldn't get over is lucky the kitty. She really took to baby. Paws up on my lap while I was holding him and he was fussing. She was intrigued. What is this little guy. It was so cute.


I am still deciding what I should focus on today. The house isn't too bad due to company last weekend. Basic routines will keep it in check but the living room is needing a thorough cleaning. I could work on some of my craft projects. I have some minor shelving things to paint. Shelves that need to go up. But I also need to start cleaning up outside. Raking Casper territory and deciding what I want to do with garden stuff. And I promised dad I would watch mom for a bit this morning. Probably have to run through routines there too.

I need a find my energy though . Dh just brought my b12 and talked some sense into my head. I was making it more complicated than it needed to be. Backwards. The iron is a powder that I can mix with drink or food. Supposed to be a couple hours separate from anything else I take. Supper is my only consistent meal. So mix it with supper and take b12 in the morning. Ok I can do that. I need him to help me break my resistance to making new habits.

He's going to work in a bit and then I'm going to have a soak and start with my routine. Call dad at 8 if he doesn't first. See what is happening there. Do some routine and then go there and do it all over again. Unless he decides he started bring her here. Then I can bake something with her watching and helping? Maybe...

Trissie, I understand -- it's so easy for a "quick run" to the garden centre to turn into a two hour marathon!

Congratulations to DD, Helian! I think it's going to take a little while for your DMum to settle and really feel at home, but it's going to be so nice for her to have you visiting more often, even if sometimes it's just for a quick 20 minutes or so, and from the sound of things, her quality of life is going to improve.

I discovered that I still hadn't put the covers back on the scatter cushions, so they were there waiting for me today. For some reason, it takes *much* longer to get them back itn and nicely plumped up, than to take them off! Anyway, they're all back in place now, the stray feathers picked up and the sitting room looks tidy.

It's brightened up nicely, so I'm going out in the garden now, while the washing machine does its thing on the cleaning cycle (another monthly task to tick off!)

I checked my own veggie garden and the rhubarb is big enough for me to cut two stalks and make a rhubarb cake

Also checked the news and I gotta say Mr. President Zelenkyy has some really, really creative stylists, because the way they handled the dress code for the Pope funeral - a black suit - and yet kept true to his military style that he swore to wear till the end of the war, is admirable! There were some others, though, who apparently did not bother to read the memo. Our country was represented by the prime minister; the president attended the mass in the Prague cathedral. I did check and he did look fabulous in his black suit with white shirt and black tie! After our previous president, who finished the office in a state that would better be suited to a medical facility than to a state function (adult diapers and high state function do NOT go together), it's such a joy to look at Mr. President Pavel and see someone who looks and acts like a head of state!

Morning Everyone! It is raining….. more of a light rain or steady drizzle that is interfering with our plans to attend the Earth Day event. We are hoping it will end in an hour or so as I don’t want to take DD32 out to spend the day getting wet since she still has the cough. We dropped off the used medication syringes and paper for shredding at that community event. I am not sure what the difference was between this one and other events but the line was long and it moved like molasses.

I was woken by a very unpleasant odor this morning (huge dog accident) and don’t want to deal with any more so I will spend the afternoon working outside. Being lazy right now while dh takes my car in for service and is bringing home lunch.
LAnn, hope the rain doesn’t spoil your plans. I love Earth day and all of the other various celebrations in spring. Seems like every organization here is having some sort of event the first weekend in May.
Trissie, is there any repercussion for missing a day of school? Here it’s usually acceptable but prior notice preferred or a sick note.
Laura, sounds like pet time is going well.
Kittykatt, thanks for the start and an instrument I actually know. I do wish pet meds were more tasty. We have multiple cats but they all hide when we have company so nobody knows how many we have unless they sit awhile and then cats start appearing one by one to study them lol.
Helia, congratulations to dd! Sending mojo for all of your list to get done. Is there a drug store test you could use for dmom to put your mind at ease while you wait. Nothing seems to get done on the weekend.

I found an image, and your president does look very statesmanly, trissie.
I take iron twice a week, Lauralind. I'm wondering if the Dr. will put Mom on iron since one of her diagnoses was "anemia". Yet she wasn't taking iron pills -- but maybe iron pills don't help some sorts of anemia. I had no idea she had that diagnosis.
L Ann, nice that you'll get to walk with a friend tomorrow!

Ddil F, who is a therapist, told me that transition time can take 3 weeks - 3 months. I need to be patient with the facility, Mom, and myself.

Mom was showered yesterday, and they've started her eye drops, so her eyes look better. She opened them a bit more than last time. Maybe they were sore? No words - but some nodding.
