Sicilian orange salad, known in Italian as insalata di arance, is a typical salad dish of the Spanish and Sicilian cuisine, which uses oranges as its main ingredient. It is usually served at the beginning or at the end of a meal.

In its most basic form the salad consists of thin, tart orange slices served with olive oil, salt, and black pepper. The slightly tart taste of a salad, which is usually achieved by using a vinaigrette, is instead provided by the orange slices themselves.

Common variations mix the orange slices with a few additional ingredients such as sliced fennel bulbs, onions, and black olives.[1] In such cases often a vinaigrette is added as well, which is made with olive oil, white wine vinegar, salt, pepper, and various herbs, e.g. rosemary.

Still here <3 lol

I kinda struggle to find my footing. But I already see benefits from being back at least at the sidelines.

I've spent at least 30 minutes each day in my garden, especially the berry patch. By now, I relocated every bush, tied them up to poles yesterday, and pulled oh so many weeds, cut back some trees that where overshadowing a lot. Today I'll give each bush a little heaping of bark mulch to keep the moisture in the soil and reek everthing. I need to think about planting a ground cover, thinking micro clover under red currant and blueberry, but something else is needed for the raspberries.

Started to wash the winter clothes, they'll dry like a charm outside today. Need to pick up vacuum bags to store them in the attic until September and then finally sell them ( most is outgrown tbh).

Today I need to focus on my kitchen, it got a little neglected the last days.

Another win : Thanks to the paper tiger day: I finished my application thing and I filed our taxes for 2024 (early !!), two major things off my chest and I resurrected my special folder. Something like the thing the flylady recommends. It has pockets and I designated one to the papers I need for the next application in July and January, one for the taxes of 2025, one for incoming bills to pay ... I created lists a million years ago about things that need to get paid, things on autopay and when they are due and all that I really want to update. I found the planning for a pantry/closet space I want to create and stored it there. I want to print a calender and take notes when to do what in my garden, cause I don't think in the right cycles. Like, I want many crocusses, but I want them in March and therefor I never plant them during fall cause I'll forget lol.

Okay, so my washer is already doing it's thing.
So I want/need for today :
o laundry o winter clothes #3 o kitchen towels o white/hot o lol warm
o reboot laundry ?
o kitchen o unload/reload DW o pots and pans o clear kitchen island o clear right of sink o declutter bread storage area
o 30 minutes of Mt. Foldmore o o o
o paper trash ( will be picked up tommorrow ?)
o berry patch o reek o mulch
o rhubarb !!
o bake : o bread (yeast) o muffins (SD DC rasperry) o cake ? or rhubarb crumble
o lemonade !!
o Wireless stick think for DS12 !!!

Uhm, I think I should stop listing things and get to work ? Ooopsie !!

Featherball, nice to see you, nice to read you're dealing with your paper tiger with success. You make me want to eat rhubarb. Do you grow it on your garden? Oh, thanks for the reminder about washing winter clothes. I should do that too, we should have nice weather in a few days.

kittykatt, thanks for the start, have a good time at church ! Thnaks for the "Peace parties" info. Interesting to note that men would be allowed to drink beer when women were limited to tea (not that I would like to drink beer myself, but it seems unfair).

It was a pleasure to read great news about your DM, helia !

Quiet Sunday morning. We had our family movie night yesterday, we watched Leo, an animated movie about Leonardo da Vinci, but a bit disappointed that we didn't learn more about his whole life, only the end of his life when he left Italy for France. Pretty poetical story, though.
Today's main duties should be homework, some decluttering (I hope), catching-up on house chores (not too much I hope), and also enjoy quiet.

TADAs
read news while in bed, felt a bit depressed about the state of the world
talked with MrNG about to-dos, worries, tasks - poor guy, I used him as a brain-dump
up, tea and toast

TODO
walk 2.5 kms to fishmonger for some fresh fish for lunch? with one or two kid(s)
things I want to do
things I need to do

We walked, a good speed in spite of DS6 coming along. It's actually 3.6 kms to get there and back. No rain, and we spent 10 minutes at a small park that is on the way, with sheep all around who are supposed to help keep the grass short.
MrNG will cook rice, he made a ratatouille while we were away, so we should have a tasty lunch. And after that I have to somehow motivate the kids to do their homework

TADAs
walked 3.6 kms to fishmonger for some fresh fish
enjoyed the walk
fish in the oven

TODO
homework with kids
things I want to do
things I need to do
online banking thing
work on letter to DF J-- that I started weeks ago ?

Progress !

Hi FFB glad your day is going good - hope it stays quiet and enjoyable.
It's my own rhubarb growing half wide in the garden. I planted bunches of stuff throughout the years and totally neglected it. I just found some very resistent strawberries just yesterday lol.

We're gonna head out to my MIL - well , life is what happens while you made plans, and I'm in for a nice relaxing afternoon, so no complaints.

AAAAANNND: My berry patch is done, I want to water it with buttermilk today (fertilazation and pest control, we got mice there) and I need to figure out how/where to buy clover seeds, but : it's soo pretty !!

o laundry o winter clothes #3 o kitchen towels o white/hot o lol warm
o reboot laundry ?
o kitchen o unload/reload DW o pots and pans o clear kitchen island o clear right of sink o declutter bread storage area
o 30 minutes of Mt. Foldmore o o o
o paper trash ( will be picked up tommorrow ?) no pick up
o berry patch o reek o mulch
o rhubarb !!
o bake : o bread (yeast) o muffins (SD DC rasperry) o cake ? or rhubarb crumble
o lemonade !!
o Wireless stick think for DS12 !!!

Work in progress....

Oh, Edit to add : had a mother's day breakfast: My family made pancakes for breakfast ( unusual in Germany!!) I loved it, but I got kicked out of the kitchen and therefore : no progress there yet lol

Enjoy the church service and lunch with E afterward, Kitty! I may have had that salad before.
Wow WTG with that paperwork and the berry patch, Feathers! You're making lots of headway!
I limit news intake, FFB. I read something a couple days ago that made me feel a little ill. Did you get fresh fish? It is so nice that MrNG cooks regularly!

Happy Mothers Day to all who celebrate!

Yesterday, I was not productive at all, beyond 1 lol. I did sit with my mom for a while. Dh and I enjoyed a nice meal out + a little walk around downtown in the evening.

Today, I do need to be more productive. We are playing hooky from church this morning because the girls want to have a special Mother's Day brunch with us -- and the only way we can do that with our schedule (hosting CG2 3:30 - 5:30 and then hosting dinner 5:30 - ?, dh's run, my visit with Mom and hopefully a jog) is to skip church. I also need to pay a couple snail mail bills, move Mom's appointment on Tuesday (I need more time to figure out transportation), finish laundry, spiff the house before CG2, and a WF run and/ or Kroger order.

The weather is beautiful today, sunny and a high of 71*F.

Next:
- back exercises
- s2s and self care
- reclaim kitchen

Later:
- make the bed
- load of darks: fold and p/a
- gather things for Mom and otd ~ 10 a.m.
- visit Mom
- 11:15 brunch with the girls and dh
- snail mail bills
- change to jog
- jog
- spiff main bathroom
- tidy living areas
- 3:30 - 5:30 host CG2

- after dinner clean up
- duo
- update health apps
- payroll: start prep for AAS D9
- payroll: start exam prep
- can dh help me order shelves for Mom's room? (She needs more storage space.)

Hi, all! Happy Mothers Day!

Thank you for starting us off, kittykatt. That Sicilian Orange salad looks delicious. Enjoy church and coffee.

You have made great progress, in your garden, featherball. That is hard work.

FrenchFly, being able to walk to buy fish caught today is lovely fantasy where I am, like something out of a book. Should I admit that I don't know how to cook a real fish? I grew up on triangle fish and rectangle fish.

Another busy day for you, helia. Enjoy your Mothers Day brunch!

I have laundry that I must do and errands that I want to do, so the plan is to get on with laundry early while others are out enjoying this beautiful day, and then see how many of my errands I can fit in.
