Mothers Day Sunday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

Sometimes our memories of mothers aren't so great, if so, big hugs are offered today, when the world is determined to celebrate mothers.

We all have mothers and many of us are mothers and grandmothers, so today is a day to celebrate us!

Good morning

Twins - Thank you for the start and reminding us of this Mother's Day. It certainly can be a bittersweet day for many. I am raising my daughter's children. I honor and celebrate all the mother's today.

We did not attend church this morning because DH wasn't aware it was Sunday and stayed in his PJ's until 9am. I didn't tell him because he was enjoying the morning. We will attend evening services tonight.

RR - where OH Where are you?

Wow, Nancy, great grandmother!

My kids are here this a.m. and dd is making a quiche for us. Probably making a mess in our kitchen, lol, but that's all ok with me.

---------

And later, we had brunch and watched a movie together. Ds has gone home, we may watch another movie here.

Used the collapsible walking pole I got myself.
Had a good long talk with my dsis.
I see the clouds have parted and the day is nicer now with sun out.

-----
Dson brought my 3' tall tomato and a smaller one of cherry toms.
I have em watered and planted.
Moved some lattice for a barrier so dogs with hopefully steps fence fighting.
I also put up a broken wheel burrow as a barrier that cannot be seen through.
Watered my other plants & the beds.

Might get some rain so I held off on watering the grass.
Having a good day.
Dd called again.
Napped.
3 days of rain coming for us.
It is finally raining.

Dh has gone to Lowes, he's getting light bulbs and going to get the soil for my raised beds I think. I think we're foraging in the refrigerator for our dinner. There's stuff for sandwiches, there's chili, there's one brat, there's buns for brats or burgers and we have the frozen already cooked burgers in the freezer (Costco) that just go into the microwave.

I'll take dd to the airport around 8:30 in the morning. I have a workout tomorrow and a meeting at the neighborhood "cabana" at the pool at 6:30.

We are having a relaxed day here. Well, as relaxed as it can be with 3 teenagers in the house.

DH and I went on a ride to get drinks this afternoon. The Odyssey is starting to grow on me. I'm still not thrilled to be a minivan person but I have to admit the design of it seems perfect for our needs. It handled 6 teenagers on Friday and 4 teenagers yesterday, better than the suv did. As an older person it seems like a good idea to not need to take 2 steps up to get into a vehicle. I never had a problem taking those 2 steps up to get into the suv, but now that it isn't necessary it just seems easier. I've never had a vehicle with sliding doors and didn't know how handy they are to open remotely. Hum....I might be coming around and accepting that I like being a minivan person. It is now a fact of my life so I might as well get on board with it.

I just realized evening church services are cancelled because of being Mother's Day.

I spent most of the day on the edge of tears. I tried to post earlier and finally broke down into a non-stop river of tears. Dh and I did call his mom this morning. She got the cards and the gift card.

I feel like I've spent the entire weekend on FBook. Dh and I did a couple of things outside today. I wiped the 2 glass table tops. I also planted catnip in a wine barrel planter cut in half. I'm sure all 3 cats will enjoy it. The other half barrel planter is going to have kitchen stuff in it this year. I'm going to try to get some chives to root, so I can move that into the new spot. I also want to do rosemary for dh and maybe oregano. The basil will go in with the tomatoes this year. I can't believe it's only a week until the Victoria Day long weekend.

I got a bunch of clean laundry put away and there is still one load waiting to be dried.

I also did some pots and pans and large utensils. One litter box got cleaned earlier. I need to do the other before I go to bed.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

DS16 and GF went to the grocery store to purchase ingredients and then use them to cook a meal. We have an abundance of food available, but they were eager to challenge themselves, so I agreed to it. DS16 called from the grocery store to discuss selection. I vetoed them buying/cooking steaks (again) and redirected them toward the other selections of meat. They cooked cheeseburgers and made spaghetti. They are becoming more proficient in planning, buying and preparing meals as they continue to practice.

DD13 and I are back from our evening walk. These walks are always filled with nonstop chatter. Some subjects we are in agreement and other subjects we agree to disagree. I enjoy listening to her viewpoint.

Quiet day for me. Church, lunch with ds/family, then they came over and brought me some flowers. They had given me chocolate covered strawberries Friday night.
Aside from that, I napped a lot and watched tv.

I have not even talked to my mom. I called her yesterday and she said the only time she gets relief from pain is when she is asleep. I didn’t want to disturb her if she was sleeping.

Happy Mother’s Day to all!
Tomorrow is another day.
