Motivated Monday PWYC

People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily.

Catching up…
Got home last Monday. The trip was amazing. Tuesday I didn’t feel very well. May have been the flying, but my sinuses were not happy.

Tuesday sweetie, came to me and said he couldn’t do the finances anymore and was totally confused and asked for my help. I spent the day trying to understand the way he had been paying bills, but but had no help because sweetie he couldn’t explain what he usually does. It’s not anything I can’t figure out, but will take some time.

Sweetie‘s desk was a total mess. He has papers cut 4“ x 4“ and uses them like a sticky pad. After trying to figure out how he paid his bills without him being able to tell me, I decided we would just work on clearing off his desk. We went through probably 75 little pieces of paper and I tried to put them in some organized way so he could remember what they were. Many of them got tossed thankfully.

Sweetie’s having a difficult time this week and it’s getting confused a lot. He’s worried abt paying monthly bills, which I have already set up, but the fact he can’t remember what we are doing frustrates him.

Thursday we had someone come over to talk abt installing gutters. We ended up agreeing we needed to do the entire house. I have to be there so I can understand what needs to be done. Sweetie had to initial and sign the contract and he couldn’t remember his initials and could barely write his name. After the guy left, I had to re-explain everything we are doing.

Friday I helped set up our club house for for our Mother’s Day luncheon on Saturday and then spent time trying to explain again to sweetie about what we were doing with the gutters and how I was helping him pay the bills.

I went to our Mother’s Day luncheon on Saturday and then came home and we again had discussions about what had occurred during the week.

Yesterday, when I was in the kitchen, I discovered water in the tracks of our sliding glass door. I knew we had a leak somewhere because there was mold growing on the baseboard in the corner of the kitchen. It just so happens that our neighbor next-door is having a problem with their foundation and water leaking from the foundation into their house. The guy a guy was working on digging out the foundation and when I went over to talk to him, he couldn’t talk to me because he’s Cuban and doesn’t speak English. In the meantime, his Bosch showed up so I asked if he could come look at our problem in the kitchen. He took one look and said oh I know what your problem is, and I can fix it. We also have water coming in from our foundation into the kitchen. That man I had to take everything out of one of my large cabinets and it will have to be removed. The fellow was absolutely an amazing guy. He’s married to a woman from China and speaks Chinese Thai Spanish and English grew up in Kentucky and was a country boy who was raised on the farm so we had lots to discuss. He is a phenomenal man and we are very happy to have him doing the work. However, that means my kitchen is going to be dismantled. And there’s a lot of work involved.

Today I need to take everything that was in my under my counter and my counter drawers and find homes for them while they work to fix this problem. I don’t believe they’re going to be able to get started until another week but I still need to find homes for all this stuff that’s sitting on my counters. So that’s the way. I’ll be spending much of today.

The gutter guys are here to install our gutters today. We have been in drought mode for many months. And of course there’s a huge storm heading our way today. Just my luck. The fellas will work in the rain, but if it’s thunder and lightning they won’t. I wouldn’t want them to do that anyway. So we will see how the rest of today goes.

In the meantime, I’m spending much of my time trying to keep sweetie calm, and less confused. It’s really been a tough week for both of us. But I’m sure we’ll get through it.

Good morning

I am motivated by realizing this is the LAST WEEK of homeschool. Public school ends next week. I can't tell you how big of a relief this will be. It feels like my responsibilities will be cut in half.

My day is off to a good start. I can't remember who said the day starts with PM routine, but I am finding it to be true for me. Mornings are so much easier when PM routine is done the night before.

(((RRose))) Thinking of you as you deal with your dh. Some days my dh is so confused, but recently I've noticed things seem better. May be wishful thinking on my part. Do your bills get mailed to you or emailed. I would take a month and deal with all the bills that come in by mail and see what the balances are. If he has over or under paid, you'll see that right away. Take this job one day at a time. One thing I am grateful for is that all the utilities are in my name, and I have been paying them for over 10 years. With my ex, everything was in his name, even though I was the one actually in charge of making sure they got paid. Welcome back from your trip. It's nice to see you posting again.

I never got the second litter box cleaned yesterday. I did get the laundry into the dryer though. There are still clean dishes to put away and dirty stuff to deal with. I had a nightmare that our house was swarming with flies. YUCK! Thankfully we have never been swarmed with flies. Part of that dream was that my kitchen sink was full of red kidney beans... I don't even like red kidney beans.

Forgot to add... thanks for starting us off today Twins' Mom!

There is one pan left for dh and only because I asked him to finish off whatever pots/pans that I don't get done. Kitty litter box also got cleaned.

Now I only have to empty and refill dishwasher before I go to Monday morning fibre arts group. None of us knit, even though I tell dh I'm going to knitting.

Wow, last week of home school this year, LadyM! Heading toward the summer!

Oh RR, so sorry that Sweetie isn't doing well. I wonder if there are meds that could relieve some of his anxiety? It must be very frustrating to feel things might slip through the cracks, like bill paying, and not be able to do it. We're here for you.

I got dd to the airport already, but it turns out her flight is delayed and she'll miss her ATL connection. She had a direct flight coming here but not going home. She's flying through LaGuardia airport, which is far less convenient for her, but at this point I'm feeling glad she's not going into Newark today with its safety issues. Anyway, she's at the airport.

Ddog is walked and I'm catching my breath. I was up at 6:30 to be sure she was up. Dh went to his workout from six to seven a.m. this a.m., came home to shower and say goodbye to her.

I need to s2s myself.

Thanks… sweetie. Stay on top of the bills. It’s just that he can’t do it anymore. I did all the bills in my household for over 35 years so this isn’t a problem. He gets emails when some of the bills are due so that’s what the problem is. I have to learn how to access that part. It’s really not that hard to pay what we need to pay. I get it but you know it just takes time swapping over.

Twins he is on medication for anxiety so this is just part of the journey. I don’t know when we see his doctor if they’re gonna want up it up the amount but we’ll see when we get there. Otherwise it’s just this is what it is.

To add to all the fun I lost a crown on my tooth this weekend so I have that to figure out as well life just makes you laugh.

What is motivating me...
This week my goal is to call on the getting the stove hood fan & light taken care of.
I need to clean up the kitchen before that so it's motivating me. Kitchen spiff happened.
Called on the stove fan hood waiting on the call back with info.

My back is stiff today so I did sweeping and stretching in the car port to limber up and yes it did help.
I have written my notes aka prompts from a yt vid. of self care journal, and they are not prompts
in the front of my comp. note book for learning and handy easy reference. I put goals in the back.
Some have been done.

Planning is done & did some journaling.
Had bfast.
Got dressed
Walked

I've enjoyed reading your posts this morning.
I did sleep well so that helps.

I need motivation right now. Monday mornings - dh back at work - are typically quiet and it's hard to get started. I haven't had much time to simply think this weekend, and I'm now updating my OMM list for the week.

I'm right there with those dealing with DH losing memory. This morning I took DH to get his weedeater fixed for the 4th? time this spring. It is becoming about a weekly trip now. It turned out to be nothing wrong with the weedeater but DH didn't know how to get the string into it, so he took it apart. The fella put all the pieces back together and showed me how to feed the string in to reload it. I suspect that it is now another job that I will take on....at least feeding 20' of string into it is really easy and quick task. However, it is beyond DH mental ability to do. I am just thankful that once the string is loaded then DH can operator the weedeater without any problems. It makes him happy to be outside and busy.

Yesterday I reminded DD13 that she has papers that I need to fill out to enroll her in school next year. When she brought me a stack of about a dozen papers, DH volunteered to fill them out. I was stunned because he has never done any of the kids papers but said okay and handed him the stack of papers. He sat down at the table and shuffled through the papers for several minutes without filling anything out. He was so determined to do it, so I sat next to him and told him what to write in each space. It took 3 times as long to fill out the papers, but we teamed up to get it done. Afterwards, DH apologized to me for making it take so long because he wanted to do it. I did notice that DH has lost the ability to write in small letters. He printed everything in CAPITAL LETTERS. I mentioned to him a couple times that only the first letter should be capitalized but then I picked up on the fact that he has lost the ability to write small letters.

My grocery shopping list was getting to be lengthy so I picked out all the items that can be shipped to us and got them ordered. We will be in the city on Friday so I can get the cold/frozen items then.
