Anti-Procrastination Wednesday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

“Someday is not a day of the week.”

It's anti procrastination day! Take on some tasks that have been skipped over or "forgotten." Or if you just can't get started, today's the time to make a start and bite off a bit of that elephant.

I like that. Someday is not a day of the week. Someday is the garden and outside. What am I going to do with outside. At least that's what I want to do with my day. Planning and preparing for flowers and garden.

Good Morning

Twins - Thank you for the start and encouragement to get started on "those" things that I tend to ignore.

Earlier this morning I went looking for a previous worksheet that I used to track projects. I found it in my 2021 files. I found the worksheet full of useful information as well as giving me the over all structure that I was looking for. Words are powerful and I could feel myself pulling away (aka procrastinating) from the "Project" title. That seemed toooooooo big and broad for me to tackle. I changed the name from Projects to "Figuring it out" and my mental resistance and reluctance immediately melted away. I'm not tracking projects....I am simply figuring out he next step in some things that need to get done and tracking the progress of each step so they don't get forgotten.
One could say "Projects" and "Figuring it out" are the same thing and actions but with different titles. I am all for using whatever works!

Categories of my tasks that have been completed this morning -
** Personal AM & exercises
** DD13 is staying home from school. She took OTC cold meds at midnight and again at 6am. Pink eye drops continue every 3 hours today.
** DS16 started on his homeschool assignments at 6:30 this morning and finished by 9am. He just left for work.
** Kitchen happenings were successful. I really REALLY like the worksheet that tracks the status of all the food.
** Garden & fish care is underway. It is my go-to reward most hours of the day.

SHE cards status =
10 Completed
24 Due Today

Hi!

I finally put the big table up in the library. Now I need to deal with paperwork. First I have to cover the table in paper and tape all of them together and write the years on the different areas. 2025, 2024, 2023... I also need to put a large container in there to hold the burnable papers.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Good call, Lauralind! It's still raining here this a.m., although I think it's ending and temps going to 80 today. Going to be humid, I bet.

Nothing on the calendar today - the kind of day I like! Next week will be busier because it's a three day week for me, leaving on Thurs. a.m. for Louisville. Speaking of the trip, we found a dog sitter! The cute young trainer gal from the workout place will do it. I'll set up a time this weekend for her to come by to meet Millie. She works all day on Thursday, but the morning on Friday, then gym is closed weekend and Monday.

Ddog threw up (coughed up) a blob on the bed overnight. Need to take blanket, which we fold at end of bed, to cleaners. It's too bulky for our washer and they can probably get the stain out. Also need to strip bed upstairs and check for extra sheets. May not try to wash sheets on bed and get dcleaning lady to put back on next Thurs., I might just let her put the other set on and leave sheets for me to wash when I get home. Also need to retrieve used towels upstairs to wash.

Need to get myself moving. I slept in - rainy morning, and I was dragging yesterday. I don't know if I feel much refreshed tho.

Cathy, I use 3 x 3 post it notes to label each stack when I need to sort papers. They can go with the stack as a divider (stick an edge out and label it too) if I need to regroup. I'm usually sorting by months.

We went to the next town to get gas/oil for DH weed eater. Otherwise known as Cheap Entertainment! :D He is back in business that will keep him busy outside for hours.

Stopped at the little grocery store and picked up some a few items to get us by until Friday when we restock in the city.

I am tip-toeing my way through setting up the Project Figuring it Out worksheet.
** First one to receive focus is getting the Odyssey purchase finished. Today 2 tasks were finished when the pikepass and temporary tag arrived in the mail so both of them have been put onto the vehicle. Still waiting for the title to arrive from the state so we can purchase the tag. Need to set up folder to capture the documents in the vehicle binder.
** Next one to receive foucs is DS16 upcoming surgery. I need more information about what drugs they will be using to knock him out with.
** Next one to receive focus is DD13 birthday celebration. She will be 14 years old in two weeks. How did that happen? Need gifts, cake, invite & party decision.

My anti procrastination task may be working on plans for dh's retirement party. I'm wavering between here at home, or at a commercial event location. We only have 60 on the list. I don't know that we want an evening party, but a drop in afternoon. And the group of dfriends traveling to Poland this summer won't be home until past mid July, so I'd rather plan for then. A drop in party here with a caterer would work here. Get cleaning lady doing her magic, and bring in a caterer and a serving/clean up person?

I worked, and got my inbox down to 50. Lots of "tickler" type items there. I need to do HOA checks soon, but with the work I've done on the financial stmts I just can't do it right now.
