Re: Spaghetti Saturday
Spaghetti is a long, thin, solid, cylindrical pasta. It is a staple food of traditional Italian cuisine. Like other pasta, spaghetti is made of milled wheat, water, and sometimes enriched with vitamins and minerals. Italian spaghetti is typically made from durum-wheat semolina. Usually the pasta is white because refined flour is used, but whole wheat flour may be added. Spaghettoni is a thicker form of spaghetti, while spaghettini is a thinner form. Capellini is a very thin spaghetti, while vermicelli refers to intermediate thicknesses.
Originally, spaghetti was notably long, but shorter lengths gained in popularity during the latter half of the 20th century and now it is most commonly available in 25–30 cm (10–12 in) lengths. A variety of pasta dishes are based on it and it is frequently served with tomato sauce, meat or vegetables.

Re: Spaghetti Saturday
Good morning, everyone, and happy Saturday!
L.Ann, You've planned a wonderful time for Little Bit this summer.
Helian, I hope you found your sweater, and that today is calmer for you.
Laura, I hope you have a chance to relax and unwind this weekend.
It's another beautiful morning - I'm hoping the weather holds for another week, so it's nice for our neighbourhood party, which is next Saturday (we couldn't have it before, as DF CW has had to work the last two weekends, and she is away this week). Main tasks for today -I really must give the sitting room a good dust and hoover, I need to bake flapjack for the Y, and I need to email DF E's article for the parish magazine to SR. I also want to switch the order of tasks round a bit, so I can get my baking/meal prep jobs done while the kitchen is still in the shade. One small cloud on the horizon is that BIL will be coming.to stay next Friday for the weekend,
but I'm not going to think about that now. A walk would be good too. This also needs to be either early of late, so I avoid the heat of the day.
Have a good day, everyone!

Re: Spaghetti Saturday
* * * Good Morning! * * *
Kittykatt, thanks for the start ! Happy Saturday ! Yes, this beautiful summer-y weather is welcome, and especially on weekends ! I'm sorry that your BIL will be visiting when you're having your party. But he won't be a guest at the party, will he? I hope you can make your food preparations before he arrives.
Sunny morning, DS9 is getting ready for his athletics (track and field) practice, MrNG is driving him and his school friend L. When DS6 gets out of bed, I will try and find useful things to do with him, an errand or two, can he help start the laundry, and maybe I can make "bathroom cleaning" interesting...
Yesterday we watched a documentary on President's Zelenskyy childhood and teenage years, I will probably watch the second part tomorrow, very interesting. From their childhood in the USSR to their university years, how a bunch of kids from the same neighbourhood started a band of pop songs / stand-up comedians...
If you speak French or German here are links to watch it online - ARTE is a bilingual TV channel that exists both in France and Germany.
https://www.arte.tv/de/videos/RC-026085 ... taatsmann/
https://www.arte.tv/fr/videos/RC-026085/zelensky/
Anyway, a sunny weekend, no real plans, housechores catch-up, homework, and still the lingering question, how to spend the weekend the best way so that at the end I don't feel like my life is passing me by... (current answers : spending quality time with my kids, reading and learning, being in the present moment).
TADAs
up, read a few interesting news pieces
breakfast with MrNG
fed DS9 before his track and field session
covered DS9 with sun lotion
TODOs
cuop while DS6 is still in bed ?
get dressed, feed DS6
bathroom cleaning, errands... with DS6?

Re: Spaghetti Saturday
Good morning, FFB! We're weather twins again today.
Maybe DS6 could help mop the bathroom floor if you made a game of it? Most kids like playing with water! The documentary on President Zelensky sounds very interesting, but unfortunately, despite having studied French at school for eight years and German for four years, I am proficient in neither.
I am not sure if it was due to poor teaching methods, or a lack of talent application on the part of the student (me)!
BIL is definitely not invited to the party -he and DH will be out somewhere for the day enjoying themselves. I don't want to sound unkind, but I really couldn't face BIL sitting there and telling the neighbours how they should be leading their lives and how he does things so.much better! ( I think he's finally nearly given up telling me how I should be looking after the cats, realising that after well over 30 years of being a cat slave, I might just know what I'm talking about!
)
This year we're keeping the food quite low key, with just "nibbles" rather than a full blown meal - the invitations stated this, so people won't be disappointed. The emphasis will be on socialising, and getting to know the new neighbours. This has reminded me, I really need to write a "check list" for the party! I think DF CW comes home from her short holiday today or tomorrow, so may be we can chat and plan a bit more then? (And, of course, there's always WhatsApp!)

Re: Spaghetti Saturday
Kittykatt, I see how BIL attending the party would sort of ruin the mood... But then, I was almost certain that your DH wouldn't invite him on that weekend without asking you, if he meant to invite him to the party as well.
DS6 is defintely up. I managed to do some bathroom cleaning downstairs while he ate breakfast and then quietly made colored drawings in the LR. Now he will go upstairs, time to attend the upstairs bathroom, the one the kids use... and the one that often smells like a public restroom.
TADAs
quick cuop
DS6 fed, breakfast table cleanup
quick lol in
vac'd then cleaned for a while : downstairs bathroom
also vacuumed master bedroom, downstairs, as the bathroom is built "en suite" (funny use of French words in English)
TODOs
lol on drying rack in the warm sun
get dressed
get DS6 to help cleaning upstairs bathroom
errands... with DS6?
...
and more in the afternoon !

Happy Saturday!
When are the kids off from school, Frenchie?
I am sure you will still be able to enjoy the party, kittykatt, and maybe your DH just wants to show his brother how things are done in your neighbourhood - I mean, from what you write about it, it's very special!
Never got back here yesterday. Getting the kids packed and to the meeting point was a real struggle, and I sure don't know if the twins have everything they are supposed to have, because they were still assembling their backpacks ten minutes after we were supposed to leave!
DH got home rather late, but we still made it to see the Thunderbolts movie. It has high reviews, but I didn't really like it - it was as if the movie couldn't decide whether it was a comedy/parody, or deep psychological drama and the changes were too abrupt and for me it killed the immersion in the fantasy. Anyway... we've had a slow morning, catching up on sleep, and now the garden awaits! And laundry. There's always laundry in this household!

Re: Spaghetti Saturday
Sorry dbil is coming at an awkward time, Kitty.
WTG with the bathroom cleaning, FFB.
I don't keep up with movies so haven't heard of that one, trissie. Glad you got a slow morning!
I did find my sweater last night! In fact, it was still draped over the back of the chair where I had sat -- outside. Pretty amazing. It had been there all day! I just vegged last night and was not productive. After that day, I just needed some down time. It was quite the day.
The last strange event of yesterday - I got a message from a "friend" in Israel. She went to the same Monday evening church group we attended; in fact, we gave her a ride to and from the bus stop every week. She wrote that she'll be in our area in mid-July and hopes to see me then. No context. Is she thinking of coffee together? Or is she wanting to stay at our house? (I hope not!) She was not an easy person for us to be around, kind of oblivious to others, talked a lot about herself. We disagree on several topics -- but I'm not sure she even realized we had different points of view. She may think we're closer friends than we think we are. . . She's a person who takes energy and doesn't give energy - for me. We already have plans to be in Seattle for 10 days - 2 weeks in the middle of July, so it may come to nothing. . . I've forwarded it to dh to get his take on it. I don't have the bandwidth to worry about that now.
I'm here late even though I woke up early. I did some puzzles in bed. And watched a true crime video. Not helpful - some people do very bad things.
It is gray this morning and cooler, in the 50s.
Today is quite scheduled for me for a Saturday:
- visit Mom - in about an hour
- 11:25 - 12:45 watch Fable
- 1 - ? support group meeting for families of dementia parents - at NH
- 5:30 - 9ish CG1 (Will I go late? Or go at all?)
- 6 - ? Watch KY's wedding being livestreamed from Texas
- payroll: finish IR Exam, AIR Exam, and hopefully make LBBR Exam = 3 hours of work (or more?)
- go for a jog?? This may not even fit into today's schedule. And tomorrow's weather is better - less windy.
Next:
- back exercises
- s2s and self care
- some qt
Later:
- make the bed
- reclaim the kitchen (not much to do)
- pack a snack (I might be out 10 - 2 or later)
- pick up a frapuccino for Mom
- visit Mom
- 11:45 - 12:45 watch Fable
- 1 - ? dementia family support group
- lunch
- payroll: make IR AK and send out for review
- payroll: tweak AIR exam and send it back for review
