Re: Jean-Louis Forain @ TDD - C&C
Jean-Louis Forain (French pronunciation: [ʒɑ̃ lwi fɔʁɛ̃]; 23 October 1852 – 11 July 1931) was a French Impressionist painter and printmaker, working in media including oils, watercolour, pastel, etching and lithograph. Compared to many of his Impressionist colleagues, he was more successful during his lifetime, but his reputation is now much less exalted.
A follower and protégé of Degas, Forain joined the Impressionist circle in time to take part in the fourth independent exhibition in 1879; he participated in four of the eight Impressionist Exhibitions (1879, 1880, 1881 and 1886). Influenced by Impressionist theories on light and color, he depicted scenes of everyday life: his watercolors, pastels and paintings focused on Parisian popular entertainments and themes of modernity—the racetrack, the ballet, the comic opera and bustling cafés.

Re: Jean-Louis Forain @ TDD - C&C
Good morning, lovies!
I am actually able to have a slower morning, because DS starts at 9 and so I don't have to drive him to the train station (the morning rush is bad here and he'd have to leave at 6:30 to make it to school by 8 - whereas if we bypass the road traffic jams by going by train, 6:55 is OK). DBD's school opens at 7:40 (she normally goes to before-school club, which opens at 6:45), so she can enjoy a slow morning with some cartoons too.
Big plan for the day - get DH's car towed to car shop and have the tires replaced. And drive the beast home - I am not too confident actually driving his car (he has automatic transmission, mine's manual), but I will have to do it. I am a big girl and can do big girl things!
Other than that, it's same old same old. We're skipping going to the cottage - I have too much to do at home and the kids have school projects. Maybe next weekend, when the older ones are at a scout trip, I can go there for one day with DBD and get the grass mowed?

Re: Jean-Louis Forain @ TDD - C&C
Good morning Trissie and thank you for the start and another interesting painter
This is the hoover I bought, because it was on a very good offer. I actually bought it from Currys, as with DH working for the NHS we were able to get another discount on top of the manufacturer's reduction. Dyson are expensive, but IMHO they are good, robust and pick up well. They also come with a 5 year guarantee!
https://www.dyson.co.uk/vacuum-cleaners ... ulti-floor
If it hadn't been on offer, then I would have bought this one;
https://www.dyson.co.uk/vacuum-cleaners ... mal/animal
I never made it back here yesterday - I managed to hoover the car and valk down to the vet to drop off the chocolates and card.before church, we then had a very special service for Ascension Day, and afterwards, DF PM and I spent ages at the community cafe after church, chatting, having lunch, and discussing plans for parish lunch. Then, when I eventually got back home,.Freddie demanded a snack NOW ( he's obviously feeling much better
) and then got on my lap for an hour. I did manage to powerwash the car before Waitrose delivered, and afterwards fed everyone and PA the groceries. I also went down an internet rabbit hole -I'm thinking of making the flat roof of my dolls house into a roof top terrace garden. There's lots of ideas out there, but I'm a bit restricted , as I can't have anything that's going to be attractive to Matilda, as she is still a "chewer". So, although I remember them very fondly, from the garden I had with my original dolls house, I can have none of those very pretty plants made by Britains back in the 1960s! But that still leaves quite a lot to work with ...
Today, I want to spend time in my garden as it promises to be a nice, sunny day. Top of the list of other jobs, I need to text MQ the verger about some of the plans for parish lunch, and also order Fred's meds. I'm sure there's lots of other things I should be doing as well!

Re: Jean-Louis Forain @ TDD - C&C
Hi trissie, wtg not being intimidated by a big car, you can do it ! I really admire how you tackle projects when your DH is away, and going to the cottage to mow... but yeah, we can do hard things.
Kittykatt, glad you had good social time yesterday. And good thing that Freddie is better. Never heard of Jean Louis Forain, and I thought I was knowledgeable about French impressionnists...
Quick CI from the beach
We're at a camping 2hrs from home, arrived yesterday, leaving on Sunday. The kids are off scholl for Ascension Thursday and the following Friday, like last year, so I took a day off today and we're enjoying a mini vacation.
Thinking too much about payroll, how to have things calm down and back to some sort of normal.
It's a bright sunny day and I want to be present for my kids, right now playing in the wet sand...
Wishing you all a beautiful Friday !

Re: Jean-Louis Forain @ TDD - C&C
Good morning ladies.
Trissie, you can do hard things and will feel more confident. My motto is do it scared. Too bad you can't enjoy the cottage but just get to mow.
Kittykat so glad Freddie is better. We have 2 Tysons and love them and if you got a discount even better. We have the wall mount unit now but our old animal one is 25+ years old and has had most of its parts replaced and still works. P watches you tube videos and orders replacement parts and repairs.
LAnn safe travels and your dinner menu sounds good tonight.
Ff
FFB love they have a day off school for a religious holiday, enjoy mini vacay.
Deciding where to go work out. I am thinking Northside for Deep water class then back to sout side for the good stretch class. I have done more exercise this week than in last year. Will ramp up more next week. Have not done any of the organization on my list and still need to sew those robes on weekly plan.
I had asked to be a reiki angel but never heard anything back. My nephew's grad party is tomorrow and we have church duties Sunday so I think I will have to do it at a later date.

Re: Jean-Louis Forain @ TDD - C&C
So glad you can have this mini vacation, FFB! Enjoy the beach and sunshine with the kids and MrNG! Sounds lovely!
Kitty, dh did the research and got a pricey Miele vacuum for us last time we bought one. I've heard great things about Dyson too! If we had wanted an upright, I think that's what we would have done.
Safe travels L Ann. I hope the appointment is quick and easy!
Glad you get a slower morning for a change, trissie. I hope all goes well with dh's car.
You are exercising a lot, CL! Is it giving you more energy? I worked out with my personal trainer yesterday, and today will be a short jog with an eye toward the weekly 5K tomorrow.
I didn't get back here yesterday either. I had my work out with my trainer and got the groceries from Kroger and then the day took an interesting turn. First, the young couple texted dh and said they couldn't join us for dinner after all bc of an unexpected death in the family.
Oh goodness! That didn't sound good. A couple hours later, AC messaged me asking if I was free to have dinner with her. I checked with dh - and he said to go and enjoy myself. AC also needed a ride home from work; I think that was part of her motivation for the impromptu invite since we had a dinner date on the calendar for next Thursday. LOL! I joined her for an early dinner and got home around 7:30 pm after dropping her off at her house and visiting with her 2 very cute dogs -- and her dh.
I didn't jog yesterday - but I did get in a good work out with my trainer. He had me planking for 40 seconds -- 3 times in a row. I wasn't sure I could do it, but I could.
I'll jog today, keeping it short really making an effort to make the 5K at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning.

Re: Jean-Louis Forain @ TDD - C&C
Dysons - I'm pleased with ours, bought several years ago because I decided the price would be the same as further purchasing of the cheap ones I'd previously thought would save me money but didn't last. (Not sure this is always true - it was for us.)
Our new son-in-law's cousin, the minister who officiated my dd's wedding last summer, worked for Dyson at their corporate office in Chicago for several years before going into the ministry. So dsonil is well-versed in explaining the "whys" of the "ball" and how its engineering works, when and how it was invented, etc.
Thanks for links, Kittykatt. It's interesting. I hope you are pleased with your purchase.
