The West Highland White Terrier (commonly shortened to Westie) is a breed of dog from Scotland with a distinctive white harsh coat and somewhat soft white undercoat. It is a medium-sized terrier, though with longer legs than other Scottish terriers. It has a white double coat of fur which fills out the dog's face, giving it a rounded appearance.
The Westie is intelligent, quick to learn, and can be good with children, but does not always tolerate rough handling. It is an energetic, boisterous, and social breed with a high prey drive, having been bred to hunt small rodents at places such as farms, and needs regular exercise of around one hour per day. The modern breed is descended from a number of pre-20th century breeding programmes of white terriers in Scotland. Edward Donald Malcolm, 16th Laird of Poltalloch, is credited with the creation of the modern breed from his Poltalloch Terrier but did not want to be known as such.

Trissie is up early again. I just had to say this one was the last breed my grandma had. She was a breeder/trainer/groomer. Many a dog show in her day and very successful. Westies. Shelties. She did miniature pincers. Coonhounds way before my time. I remember the shelties because we had several of them and the westies. Now I have a big high maintenance dog that needs training and she's been gone 5 6 years. I did get some of her good grooming brushes from dad .. gotta work a little harder at grooming him again.
Busy day at work. Managed to get ds to do supper on time we had a watoto children's choir here. Wow. Amazing. Go see it if they ever come your way. I don't know where they all go.
Now it's bedtime soon. I'm ready to fall asleep.

Good morning,Trissie, and thank you for the start.
Sleep well, Laura! How interesting to hear about your DGrandma and her dogs. When my Departed great Aunt retired, she was able to indulge in her two passions -her garden, and breeding pugs. I remember the former, (especially the roses!) but not the latter - may e they were shut away when I came to visit as a small child?
Today DH goes to work, and I'm at home. Indeed to get everything ready for the gas engineer 's visit tomorrow to service the boiler and the other gas appliances. I also need to run the heating today, even just for an hour, to check it works and that all the radiators are heating up properly. And when I clean the kitchen I need to move everything so the work tip is empty under the boiler and by the cooker, so he (it's always been a "he" so far!) has plenty of space to work.
Maybe I can do some of this during the 11 am - 3 pm slot when I am, once again, waiting for a delivery? It's dry ATM, so I would also like to do something in my garden and go for a walk. As a bonus, I would also like to clear out and declutter the cubby hole in the kitchen where so much seems to have been stuffed.
It's time to be ruthless!

DH has left for work, and l've taken advantage of his absence to tackle the boxes and general clutter that have accumulated upstairs. I've also decluttered and reorganised the bottom of my wardrobe. It's not "perfect" but it's a a big improvement, so it will do. I've also moved all the free samples that I'm never going to use to the wicker basket in top of the wardrobe. I'll take some to the beauty bank at the library, and keep some for my shoe box for Moldova (always assuming we're doing shoes boxes again this year). I've also had a quick tidy in the airing cupboard, as the gas engineer will need to go in there tomorrow. And I've run a quick duster and hoover around upstairs, so it looks reasonably presentable. DH is out this evening, so hopefully it should stay that way!!!
Going to jump in the shower now, then I'll take Fred for his walk.

kittykatt I will follow you to the garden today.... if only for :15. I have a job: my DGD put me in charge of her tomato plant while she is away. It must be transplanted urgently.
I did not get back yesterday... the day just got away from me.
Today's goals:
keep pup settled
:10 walks (first one done)
transplant tomato
e-mail friend
call CC company (weird charges)
crochet doll cardi (for DGDs)
laundry!
pa winter clothes (as much as possible)
prep mushrooms
prep tofu

kitkat, you're reminding me to check on the 2 tomato plants I got from colleague DE. They're almost dead but I think one will revive. Not sure about the other one.
I got the GGT spreadsheet finished last night; CM is going to look it over before I send out the emails to see if there are some simple things she can fix first. The only paperwork for Mom I got done yesterday was the forms for her to get OT and PT at the NH. Those forms took a good 45 minutes? Or more? And I had to ask the trustee a question in the process. I have no idea when she started on medicare, so I just made up a date. I hope that is OK.
Today, I'm basically going to jog, make progress with paperwork for Mom, work on decluttering piles, and prep and sub the online class at 4:30. I'm watching Fable 6-7, so we'll eat late. I think I'll pull the vinegar olive chicken from the freezer. That will make for a quick, easy, and tasty dinner with rice and a veggie. I also have a phone call with the school's director at 3:40 pm.
Our housemate M is returning sometime today. She spent 3 weeks at home (where she grew up) with her parents in FL.
It is sunny and 73*F already. I need to get out there and jog before it gets too hot.
