The board has been up and down so far today for lots of us....

We used to sometimes ask our kids at dinner what the best part of their day was....

So what have been the up and downs of your week? Your month so far? or your day?

The best part of this week might have been getting the HOA meeting over with for the year! The worst part....I don't know. Maybe prepping for the meeting? Or the cloud that was over my head one day this week? Can't remember what day, actually.

I think dh and I are going to Michaels and (GASP) Costco. He saw some polywood type chairs (not polywood) at Costco and wants me to see them. We want to replace the rocking chairs on our porch - they were painted black years ago and now have the "shabby chic" look, but don't quite match the existing polywood seating area at the other end of the porch. The costco chairs don't look jet black in the photo, hence I need to see them. Also a stop at Michaels - he wants to organize the freezer for me....

Thank you for the start, Twins. The board has certainly been very "variable" today!

The best part of this week: fixing the date for our parish Christmas lunch (yes, I know it's only the beginning of June, but places get booked up quickly ). I've just taken over the organisation of the monthly lunches, as the lady who has done it for years feels unable to continue. Numbers have dropped severely over the last year or so, and I want to try and revitalise it by trying different venues. For Christmas, I had the idea of having a buffet style lunch at the back of the church (we have lots of space there for this kind of event since the interior redesign) and use some outside caterers to make life easy for everyone. I finally was able to meet with the verger (who has the final say on church bookings) and book the date. We've had a quick discussion about arranging tables, decorating etc, but the important thing is the date is now set.

Low point this week -Matilda's dental check this morning revealed fairly extensive gingivitis and a canine that may need to be extracted. Despite no sign of either when she had her last health check three months ago. She has a history of dental issues, so I'm not entirely surprised , although I am a bit surprised at how quickly it's developed again. So she's now booked in for a dental cleaning, polish, x-rays and possible extractions on Friday. Part of me is feeling I have failed as a "cat Mum" for being negligent for this to happen, but the other part is saying that I take her for all her regular checks, and she has a good diet with no sticky treats and certainly no sugar, (she's not very compliant with tooth cleaning though!) and very often genetic causes such as saliva composition and positioning of the teeth are also to blame for dental issues.

It's rained all day today, so it's been a good chance to catch up a bit with indoor jobs.

I am always super thankful when the SHE board returns to normal. THANK YOU!

We took delivery of refrigerator this morning and it went well. They took two doors off our home before they found a way to get the old refrigerator out and the new one in. The doorway clearance was a challenge, but the delivery fellas were outstanding in every way.

Now I am doing what feels like a Tetris challenge to decide how to best organize the refrigerator and bottom freezer. I had a method that worked well in our old refrigerator so I am repeating it in the new one. The bottom freezer is different from our old and offers more organizational options. I am sure that I will be changing and tweaking it after a few days of use.

The best part of this week: Having TIME! i am loving not being pushed for time and mentally strapped. I love that I have the ability to focus on decluttering and making decisions. During the school year, homeschooling takes a huge chunk of my focus and mental energy. I am loving summer break.

I'm so glad you were able to start our day in PWYC, Twins'. I tried earlier to post and couldn't. We have received no communication about this from GoDaddy at all, no explanation. I hope whatever the glitch was, it is over.

So sorry to hear your little pet is having dental issues, Kittykatt.

Dbil came to visit briefly.

Even after having a funny evening schedule, I was up later concerned about HRH not feeling well. Trying to get the day back on an even keel. He had lunch while his brother was here but has gone back to bed.

Ds called to let us know his mini-vacation to Hilton Head next week with ddil for their anniversary.

It took me awhile to think of something that would qualify as the low part. Life has been fairly good lately. Although, not perfect by a LONG shot. Having 2-6 teens in the house means there is always something going on.....and less then best decisions being made.

Low point this week - Not having a working refrigerator greatly challenged me to keep food ready to eat for myself and the family & friends. The choices were slim. One of the days the teens ate bologna sandwiches through an entire loaf of bread. They ate all the hot dog buns and wieners on another day. Another time I saw DD14 putting ranch dressing on crackers and eating that for a meal. It has been a week of low options and not healthy or wonderful food, but everyone survived.

My personal high point was the book sale the other day.

Low point will be tomorrow. A bicycle ride "to help conquer cancer" will restrict our use of our driveway. Close to 5000 bikes will be passing along the road on the south side of our house and then they are all turning left to come along our road. Dh has been fussing about this since we got the notice a couple of weeks ago. He is fretting about being able to go out. We haven't been shopping in Niagara Falls as much as we used to and we don't really need to go anywhere tomorrow morning. Dh has already asked a neighbour across from us if we could park the truck there tonight/tomorrow. Bike riders in our area make him angry because they won't move over to the sides and they don't care who is driving near them. These are considered country roads and some groups of riders will ride 5 or 6 across and cover both lanes. So, dh is already mad about everything to do with tomorrow. ~sigh~

The smoke isn't as bad today. Lots of that wildfire smoke around here yesterday. Now there is a burn ban as well. So happy I got our burning done a few days ago.

Now dh is outside doing some weed whacking and cursing at full volume about something. I can hear him over the noise of the weed whacker.

I guess the best part of my week was spending time with ds and dgrands, even though they (the grands, not ds!) do exhaust me sometimes!
The worst — just generally being concerned about dmom. She called this morning, no reason, just to talk, which is unusual.

LadyM, ds and ddil moved refrigerators this week, and had to take doors off the refrigerators to get them through the door. They went from side by side to French doors with freezer on the bottom. It looks like a LOT more space. New refrigerator was given to them.
That’s good because they found out they need a new dishwasher and ddil’s dad has been working on their washing machine this week too!

I was feeling down when it wasn't.

Down the street there taking branches down from a tree hanging over the house, I've been watching it and
writing down some notes thoughts and ideas for double down day for pages & word counts.

This week's high lite was most definitely getting my new stove hood installed.

I have been down to the basement doing laundry today.
