Georg Philipp Telemann (German pronunciation: [ˈɡeːɔʁk ˈfiːlɪp ˈteːləman]; 24 March 1681 – 25 June 1767) was a German Baroque composer and multi-instrumentalist. He is one of the most prolific composers in history, at least in terms of surviving works. Telemann was considered by his contemporaries to be one of the leading German composers of the time, and he was compared favourably both to his friend Johann Sebastian Bach, who made Telemann the godfather and namesake of his son Carl Philipp Emanuel, and to George Frideric Handel, whom Telemann also knew personally.

Almost completely self-taught in music, he became a composer against his family's wishes. After studying in Magdeburg, Zellerfeld, and Hildesheim, Telemann entered the University of Leipzig to study law, but eventually settled on a career in music. He held important positions in Leipzig, Sorau, Eisenach, and Frankfurt before settling in Hamburg in 1721, where he became musical director of that city's five main churches. While Telemann's career prospered, his personal life was always troubled: his first wife died less than two years after their marriage, and his second wife had extramarital affairs and accumulated a large gambling debt before leaving him. As part of his duties, he wrote a considerable amount of music for educating organists under his direction. This includes 48 chorale preludes and 20 small fugues (modal fugues) to accompany his chorale harmonisations for 500 hymns. His music incorporates French, Italian, and German national styles, and he was at times even influenced by Polish popular music. He remained at the forefront of all new musical tendencies, and his music stands as an important link between the late Baroque and early Classical styles. The Telemann Museum in Hamburg is dedicated to him.

Something very baroque-y:

Good morning Trissie and thank you for starting us off with another interesting composer. I have to confess I'd never heard of Telemann before, but the recording sounds lovely.

(((Gma))) I'm.so very sorry.to hear about the loss of DTutsi. I know how special she was to you and your DMum. I also know that no one could have looked after her better or given her better care than you did. More (((HUGS)))

Helian, thank you for the recommendations for study guides. We have a book problem too. DH has some boxes up in the loft if books he's probably never going to read again. Fortunately, all the others more or less for on the bookcases ( I used to ask DH to please move his piles of books so I could hoover, and he got tired of that, so found homes for them! )

Bama, WTG with all your progress yesterday. Has your DH always been like this with his clean / dirty clothes, or is it a new thing?

(((Laura))), you are *not* a bad housekeeper, you just have lots going on in your life ATM. Don't forget, I don't have a job outside the home. (I do volunteer a lot for the church, and I'm involved in the neighbourhood, but that's not the same thing at all, as much of the planning / organisation/ sending out emails etc for the former I do at a time convenient to me. I also only have DH and three cats to be responsible for / care for) I do hope you enjoyed your snuggle time with little J - the time they are small is so precious - and so short!

L.Ann, was Little Bit 's birthday celebration at camp yesterday? I hope the popsicles survived!

Dogged, you also got lots done! I'm sorry for all the extra work you had from Gemma being "caught short" in the car. I don't know if it would help, but I always cover the back seat if my car with a bin liner, followed by pet incontinence pads. I also use a pad in the bottom of the carriers, with vet bed on top.

Yesterday was both productive and enjoyable. It turned very hot and muggy by midday, so after spending time in my front garden,.which was in the shade, I decide to clean the kitchen, which was also in the shade. By the time DH came home,. I'd finished the kitchen, so I spent some time with him, updating the Waitrose order, until it was time for him to go out. By then, the sun had come out again, it was cooler and fresher and the most beautiful evening. So, I had a lovely time in my garden, followed by a walk down by the stream. Although it was gone 9pm by that time, it was still light, and there were lots of "normal" people around, so it felt quite.safe. And I got to hear the birds singing their "evening" chorus. I did come back home through the estate though, as that was probably safer than going through the somewhat deserted woods. And then, when I was back home, I had a sudden surge.of.energy and cut Jude's and Matilda's nails, gave them both a brush and their Laxapet.

Today marks the start of two full days, and it's raining / has been raining. Still, it's not raining heavily ATM,.so I'm hoping it will clear up as it will make life easier. This morning is church, and I'm going to have to wiggle through the estate due to more road closures. Although on our estate "footway closed" or "road closed" signs are considered to be more of a challenge than an instruction, I don't feel up to coping with time-pressed commuters coming in one direction a d equally time-pressed parents anxious to drop off their kids at school, coming in the other direction! Sometimes,. discretion is indeed the better part of valour. . It will also give me practice for the return journey this afternoon, when I have to take Jude to the vet for two appointments.

This evening , Waitrose will hopefully deliver - I have ordered quiche along with my groceries, as I have no idea what time I'll get back home, and I need a quick, early supper, so I can prepare Matilda.for her procedure tomorrow. Someone.from the vet is also supposed to be ringing me today, to go through a checklist for Matilda,.and to give me last minute instructions (I hope they don't ring during the church service!) And, I have some errands to run, although if the rain doesn't stop Iigjt pish those onto tomorrow.

To do:

Appointments:
Thursday: DH WFH
10.30 am church
Any errands? Pick up chocolates for vet and DF CW
Hoover car? ( Weather permitting!)
Bring blue crates up from garage (delegate this to DH)
Phone call from vet at ?? regarding Matilda's upcoming dental surgery
2 pm weight check with a vet nurse - Jude
2.30 pm dental check with a vet -Jude (I'm desperately hoping Jude's teeth and gums are fine, as I really don't want two cats recovering from surgery within days of each other!)
6-7 pm Waitrose delivery
Matilda 's anti-inflammatory med
Laxapet -Jude and Matilda ( if we didn't do it yesterday)
Put Matilda to bed early with her supper, as she won't be able to graze all night as usual
NO FOOD FOR MATILDA AFTER 10 PM
Friday: DH WFH
8 am Matilda to vet for dental surgery
After she's booked in, drive up the hill amd leave the car at the church (MQ has given permission)
Walk across town to the health centre (much quicker than dealing with rush hour traffic, and parking there is hopeless anyway  )
9.20 am and 10.20 am nurse review is appointments -me (why they're not one after the other beats me - it's with the same.nurse  )
If I didn't do this yesterday, pick up chocolates in town for vet and DF CW on the way back to the car
Pick up Matilda at ??
DF CW arrives to babysit Matilda at ?? (DH still hasn't given me the time he wants to leave  DF CW has a much loved cat of her own, who is also registered with our vet, and is also a very experienced nurse, so, although I'd really rather not go out at all with Matilda just having had surgery, I know she'll be in very good hands)
Dinner out with DH's amateur dramatic society. We will need to leave them by 10 PM as I've promised DF CW we'll be back by 10.30 pm

Pick up my footprints
House tasks: Replace the bit of mortar that's fallen out of the edge of the roof (I think its called the verge? Can this wait until next year when we get the house painted when a roof ladder will be in place?)
Sort out cabinet that wobbles - does the back need some sort of bracing ?
Fix garage guttering that's loose at one end and bending down. Dneighbour R2 may fix?
Fix dripping kitchen tap (new washer ?)- DF E has given me the phone number of her plumber . I think DF CW also has a plumber she is happy with?
Take up and hem those thick winter curtains for the kitchen
Book eye test for me
Find picture hanging equipment for DH
Sort prints and put in albums (this will probably be an activity to do on wet days!) WIP I am now working on 2024
Think about setting up Guardianship for F,J and M - looked on Cats' Protection, I need their microchip numbers, approximate DOB, colour and markings and useful information about them. Bookmark link with local recommended solicitors (also ask DF CW?)

(copied from late Wednesday)
I started the day with trying to wake d little dog. She coughed, and sounded horrible.
I could go through all that happened, or just tell you all,
D little dog died Wednesday afternoon.
This is certainly not what I expected, as she ahd seemed so much better on Monday. And tho she didn't eat much on Tuesday, I didn't think much of it, just thought she was still full from day before.
Mother is devastated, but comforted that Tutsi died in her arms, knowing that she was very much loved.

Meanwhile, I met with sprinkler company in the early morning,
Took dfBS to emergency room
Picked up mother at Nh, took her to orthpedic appointment for steroid injection in shoulders - both
brought mother back to NH
hung pictures of ddog on her wall
visited dfBS in hospital
washed 1 lol

oh my, how did it get to be after midnight!?? I think I better get ready for bed.

I've made it to church. It's still raining, but Ive parked under a big tree, so I only get dripped on.Ibe managed to give the car a quick hoover, bit I e texted DH to let him know that picking up his shoes will have to wait until tomorrow as I really don't want to walk the length of the high street in pouring rain. He in turned has texted me , as he thinks the interim vicar 's email Jas been hacked. Not sore if MC is taking the service today, but MQ, the Berger, will have his telephone number, so if necessary she can ring him and let him know.

It's very early (for me) - and I haven't slept enough at all, about 4.5 hours. But I'm unfortunately awake. I'll try to go back to sleep but thought I'd pop in here first. My alarm is going off in just 30 minutes.

Gma, I'm so so sorry about Tutsi. You took such good care of her. So glad she could go being held by your dmom. And you did SO much yesterday. My goodness!! I hope your friend in the hospital is OK.
Bama, your decluttering work is very inspirational! Your dh's laundry situation sounds difficult.
Thanks for the Telemann start, trissie! I'm quite sure I played some of his piano pieces as a child/ teen.
Kitty, I certainly hope the vicar's email has not been hacked. I hope the church service was uplifting on a rainy day.

Yesterday, I was middling productive. I jogged the arb hill, got the change of address cards finished and ready for the mail (it took more than 20 minutes. . . ), and started going through piles in the study area. I have a stack of books from the curriculum dev project last year that I need to return to work. I also got clean sheets on the bed. I also managed to update 3 health apps for the first time in. . . 5? days.

Today, I'm meeting with the trainer across town at 8 a.m. As I drive back across town afterward, I plan to (1) stop by payroll and drop off the books and then (2) visit Mom. I should be home again around 10:30 or 11, depending on how things go with Mom. More progress on the piles, exam prep, and other brain dump tasks would be good. Morning all. I am so sorry gma. You gave tuhtsi the best chance you could ever have given her. I hope it isn't too hard on your mom.

Kittykat you are right you don't work. I should not compare. I do have a problem with thinking the worst of myself. Honestly a quick whb and declutter a few corners and it isn't as bad as I make it out to be. I just never completely finish anything. And somehow the way it's designed in here it's just looking a bit cluttery.

Returning some books to work should help the overflow helian. I imagine they easily migrate home. I didn't realize dh was in Japan. And trissies dh is only a couple days drive south of me. Travelers.

I need to finish my qt and get busy. I did get the errands done yesterday. Then spent about 11 ish till after 4 with lil j. He did go down a couple of times but not for more than 20 minutes at a time. I got a few strawberries done. And just plain playing with baby and snuggles. We walked in the yard a bit and said hi to Casper. Casper likes him but I'm not sure how comfortable lil j was. A little at a time. He has a puppy now too but his puppy is the same age as him. Still little and amazingly calm.

It was a lovely relaxing time. He was so good and only gota little fussy at the end. Then ds15 decided he might like to go watch nephew drive grandpa's 65 truck in the grad parade. That was at 6. It was a fun little parade. After which I made a funny mess of supper. I ordered the wrong thing. Takeout chicken and what I meant to get as wedges... i said tenders. Chicken strips. They were really good but we had all chicken for supper....

Anyway I need to do some berries before work and finish the rest tonight. And I should bake the potatoes this morning. Then I can actually do the twice baked tonight and just have to reheat tomorrow.

Put like 15 potatoes in the oven to bake
Shower
S&s both baths and start laundry
Tidy laundry room and master bedroom some

Add some stuff to dw and turn on
Bag up yesterday's berries
See how many more I can do
Early shift and not forget school run
