Re: Focused Friday PWYC
I realize that you all must be right!! This type of thing surprised me. thank you - I have to be stronger. I was surprised when she moved the daisies to where she wanted them and then she wanted to remove some the salmon seal for a fern she likes. The eating from mom's plate surprised me as well - I thought it might be cultural.
it is always a joy to be here with you!

The food might be cultural, blessed, but not the flowers.
Cathy, lol, I don't want an altercation at my yard either, of course, but if I faced a similar situation, it would be amusing to me if my neighbor (ds) who drives home from work in a vehicle with lights, siren, and wears a uniform with badge, might come visit at that moment. (Was that a naughty thought?)
Strangers saying "Sweetheart", etc. - I no longer think of this type of thing as a mistake, but as a potential intimidation. That's just how it sounds to me these days, as I have become more mature and knowledgeable myself. Unless speaking to a child, why would anyone suggest that kind of "intimate because I say so" relationship? One potential exception, which I have heard lately, is when a man is the pro carer, such as a nurse, to a lady who is infirmed. (I see this sometimes at hospital.) I've noticed situations in which I think the carer is truly trying to show kindness, or reassurance - not perfect but maybe the best he can manage in a difficult moment. Other than that, since it certainly wouldn't happen in front of the woman's family, it is negative and suspicious.
Gee, do I have an opinion on that?
I've been around a while - long enough to remember a lot of respect and also long enough to know it's the right thing.
Dr. says I have "graduated" but am on "probation" for just coming in once a week. She will see how my bloodwork and I are doing one week from today, but there's a good chance I won't have to be changed back. I really don't know how I feel - a big change. I keep thinking someone must be forgetting something because it seems like such a long time to have freedom.
Home so late from 3 appts. HRH has ordered a takeout meal. I begrudge the dollars a little, but I see that he's got a point. We're tired folks.

Harriet HUGE congratulations for being "on probation". I'm certain my SIL didn't go through any of what you did. They discovered her cancer when she was already at stage 4 and operated immediately. She also did time in a large room encased in very thick glass walls and had to through away all her clothes that she wore into the room and the outfit she wore out of the room. I think that was a one time thing. Of course, this all happened close to 10 years ago, so my memory might be off slightly.
We have had supper (leftover spaghetti with meat sauce and meatballs).

Re: Focused Friday PWYC
Good evening! I see I didn’t post yesterday, although I thought I did. Don’t even see a half-finished post anywhere. Hmph.
My Friday has not been focused, though I’ve at least gotten my steps in. I put a list of things to do in an app that mimics a spinner, and even then, half the time, I’ve been ignoring what comes up.
Car was to the shop today for new brakes. When the mechanic called — past 5, so he was working on it late — he warned me before he told me that the price would be high. It was under $1000, so I said it wasn’t too scary. Turns out, on the itemized bill, he had given me several discounts — and without them, it would have been over $1K. The mechanic is a buddy of my DB, but for goodness sakes, he’s got to eat, too!
So now our car is ready to head to Columbus for the game convention next week. We’ll leave around noon on Wednesday and get home Sunday afternoon, at which point, DH will turn around and head to Scout camp for the week.
I think all the painting and repairs on the house are done, though I thought they were done yesterday, and workers came back today. The robins’ nest is still intact. The workers were careful not too disturb it, but I think all the activity might have spooked the birds. I worry that their hatchling may have starved.
I should go check on dinner — a frittata in the crockpot. Last I looked, it was a bit wet on top, though that may just be condensation. I’ll have to see if it’s firm underneath; if so, we can eat. Sweet dreams, everybody! I doubt I’ll post this weekend; we have a graduation party and a memorial service to go to.
