Sunday Father's Day PWYC
Hooray for the fathers in our lives! Fathers of our children and faux fathers who step in and mentor!
What's happening in your day today? Fathers Day? Other celebrations? Worship and rest? Do share!

Re: Sunday Father's Day PWYC
Good morning!
Twins - Thank you for the start today.
I'm counting my blessings today because I had such a wonderful father in my life. He was always someone I could count on being there for me and I sought his counsel many times over the years. Daddy lived his life well and set a remarkable example for his family and friends. He died 12 years ago but memories of him are heartwarming from filling my life with his constant love and encouraging words.

Re: Sunday Father's Day PWYC
I'm up have bread in the oven wondering if the new dad in our clan can eat it b/c I think he is gluten intolerant.
Great grand son was born yesterday!
Just in time for being the best gift ever!

Re: Sunday Father's Day PWYC
Nancy, I hope the new baby's Dad has a wonderful Father's Day. Very happy for your family.
Thinking of vergerswife's household today.
HRH is invited for lunch after church time. I won't go, but I'm glad he can. Not a restaurant. He'll bring me back a Caesar Salad, I believe I've heard.
I chatted about my ddad with first cousin yesterday. So often the high ideals by which he lived his life are brought to mind.
HRH and I also mentioned his dad Joe within the last few days, and how HRH is like him.
I'm sure my older children miss my late dh. I should give them another chance to talk about him some, next time I see them. Maybe that will be later today as it often is on Father's Day - as far as I know, though, ds is still on his anniversary trip. Last time they were both here together HRH told them they both remind him of their dad, but ddolder the most.
After taking papaya tablets last evening, my nausea subsided, so I really am suspicious of that mango now. It seemed it was totally something I ate.
So far, no dizziness today, and I did sleep last night even though there were two naps yesterday. Sometimes I just can't follow what my body is doing.

Re: Sunday Father's Day PWYC
for dh - I have two men here helping me clean out the garage for him. I hope he will be happy with it.
mom is up - dd's have told me that I have I have to let go the things my mom says - that my energy changes when she is nasty. Just let it go and they are right - I have to help my soul let it go and find gentleness and humor in things. it bothers me and should not let it. my attitude change just makes things worse.
dd's dog ate mom;s breakfast and I had to do it again

Re: Sunday Father's Day PWYC
Quiet day here. Dh has gone for a massage and we'll have lunch/brunch out later with ds. I've done some planning for the week - going to get a pedicure for my hooves, I have two workouts and two Zoom meetings, the second zoom with a dfriend who does Medicare supplemental plans. We have to get that squared away since we're going off of dh's insurance end of the month. He said last night he only have four more work days - four this week (he's been skipping Fridays) and he's away next week on Monday-Tuesday for a final client visit to CA.
And I have the usual cemetery/HOA stuff this week.
So glad your feeling closer to normal today, Harriet. And echoing this:
Congrats on the great grandson, Nancy, how wonderful to be a new baby daddy at Father's day.
My father died in 1999. We were never close although I appreciated his family stories and memories as I got older. He had a temper and was a bit set in his ways to have children in his forties, I suspect, although we had wonderful summer trips camping. He could build anything - I can see ds probably got mechanical skills from him. His own father died when he was a teen.
Glad to see you checking in LadyM. I recall when your father died - we've all been through so much together. He must have been a wonderful man.
And bw2, trying to get back to normal here -wishing you a good day too!

Re: Sunday Father's Day PWYC
Dishes are underway. I boiled some eggs last night and boiled potatoes this morning and now the potato salad is in the fridge. I also boiled the last of the long grain rice that was in the house to make rice pudding. Because there was slightly more than needed, the pudding is thicker than usual. Funny how far 1/2 or less makes such a difference. Rice pudding has been baked and is now cooling.
Dh has cut some pork ribs into smaller portions and they will be going into the crockpot for supper. As usual, just the 2 of us here today. Dd is most likely seeing her dad at some point today.

Re: Sunday Father's Day PWYC
I'm joining in with trying to get back to normal. Also joining in with looking at the week and doing a little planning. DD14 has 2 appointments this week that will include many miles of driving so I added alarms to make sure we get out the door on time.
SHE card status =
19 completed
20 due
I ordered parts for toilet repair. I am hopeful that I can do those and am weirdly looking forward to trying it.
