One more thought re: bridges -- and Ooohhh, Bama, I can only imagine how scary it would be to be driving over grates where the water was visible! Eeeek! And as much as I would love to go to Key West, I would never be able to drive all that way across all that water. (And I don't fly either. I just want my feet, and my tires, on good solid ground.)
BUT -- as much as I hate bridges, tunnels are worse. I don't want to go to the beach in your area anymore because somewhere I heard that you have to go through a tunnel? Maybe to get to Dauphin Island? I went there as a child, and I don't remember the tunnel, but as I get older, I get more claustrophobic.
Have y'all seen -- some of you have probably been there and done this with no problem -- but somewhere in the New England/Washington DC area, there is a bridge that goes way out into the bay, and then it TURNS INTO a tunnel. I cannot even imagine driving through all that.

Well, my secret's out. Lucy is a big chicken.

OH -- and CostumeLady -- while you're praying in re: to lost items... I am extremely concerned because I cannot find a collection of high school poetry I wrote. Since dh's death, it weighs on my mind that someone will one day be going through my things. I would like to either destroy or at least edit some of these writings before DS and ddil come across them some day. They live in dh's parents' house, and found some love letters dfil had received from a sweetheart prior to dmil. To quote a line in Sling blade, "They made great sport of it."
Well. There is nothing more dramatic than a heartbroken teenage girl in the midst of (1) unrequited love, and later, different guy, (2) forbidden romance. There is only one place this should be -- in the bottom of my closet. However, it is not there anymore and I am at a total loss. I can't believe I would have decluttered it all without telling the ladies in PWYC about it, but nope, there is no mention of it. Maybe your prayers will help.
Tomorrow is another day.

lucy, you reminded me of something that happened... a long time ago!

I was at technical university (read: 10 boys to 1 girl ratio), I think year 4 or 5 of my 11 semester program. While I used mostly notebooks for each of the classes, I had this folder where I kept loose papers and some official paperwork with my name and address on it. And... I was in the habit of writing short stories or scenes when I was bored. And one of the drabbles was a writing exercise, a VERY explicit letter from a woman to her lover detailing all the things she'd do if he were there.
Then one day I left the folder somewhere. Replaced the official paperwork, though it was a hassle, but about a month later somebody mailed me the entire content of that folder - minus my writing exercise! Just thinking somebody read THAT and decided to keep it while knowing my full name and address... yikes!
