Write it down Wednesday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

What are you writing down today and why? A list? Journaling, like Nancy? Planner? Genealogy writing, like me, so I can get the research out there and share with others?

Writing helps us remember and process things to do, or emotions, or random thoughts that might lead somewhere. Or for me, writing helps me realize the holes in research, places where facts are incomplete or unfinished. My mentee asked yesterday to push off our meeting from Wed to Friday so she could meet her writing goal - 1000 words, but nonetheless she's getting it onto paper.

:D
I was already quoting Twins' Mom this morning on Write it Down Wednesday! Great minds thinking alike!

Is information bouncing around inside your head? Write it down!

Twins' Mom quoted David Allen, author of Getting Things Done, in May, last year:

The more information bouncing around inside your head, the harder it is to decide what needs attention. As a result, you spend more time thinking about your tasks than actually doing them. When information piles up in your head, it leads to stress, overwhelm, and uncertainty.

I was up early and that was good since the inspector came to finally get the last bit done on our HVAC system. When I opened the door to his knock, he had already stepped back to the unit, so he called out as if talking to HRH as he's done before. LOL. I said, "It's not him, it's me." Since he didn't know there was a "me" with a female voice, I think I shocked him a little. Oh well, he is finished and no one else needs to come check anything until our annual with the company.

Writing:

3 x 5 thoughts - I've been thinking our household needs to get back to the tried-and-true "____ things to do tomorrow" cards. Whether 3 things or 5 things (as P and P first envisioned), it's a relief to know that the night before, you wrote it down on that wonderful disposable 3 x 5.

Things that have pricked my "should have written" memory lately:

1) Make eye appts
2) Swish and swipe master bath
3) Call truck-farming cousin

General hopes of getting back to routine around here, actually. More kitchen stamina, for instance - just need to stand at that sink and finish dishes, even if it means drying with a dish towel rather than air-drying. HRH does a good job, but waits until "there's enough", and the counter is too cluttered for common sense by then!!!

like me, so I can get the research out there and share with others?

As ya'll can imagine, I've had lots of time to write sermons/lessons in my head over the last several months. I need to get them "down" so as to "capture" as GTD's David Allen would advise. And as Twins' Mom reminds, be able to share with others.

I love it. My brain is often in circles trying to figure out what needs doing and remembering things. And then down a rabbit trail that leads to distraction or getting stuck on what wasn't the priority list.

I do need to get back to journaling. Some of it is here. But I had a prayer journal. Haven't done it for months again. Helps me process things and focus prayers.

Well it's raining. I wonder if it's going to rain all day. Plan is to go watch mom for a bit and let dad go to town for I have see if she is up or if she goes to the again. Maybe I will have to stay a little longer and get started on the weeds. Inside the greenhouse is not raining. And it's covered in a layer of chickweed.... nasty stuff.

Still confused what would have gotten into the raised beds . Chewed off all the tomatoes and peppers.

I'm glad we struck some commonalities this morning, Harriet! Yesterday I worked some on some family history writing that I've been editing for years....and it's now something of a mess. I just need to edit it and get it out there, instead of continuing to edit/rewrite. And in the meantime, another daughter turned up, lol.

Talked with my dfriend M about my mentee the other day and she thought a goal of 2K words a week was good, but mentee and I settled on 1K words, But she's pushing off the meeting so she can get it done, so at least she's getting something down. Will perhaps suggest a slightly higher goal when we meet on Friday? don't know. Like I said, my KDP was 21K words. Certainly could have been shortened, but I had no complaints from judges about extraneous materials or wordiness. But I got it done.

I need to get myself moving. I'm due in an hour for a pedicure, still need to walk ddog and eat something. This afternoon I have a work period, except that it's interrupted by the Zoom re Medicare supplemental coverage. And wonder of wonders, dh is out tonight for a staff only retirement party.

Need to walk that impatient girl.

Good morning!

I pulled out one of my paper methods yesterday and put it to use. When I need to use paper method, it is a clue that I am getting overwhelmed. I prefer to capture data digitally but sometimes life happens, and I need to temporarily use the tried & true method of pen & paper.

DH is thinking about staying at home while I take DD14 to the city for her appt. That would mean DH would be alone for 3-4 hours. I am not sure he can handle that. It has become a part of our life to remind him of this or that. Simple things. If he doesn't have someone to tell him the simple things, then he might go off on a tangent and get lost or totally confused. Maybe I will entice him to go with us so I don't have to worry about him.

Lauralind, are they chewed off but the plant still lying there? If that happened here, I would be relatively certain it was cutworms. I've had that happen before - lousy thing to happen. They like tomatoes best, in my experience, but yes, young pepper stems. IF that happens, a little twig sticking up right beside the stem can thwart them. They can't cut through it then. Other ideas to stop them are on the net, I'm sure. IF the plant is also gone or mostly eaten at the same time, something else is going on. Hope you figure it out!

Kitchen work happened until I had counter space enough to cook. Good grief, there was too much to get to that point. Tiring. I made my seriously large smoothie recipe and sitting with it now for brunch.

Howdy, blessed.

LadyM, could ds check in at the house and spend a little time just to be a "landmark" in the middle of the time ya'll are away? I hope somehow you don't have to deal with too much worry.

Harriet i will have to ask dad. The plants are gone now. Unless he picked them up. A couple of the tomatoes were a foot tall with only one branch left. The other 2 were off st the bottom. He was wondering about groundhog. Maybe rats cause he has those there now too. But no smell.

That place used to be beautiful. Till all these health issues. Last summer was terrible. Dad had no energy whatsoever. Nothing got done outside. He planted the inside of the greenhouse and we had to do the outside. Then completely neglected it cause his heart was bad. And mom had surgery. And welll yeah.. now the sheds are disheveled from the rats. Greenhouse is a mat of chickweed.. work. I think ds26 has been helping a little now they are there in the trailer. But that is exactly why I struggled with the garden there. I will have to be there a lot now.
