The Tisza, Tysa or Tisa (see below) is one of the major rivers of Central and Eastern Europe. It was once called "the most Hungarian river" because it used to flow entirely within the Kingdom of Hungary. Today, it crosses several national borders.

The Tisza begins near Rakhiv in Ukraine, at the confluence of the White Tisa and Black Tisa, which is at coordinates 48°4′29″N 24°14′40″E (the former springs in the Chornohora mountains; the latter in the Gorgany range). From there, the Tisza flows west, roughly following Ukraine's borders with Romania and Hungary, then briefly as the border between Slovakia and Hungary, before entering into Hungary, and finally into Serbia. The Tisza enters Hungary at Tiszabecs, traversing the country from north to south. A few kilometers south of the Hungarian city of Szeged, it enters Serbia. Finally, it joins the Danube near the village of Stari Slankamen in Vojvodina, Serbia.

The Tisza drains an area of about 156,087 km2 (60,266 sq mi) and has a length of 966 km (600 mi) Its mean annual discharge is seasonally 792 m3/s (28,000 cu ft/s) to 1,050 m3/s (37,000 cu ft/s). It contributes about 13% of the Danube's total runoff.

Attila the Hun is said to have been buried under a diverted section of the river Tisza.

"A Duckling Swims in the Tisza" (Ukrainian: Пливе́ ка́ча по Тиси́ні, romanized: Plyve kacha po Tysyni), also known as "Hey, a Duckling Swims in the Tisza" (Ukrainian: Гей, пливе кача по Тисині, romanized: Hey, plyve kacha po Tysyni) is a Lemko folk song that became well-known in the 21st century Ukraine due to its frequent use as a requiem for protestors killed during the 2013-2014 Euromaidan, the 2014 Revolution of Dignity, and the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War.

Good morning,Trissie, and thank you for starting us off with another interesting river!

Gma, unfortunately it's highly likely that Matilda's dental problems with gingivitis have a genetic cause ( differences in the makeup of her saliva, her individual reaction to to bacteria that naturally occur in her mouth etc) rather than a more easily remedied cause like bad diet. All three of the cats eat different varieties the same brand of food (Royal Canin), and Freddie and Jude both have perfect teeth and very good mouths, despite being considerably older. So, when her mouth has completely healed, we're going to try brushing her teeth, with a special cat toothpaste and toothbrush. There's also a product called Plaque off, made from seaweed, that we can try sprinkling on her food, but I suspect fairly regular dental cleanings at the vet may be a part of her future.

The good news is that cats really don't care about not having teeth, as their gums soon harden so they can cope with dried food if necessary. (My DDeparted Trifle ended up losing all her teeth except for a couple of tiny incisors, and she quite happily ate her biscuits. In fact she would be often refuse to eat wet food (sigh!). I also found out yesterday, what I had long suspected, that Trifle used to frequently bite the veterinary staff when she was in for bloods etc. But because it was like being pinched hard (no blood!) no one had mentioned it to me, except once,.and that was obliquely. At least Matilda is a *lot* better behaved at the vets, and they all love her. :D My main desire is for Matilda to have a healthy, pain free mouth, with or without teeth!

Today is supposed to be hot and sunny (30C). So I'll be glad of the cool church this morning. DH is taking me for lunch at the College (it seemed a good opportunity to use my voucher for a free meal there). Afterwards, he's going onto some works social event, and I think I'll come home and sit in the shade in my garden and read until it cools down enough to do something. I also don't want to leave the cats for too long ATM. Matilda had a good night is currently asleep on the bed. If she follows the patterns of my other cats after surgery, she will almost certainly be "coming down"from whatever drugs and painkillers she was pumped full of yesterday. We still have to continue ner anti inflammatory for at least another 5 days . Fortunately that is easy to add to her food!

Today's list:
Up and out early for church
(Can I hoover the car before church and before it gets too hot?)
Chocolates and thank you card to Matilda's team at the vet - walk down as it's a nice day
While I'm at the vet, can I chase Jude's oetpl9claim?
Coffee and chat after church
12.30 pm walk to College for lunch with DH
Drop DH off at station
Drive home
Sit in the garden for a while in the shade?
6-7 pm Waitrose delivery
Unpack groceries and PA
The house needs some attention: PUPA / dust / hoover sitting room,
PUPA and dust upstairs, round up Matilda's paperwork and file
Register hoover
Check cats water bowls
Can I power wash the car this evening when it's cooler? It's not a noisy job, so won't disturb anyone if I leave it until 9 pm or so
Fold laundry?
Matilda's anti inflammatory before bed
To be continued...

Thanks for the info on the Tisza River, trissie. I had a student from Hungary in my class a few months ago, and she talked about the Tisza in a conversation with me about her home country. She was studying to become a pediatrician - but her husband was at the big U here as a post-doc. :) I hope your day is going well.
That's amazing that cats can function so well without their teeth, Kitty. Healthy and pain free is what we all want. I'm glad you're taking such good care of them. Have a good morning at church and enjoy lunch with dh!

I'm up early (for me) to go work out with A across town. I'm going straight from the gym to the Dr. to have my toe looked at. I feel a little bad that my feet might be sweaty and stinky after the work out, but it is what it is. At least I will be showered. :) I'll stop by WF before ending up at home around 11/11:30, depending on the Dr. visit.

This afternoon, I'd like to finish exam prep. One more exam is done - just needs a quick read through. A second is almost done; I was making changes and needed to sleep on them before deciding how to proceed. It feels clear to me now. Then, the last exam should just need some tweaks.

We had a lot of rain yesterday, and it is gray and drippy outside. More rain is expected around noon.

Main Goals for Today
1. 8-9 Work out with trainer
2. 9:40 Dr. appointment
3. WF for odds and ends
4. Progress on Exam Prep - finish, ideally
5. Walk?
6. Progress on the desk

Next:
- finish reclaiming kitchen
- gather groc. list, work out shoes, stuff to do while waiting at the Dr. office (I'll arrive early)
- 8-9 work out across town

Later:

- maybe go visit Raven, the Cs' new Bernedoodle puppy

🤓 Good morning!

Gma, what a sweet image of ladies enjoying brownie sundaes before bedtime. Your mom should have a smooth day with her hair done and a productive task to keep her mind and hands moving.

Trissie, thanks for the info. How’s your day going?

Kittykatt, I’m glad Matilda is doing well and it’s sort of humorous now of a toothless cat biting the vet staff. At least they’re good natured about it. Cats are never fully tamed like dogs can be which certainly keeps things interesting. Hope you’ve enjoyed your anniversary lunch and ate something tasty.

Helia, I hope they find the underlying problem with your toe and it’s easily treatable. As for appearance, I’m sure they’ve seen much worse. Have you seen those foot shows on tv where patients haven’t sought treatment for years? It’s pretty bad.

Hi LAnn, enjoy your day.

Today is supposed to be paper day for me. Nothing exciting going on here, dh is at work and I’m covering the home front. I’m not sure I want to sit all day so will probably attack some rooms as well. For now it’s basics.

To Do
Feed pets
Spot clean floors
Wipe down kitchen

Tada
Bible
Dressed
Call from dh
♥ Wake each day expecting good things to happen! ♥

L.Ann, I'll have to look up what the farro salad actually is!
helian, being a doctor dealing with feet in summer is a hard job!
kittykatt, the churches are a very cool place to be at in the summer :-)
Bama, good luck on the paper monster!

Home. I've taken DBD for her scout end of term picnic, and the other mother is driving her home. My head is running in a thousand directions because of DH's party on Saturday, while DH is very much looking forward to having a fun day with his friends. Don't you sometimes wish you were a man? Must be nice to be a careless puppy!

TaDas
- morning madness
- morning routine
- load of lights sorted, delay started and flipped to dryer
- day at work
- pick up DBD from school
- drive her to scout picnic
- 2/3 done with living room (I like to move furniture for mopping, so I have to split the room in thirds)

ToDos
- finish living room
- midday routine
- deliver ironed laundry from yesterday

Don't forget
- finalize my Tesco order!!!

Trissie, sometimes wives need a wife lol. The good thing is that he probably doesn’t notice small details so let go of anything you can so you’re able to enjoy the day too. My paper monster is out of control, spanning rooms and rooms, I need a paper buster version of the ghost busters so I can call them lol.

To Do
Coffee
Food
Planner

Tadas
Last lists plus
Emails
Bagged up recyclables
Fed outside cat Lola

Logged my breakfast, a frozen chicken biscuit as I’m trying to empty the freezer, and the app says congrats, when you eat biscuits you tend to stay on track that day.
lol! If only!
We usually eat something hardier when doing yard work or heading to Hollywood so I understand the logic but it’s invalid.
